The Heartland Whole Health Institute: A Building for Well-Being

When a prince of 18th-century Germany developed a mania for constructing palaces, he was said to have caught the Bauwurm, or building bug (literally 'building worm'). Is there a better way to describe what has happened to Alice Walton, of the family that founded Walmart? Since 2011 she has built a major art museum, a school of medicine, and an institute for health, all on a 134-acre campus in Bentonville, Ark. The diversity of these buildings, their furious ambition, and Ms. Walton's intimate involvement in their making have made her America's most interesting patron of architecture.
Her Heartland Whole Health Institute, founded in 2019, has a daunting mandate: to collaborate 'with the health care industry in developing a whole-health approach that considers the needs of the whole person with the goal of preventing disease, improving health outcomes, and sustaining wellness.' This is the language of public policy and officialdom—rocky soil for visionary architecture. But Marlon Blackwell Architects, which designed the HWHI, took it seriously, showing us what a whole-health approach might mean for architecture.

Ozempic And Wegovy Now Available Through GoodRx At Reduced Self-Pay Price, Stock Skyrockets

GoodRx Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:GDRX) announced that, via a collaboration with Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE:NVO), all strengths of Ozempic (semaglutide) and Wegovy (semaglutide) pens are available to eligible self-paying patients for $499-per-month through GoodRx, effective immediately. GoodRx offers a platform for medication savings in the U.S. The collaboration significantly lowers the price available on GoodRx for two of the most in-demand GLP-1 medications nationwide, expanding access for those without adequate insurance move also marks the first time Ozempic has been made available to patients at this self-pay price. In the last year, almost 17 million people came to GoodRx looking for savings and information on GLP-1 medications, a 22% increase from the previous year. Now, GoodRx is poised to meet this growing demand more effectively. GoodRx research shows 19 million people lack coverage for any GLP-1s prescribed for weight loss. By filling the gaps in insurance coverage, GoodRx is playing a critical role in reducing friction in the system and helping accelerate speed to therapy so consumers can benefit from these critical treatments. Starting today, eligible patients can use GoodRx to self-pay for Ozempic and Wegovy pens for $499-per-month at over 70,000 retail pharmacies nationwide. In March, Novo Nordisk introduced NovoCare Pharmacy, a direct-to-patient delivery service to improve access to Wegovy for cash-paying patients. The program offers all dosage strengths of the weight-loss medication at a reduced price of $499 per month for uninsured individuals or those whose insurance does not cover obesity treatments. In June, Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE:LLY) announced that the highest approved doses of Zepbound (tirzepatide), 12.5 mg and 15 mg, would soon be available in single-dose vials for $499 per month through LillyDirect's Self Pay Pharmacy Solutions and the Zepbound Self Pay Journey Program. Healthcare providers began prescribing the 12.5 mg and 15 mg vials on July 7; shipments to patients began in early August. With the addition of these doses, every strength of Zepbound vial will be available for $499/month or less ($349 for the 2.5 mg starter dose) to any eligible adult with obesity and a valid prescription, regardless of insurance. After the update, Hims & Hers Health Inc (NYSE:HIMS) stock is trading 2.35% lower at $44.94. In June, Novo Nordisk terminated its collaboration with Hims & Hers Health. On Saturday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved an additional indication for Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4 mg) based on a supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for noncirrhotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in adults with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis), in combination with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. Clean and harmonised CRM data vital for AI model training

As healthcare entities move towards the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) models to streamline patient engagement, being acquitted of good customer relationship management (CRM) system data is of rising importance, an expert has said. In April 2025, the UK National Health Service (NHS) released guidance on the importance of using high-quality data in training AI models. The guidance highlighted that poor quality data can lead to unintended biases and other inaccuracies that may stymy the effectiveness of AI models used for varying functions in healthcare systems. CRM data includes information on patient demographics, individuals' medical history, insurance information, billing details, and more. The consolidation of this data is intended to improve patient engagement, personalise care, and track individuals' medical history. A 2022 report indicated that revenue streams from 44% of healthcare respondents were directly affected bypoor quality CRM data. In addition, 69% of respondents said their organisations did not pursue or complete potentially valuable initiatives due to low-quality CRM data. According to Rachel Mak-McCully, senior data scientist at digital twin developer the cleaning and harmonisation of CRM datasets is not an area that is given enough consideration – despite its significant influence on AI models being deployed in healthcare. 'In thinking about clean data, there's a few issues, including how accurate and comprehensive the data is,' Mak-McCully told Medical Device Network. 'In the US, we have a very fractured medical system, so the information that you get about someone may be quite fractured.' Fractured data can relate to data that is missing because it hasn't been collected at the same time or stored together, Mak-McCully said, or in the sense that it's been measured in different ways. 'Imagine the data cleaning process as a spreadsheet. You might have a lot of different columns that are named differently, but they're the same thing. You want to make sure that all of those are harmonised into the same column,' Mak-McCully said. 'And you want to make sure that the units that you're measuring across a range of different data sources are the same. The ultimate goal is to have a clean, tabular dataset at the end that incorporates all relevant sources of data, so that a single, clean source of data can be used to train your AI model.' Mak-McCully concludes that while there is a lot of talk about the performance of AI models in healthcare and other areas, such as the new benchmarks that have been made, very few people talk about the underlying data. 'For us to clearly communicate what it is that we're doing, the implications of that and for people to understand how data is used, particularly in healthcare, is a really important conversation.' Texas Declares Measles Outbreak Over With No Cases Since July

The Texas Department of State Health Services reported the end of the state's measles outbreak on Monday, after a surge of infections this year drove the US to the worst outbreak in three decades. The health department said no new cases in areas with previous high transmission had been reported for 42 days, the length of time necessary for public health leaders to declare an end to an outbreak. Since January, the state has recorded 762 total cases. Two unvaccinated children died from measles-related complications.
