Man allegedly kicks his way to a felony charge
Morgan Alan Pruett faces one felony count of criminal mischief in Flathead County District Court in connection with the May 29 incident. Held in the county jail with bail set at $15,000, Pruett is scheduled to appear before Judge Heidi Ulbricht on June 19 for his arraignment.
Columbia Falls Police officers located Pruett after receiving a report about 9:40 p.m. of a man in blue jeans and a black tank top wearing cowboy boots and a cowboy hat damaging vehicles in a parking lot near Second Avenue West and Seventh Street West. Pruett at first denied kicking anything, but later amended his story to say that he "did not kick anything that he did not own," court documents said.
But a review of surveillance footage allegedly showed Pruett kicking the passenger door of a white Ford Flex parked in the lot. Then Pruett headed over to a parked Columbia Falls patrol vehicle and kicked the driver's side door, court documents alleged.
The strike to the Ford Flex left a roughly 18-inch wide dent with an estimated cost of more than $1,500 to fix, court documents said. The patrol vehicle appeared unscathed.
After noticing signs of impairment while talking with Pruett, officers sought a preliminary breath test, which returned at 0.202, according to court documents.
Pruett faces up to 10 years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted of felony criminal mischief.

Homeowner charged with hosting underage party before New Hampshire teen jumped from moving car and died
Police in New Hampshire have filed charges against two people, including a homeowner who they say provided alcohol to minors during a party at their home in June. A high school student jumped out of a moving car and died after police say he was drinking at the party. Bedford, New Hampshire police said that on June 8 around 8:15 p.m., Tyson Bolduc was the passenger in a car in the area of Wallace Road and Stagecoach Lane when he jumped out of the car. Bolduc, a Bedford High School student, was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Police said a 17-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was driving. The teenager remained on scene and cooperated with police. Bedford police said there was an open container of alcohol in the car. Officers conducted a field sobriety test and toxicology report, and determined that the driver did not have any substances in his system at the time Bolduc died. On Monday, police announced that the 17-year-old was charged with transportation of alcohol and open container. Police later learned that Bolduc and the driver had previously attended a party at a home where there was underage drinking. Homeowner Heather Keegan, 55, has been charged with facilitating an underage alcohol party, police announced. Keegan is scheduled to be arraigned September 9 in Merrimack District Court. The Bedford Police Department said that the incident serves as a reminder that providing alcohol to minors is "illegal, dangerous, and potentially fatal," adding that adults who host or allow underage drinking "will be held accountable." "This remains a tragic incident, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the families involved during this difficult time. We are committed to ensuring justice is served and that we continue to work with schools, parents, and community partners to prevent another senseless tragedy," Bedford Police Chief Daniel Douidi said in a statement.

A man who more than 4,000 images of baby and toddler sexual abuse on his mobile phone has been jailed. Ryan Lee Rowland Smith's vile and disturbing collection included 13.5 hours of video time, eight hours of which were category A, the worst grade of footage. Specialist police officers branded the harrowing footage as some of the most disturbing they had ever been forced to witness. The 23-year-old, of Sorrel Close, Stockton, was convicted of nine offences, including three counts of distributing indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent images of children, possessing a paedophile manual and possessing extreme pornography - including bestiality, possessing prohibited images of a child. He was sentenced to four years in prison plus four years on extended licence when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court. "Every minute of footage on his phone showed a baby or child suffering extreme abuse. 'The horrific content he was accessing, and sharing, was very specific and mainly involved babies and toddlers. The content was so harrowing, our team went as far as to warn defence to be cautious as this is some of the most horrific content we have been exposed to. 'Smith was accessing this content, in the main depicting pain and suffering, for his own satisfaction and nothing more. Smith's offending is abhorrent; in my eyes, he has committed the most horrendous crimes imaginable. 'When our team arrested Smith in October 2024 it was 6.30am and he had already been on his device accessing vile content. Since then, officers from the team have gone above and beyond to gather evidence against Smith. "At times it was extremely difficult for the team, as they had to view everything which Smith accessed; the tenacity and expertise of the team as a whole secured the convictions against Smith. 'Smith has shown no shame or remorse for the crimes he has committed, even answering 'no comment' when interviewed, for this, he deserves to spend a long time behind bars where he cannot cause further harm.' Following his conviction, Smith has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and has been made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.
