U Mumba TT set to take on Kolkata ThunderBlades in UTT Juniors final

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 7 (ANI): After two weeks of intense competition, two teams, U Mumba TT and Kolkata ThunderBlades, will battle for the UTT Juniors trophy at the EKA Arena on Sunday, June 8. Prateek Tulsani and Ananya Muralidharan, representing the team from Mumbai, will take on Ritvik Gupta and Swara Karmakar from the Kolkata franchise as per the UTT press release.
In the first semi-final, U Mumba TT emerged victorious over the Jaipur Patriots despite an early setback when Trishul Surapureddy beat Prateek 2-1 in the boys' singles. However, Prateek and Ananya pulled it back in the mixed doubles when they beat Trishul and his teammate Shreya Dhar 3-0. In the girls' singles, Ananya secured a win in her first set against Shreya, securing a place in the final for U Mumba TT.
U Mumba TT's Prateek Tulsani and Ananya Muralidhar dominated the league stage, scoring 29 points to finish at the summit. With 25 points, they secured their semi-final berth.
In the second semi-final, the Kolkata ThunderBlades were triumphant over the Dempo Goa Challengers. It was a closely-fought match from the get-go, with Ritvik edging past Sahil Rawat 2-1. The mixed doubles saw the Goa team pull one back with a 2-1 victory led by Sahil and Aarya Redkar, but a straight-sets win by Swara Karmakar over Aarya in the girls singles ensured their team reached five points and secured a place in the final.
The ThunderBlades, represented by Ritvik Gupta and Swara Karmarkar, earned 26 points. (ANI)

London [UK], August 20 (ANI): England is set to visit Sri Lanka, the co-host of next year's T20 World Cup, for a white-ball tour, in the buildup to the marquee event. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released a statement on Wednesday to announce that the Three Lions will contest in three ODIs and as many T20Is from January 22 to February 3, next year. In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, England endured a heartbreak in the semi-finals against India, who eventually went on to lift the title. 'England Men will tour Sri Lanka for two white-ball series ahead of the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in early 2026," the ECB said in a statement. The tour will begin with three ODIs on January 22 and will conclude on January 27. The ODI action will be followed by the T20Is from January 30 and will run till February 3. As of now, the venues of the six white-ball fixtures have yet to be confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket. England will reap massive benefits from playing in the sub-continent, considering the T20 World Cup will be hosted in India and Sri Lanka. Under the refined leadership of Harry Brook, a rejuvenated England white-ball side will tussle for their third crown, having won it in 2009 and 2022. The next year's tour of Sri Lanka will be England's first in over seven years. In their past exploits, England trounced the Lions to stand triumphant in the ODI leg in 2018. Riding high on the success in the 50-over format, England marched towards victory in the lone T20I. England and Sri Lanka's last encounter in the shortest format of cricket dates back to the former's T20 World Cup-winning campaign in 2022. England overwhelmed Sri Lanka with a convincing four-wicket win in the group stage. Before entering the arena to grapple for victory against each other, Sri Lanka will embark on a journey to Zimbabwe for a white-ball series, beginning on September 6. E-sports to get legal backing in India under new Online Gaming Bill
New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): The Online Gaming Bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, where it was noted that E-sports will be recognised as a legitimate form of competitive sport in India. For the promotion of E-sports, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports will establish a dedicated framework. For online social games, the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) will extend support to online games that foster educational & cultural values, skill development and social the Bill seeks to encourage the positive aspects of technology while protecting society from the adverse impacts of online money games. 'Among the components of online gaming, the first part is E-sports. It will promote E-sports and grant it legal recognition," a source said on the just-introduced Bill to regulate online gaming in India, there will be no punishment for those playing online money games; it is only the service providers, advertisers, promoters, and those who financially support such games who will face the consequences, said sources. 'No punishment for those playing online games. No punishment to victims. Only punishment for service providers, advertisers, promoters and those who support financially to such games," a source noted. The Online Gaming Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha, encourages E-sports and online social games while prohibiting harmful online money gaming services, advertisements, and financial transactions related to them. The Bill seeks to completely ban offering, operating, or facilitating online money games, irrespective of whether based on skill, chance, or both, the government said. Through this legislation, the government aims to promote e-sports and give them legal recognition. This bill will help provide legal support to e-sports. Earlier, there was no legal backing for e-sports, sources added. 'We have interacted with the 3rd segment of the online gaming industry. We also tried to impose GST, but the challenge persisted. We had no option but to choose society for the welfare of people," a source said. (ANI)
