Man takes loan from girlfriend, gets brother to loot her flat to repay

Time of Indiaa day ago

Kolkata: An IT-sector employee, and his brother, were arrested by Baguiati cops for theft of items worth Rs 5 lakh from the former's girlfriend's residence at Deshabandhu Nagar in Baguiati.
Accused Shyamcharan Das reportedly took advantage of his girlfriend's business trip to Sikkim and gave the rented flat's keys to his brother Ramcharan, asking him to steal gold jewellery. He directed his brother to the exact spots where the gold was kept in the flat that he often visited. Shyamcharan himself travelled to Sikkim to meet his girlfriend, ensuring he was not seen as a suspect.
By the time the trip was over and the theft was discovered on May 30, the woman lodged an FIR against the servants of the building.
However, cops checked CCTV footage and identified Shyamcharan's scooty at the crime scene. It was being used by Ramcharan. "On being questioned, Shyamcharan confessed to planning the crime," said an officer.
Shyamcharan borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh from the victim and was under pressure to return the money. He planned to sell the jewellery to return the loan and pocket the rest. Shyamcharan and Ramcharan often visited the flat, and no one suspected their involvement.

Teen forced to drink urine, eyebrows & head shaved for making new friends in Ballabgarh

Faridabad : A 19-year-old Dalit youth was subjected to brutal torture and humiliation by his former friends in Ballabgarh. The victim was not only beaten with sticks but also forced to drink urine and sexually assaulted during the ordeal that took place on June 16. According to police, the teenager was lured from his house in Subhash Colony by Piyush, a former friend, who took him to a room near a local dispensary. There, Piyush and his accomplices allegedly tied him up and unleashed a series of brutal acts — beating him with sticks, forcibly shaving his head, eyebrows, and moustache, and hurling casteist slurs. The assailants allegedly stole Rs 3,000 from his pocket and sexually assaulted him as well. "The victim had recently started hanging out with a different group of youths. This angered Piyush and the others, leading to the eventual assault on him," said a police officer familiar with the case. The teenager had allegedly been assaulted by the same group just a day before the incident. An FIR was registered the next day under various sections of BNS, including those dealing with voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful confinement, theft, and criminal intimidation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Experience next-level CPAP comfort with Resmed AirSense 11 ResMed Enquire Now Undo Charges under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act were also included. While Piyush was arrested, two minors were detained in connection with the case. Police are looking for three other accused. "Three teams are working to apprehend the remaining culprits," said Nafe Singh, the SHO of Adarsh Nagar police station. The victim's cousin, who lodged a police complaint, alleged that the accused were known troublemakers in the area with previous criminal records. Piyush, who had known the teenager for 7-8 years, was presented before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. The two minors were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. "An investigation has been initiated. Special teams have also been formed to track down the remaining accused," the officer said.

National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test candidate alleges OMR manipulation, plans legal action

Bengaluru: A National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) candidate from the city has claimed that the OMR sheet displayed on the NTA (National Testing Agency) website under her name was manipulated and didn't match the responses she had given during the exam. At a press conference, Spurthy S, a student of Soundarya PU College, said she found a stark mismatch between the responses she had given and those in the OMR sheet provided on the website. In a letter written to NTA, she said: "Upon attempting to download my OMR sheet, I encountered initial technical errors. When it became accessible, I observed that the shaded bubbles for the register number were correct, but the handwritten number appeared overwritten. I also remember writing the time under my signature, as instructed by the invigilator during the exam. However, the time written on the OMR sheet isn't visible in the scanned copy. This raised concerns about possible technical misread or mismatch during evaluation." "Several answers I attempted and marked are left unshaded. Some questions I didn't attempt are marked. This has led to a discrepancy of nearly 174 marks, inconsistent with my performance and expectations," she alleged. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo According to her, while currently her rank is around 93,000, it should have been around 200, based on the answers she claimed to have marked. While she wrote to NTA on June 3, the agency replied on June 12 stating that the OMR sheet was indeed hers. "We'd like to assure you that the OMR sheet displayed on the portal is the same as the one submitted by you at the exam centre. The sheet includes the details filled in by you, such as your roll number (both in figures and bubbled format), the question paper booklet number and series code, and bears both your signature and that of the invigilator. The image visible to you is a scanned copy of the original OMR sheet received from the centre under due process. The responses shown are those marked by you during the exam. We hope this clarifies your concern," the response read. The student said she intends to approach Karnataka high court over the matter. "I secured 625 out of 625 in SSLC and 99% in II PU. In CET, I have a rank of 1,386," she added.
