Woolworths announces major change to its famous mud cakes: 'I need it in my life'

Daily Mail19 hours ago

Woolworths has unveiled a brand new twist on its iconic mud cake - and fans say it's one of the supermarket's best sweet treats to date.
Landing in stores this week, the Choc Chip Cookie Mud Cake is the latest addition to its beloved range that sees five mud cakes sold every minute in Australia.
Priced at just $7, the limited-edition 600g dessert is available both in-store and online from Tuesday, June 10.
The new flavour features a caramel mud cake base packed with cookie pieces and topped with choc chip drizzle, blending two household favourites - cake and cookie - into one indulgent creation.
Woolworths' Chief Cake Maker Laura Mcleod said the bakery team wanted to fuse the familiar nostalgia of freshly baked biscuits with the rich decadence of the brand's signature mud cake.
'We've infused that unmistakable, beloved flavour of freshly-baked choc chip cookies right into our signature caramel mud cake,' she explained, adding that the team knew Australians had a soft spot for that classic cookie taste.
'By combining it with our popular mud cake, we've aimed to create an irresistible new treat.'
Early reviews suggest the gamble has paid off.
Content creators Nick Vavitis and Nectro Vlangos shared their first impressions in a video taste test.
Vavitis noted the cake was 'loaded with cookie on top' and 'full of choc chips,' describing the flavour as 'absolutely smashing [his] taste buds right now.'
Vlangos agreed, saying it 'hits you in the face straight away' and likening the dessert to 'a massive chocolate chip muffin,' with a caramel ganache icing that adds to the richness.
'I absolutely love this one,' he said.
'It's the best mud cake since the birthday cake flavour.'
Vavitis went one step further, calling it 'definitely one of the best mud cakes they have ever released.'
Shoppers are already racing to try it, with social media comments flooding in after the cake's announcement.
One shopper wrote, 'I need this in my life - three of my favourite things ever: cookies, mudcake, and chocolate chips.'

Another added, 'You had me at giant chocolate chip muffin.'
While others lamented the poor timing: 'Why am I seeing this after I've done my shopping for the week?'
Of course, not everyone was entirely sold, with one customer commenting that it was 'a bit too dry' for their liking, though for many, that won't be enough to keep them away.
With its caramel-cookie combo and nostalgic flavour profile, the Choc Chip Cookie Mud Cake is tipped to become the next cult favourite in Woolworths' bakery aisle - but only for a short time so you'll have to be quick.

Trinny Woodall, 61, displays her impressive abs in skintight matching gym set as she hosts a yoga session with fans

Trinny Woodall displayed her impressive abs as she lead a yoga session with her fans on Tuesday. The What Not To Wear star, 61, proved age is just a number as she showed off her toned torso on social media. Trinny took to her Instagram Story of Tuesday to share she was about to go live on YouTube with a yoga class for her followers to join in on. She announced the class sporting a skintight matching gym set in a grey crocodile print, consisting of a strappy sports bra and high-waisted leggings. In the clip, Trinny said: 'Good morning all, sorry for the lateness. Once a month I do Australian telly and it doesn't end until 12, so I just overslept. 'Anyway Victoria's here and we're going to do a sort of half an hour yoga session of just waking up your body and getting ready for the day. So join us on YouTube now.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It comes after Trinny opened up about her struggle with her weight, admitting that the pounds fall off her too easily. Also taking to Instagram, she shared that she now focuses on getting enough protein in her diet after losing 4kg from an illness. She said: 'I'm not one to talk about weight because for me it's about strength and definitely the maintenance of protein as you go down the path of life. 'But today I am I have always had a high metabolism and I have always been what some people might define as thin. 'What I don't love is when I lose weight especially after being ill and I can lose it quickly - what I notice is the change in my body.' Trinny added: 'Muscle needs daily protein and muscle keeps my bones protected - it gives structure to my skin and it gives me physical and mental strength. 'It is harder as you get older to maintain muscle mass, but it is so important.' So in a bid to keep her body looking its best, she has recently doubled her protein intake. Trinny took to her Instagram Story of Tuesday to share she was about to go live on YouTube with a yoga class for her followers to join in on Trinny joked: 'I don't want to be in a bikini with a saggy a**e. I'm just going admit that one. 'But most importantly when i get sick and lose weight it makes me feel so so vulnerable to not being strong in myself and how when I am physically strong it gives me such a mental strength. 'Ask yourself are you taking enough protein every day? You should really take double the kilos that you weigh especially as you reach menopause and beyond... Sometimes that's really challenging.' Trinny openly talks about some of the health benefits she buys into as the reason she looks so good into her 60s - including regular workouts and consistent skincare. She most recently revealed the secrets behind her noticeably radiant complexion after what she describes as a 'very stressful' few months. Trinny, the powerhouse creator of beauty brand Trinny London, has seen her business skyrocket over the past few years with a rapidly growing following. Torn between her many commitments, she was starting to really feel - and see - the impact of her hectic schedule. Until she discovered her unexpected love for daily meditation - something she admits 'wasn't for her' but now describes as 'profound'. She told FEMAIL: 'I lead quite a stressed life and I was realising that stress, medically, is a really sh**ty place to get to for your body. It just is. It will affect you physically and medically. 'So I thought I would take control before I let stress affect my body in a negative way. 'I had two people come into my life and I noticed such a profound difference in how they were [after meditating]. One of them I thought had had a facelift, and the other was just so much easier to sit and chat to.' Inspired, Trinny started getting up half an hour earlier each morning and spend 20 minutes meditating with a mantra. She then finds time for a second 20-minute block in the afternoon - even if it's in the bathroom at her office. 'I've been doing it for four weeks now and I really feel a shift. When you're stressed, from an aesthetic perspective, it shows on your face,' she said.

The REAL reason The Project was given the chop - as up to 80 people are expected to lose their jobs

More than 80 jobs could be cut following Monday's announcement that Network Ten's The Project will wrap up production later this month, ending a 16-year run on Australian television. Hosts Waleed Aly, Sarah Harris, and Hamish Macdonald will depart the network, while comedian Sam Taunton is expected to continue making appearances on other Ten programs. Speaking to staff on Monday, Network Ten president Beverley McGarvey confirmed the long-rumoured cancellation saying the program 'just doesn't stack up any longer.' In a four minute long speech, first reported by McGarvey said that discussions about ending the light news and current affairs show had been ongoing for years. One of the key reasons, she said, was a shift in media viewing habits, particularly among the show's core audience. 'Younger demographics in particular, who really made the show thrive in the beginning, have just evolved,' she said. 'They're watching different platforms and they're watching different services.' McGarvey admitted the show had lasted far longer than expected: 'We didn't think we'd be here for 16 years.' More than 80 jobs could go once the show winds up at the end of June She said she and other Ten bosses had carefully weighed up scrapping the show 'for years' and the decision was not made lightly. McGarvey also praised the program's cultural impact across Australia. 'It did great things for the media landscape, and more broadly, it did great things for Australian culture. Not many shows resonate in the way that The Project did.' Describing it as 'a click-baity show' that still maintained strong editorial values, she credited the staff for their work. An apology was offered to staff by McGarvey for the short notice, with them having less than three weeks to find new jobs. The Project host Steve Price told ABC Radio Melbourne on Tuesday that 80 people could lose their jobs Price has been a regular on The Project every Monday for the past 15 years. Some reports put the number of affected jobs at up to 100, although many staff are expected to be redeployed across the Network, to other shows or other roles. Price also spoke to Kyle and Jackie O on Tuesday and called the show's cancellation a 'sad day for Melbourne,' where production is mainly based. 'Staff and artists will be left with nowhere else to talk about their products'. The show also had some production work in Sydney. Price has been vocal about the axing and wrote in a column for the Herald Sun on Monday night in which he said that some critics were 'dancing on the grave' of what they labelled a 'woke' series. 'Those ignorant people doing the 'glad they got sacked' dance over the cancellation called the show woke and leftie. Hello, I am the exact opposite of that description, and have been there from almost the start,' Price wrote. 'Show me that sort of political balance on any ABC TV show – you can't.'
