Emmerdale confirms another death as killer John strikes again
Emmerdale's latest killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) really is a tortured soul, isn't he? Unlike your average psychopath he doesn't get any pleasure from killing. In fact what he'd rather do would be to save lives all day long and bask in the admiration of others. Unfortunately, with one mess rapidly leading to another, he's ended up having blood on his hands on numerous occasions – and he's about to add another victim to the list. Since the body of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) was found in the lake, John has been pained to see various villagers accusing each other of Nate's murder, because he knows he was the one responsible after accidentally killing Nate while trying to save his life after the barn fire. Nate's widow, Tracy (Amy Walsh), immediately blamed Cain (Jeff Hordley), who had beaten his son up shortly before Nate disappeared because he thought something was going on between him and Moira (Natalie J Robb). Cain blamed Tracy, and this seemed to have been confirmed when Nate's phone was found at Tracy's house, having been used during Nate's absence when Cain thought he was ringing his son. John had had the phone all along and planted it at Tracy's. As Nate's funeral looms in coming episodes, John is wracked with guilt that the two people who loved Nate the most are being torn apart by accusations and recriminations. So when an opportunity presents itself to put someone altogether different in the frame for the murder, John decides he can fix things, John style. By killing someone else. He's surprised when a man called Owen comes for an appointment with him at the surgery, because Owen is none other than the man John caught spiking Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley)'s drink. He throws Owen out of the surgery and this is witnessed by Robert, who thanks him for standing up for him – though Robert is still obviously wary of John generally. Later, Liam (Jonny McPherson) makes a house call to Owen, but he can't get an answer. Concerned for his patient's wellbeing, he calls the police, who break into the house and find Owen dead. More Trending And on the dead man's laptop is a written confession, saying that Owen was responsible for murdering Nate Robinson. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Cain and Tracy are soon informed of this development, and Liam gives the news to John back at the surgery. John manages to look suitably shocked, but is inwardly pleased that his plan has worked. But has it? One man who isn't taken in by this turn of events is Robert Sugden, who is suspicious about the coincidence that he saw John with Owen earlier. When the police start digging into Owen's background by investigating his medical history, Robert tries to find out more and Claudette (Flo Wilson) lets slip that John visited Owen's house shortly before his death. Corrie's Carla shows her support for Lisa amid therapy - but a shock follows
Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers)'s current troubled state of mind in Coronation Street goes back to the death of her wife, Becky, who was also a police officer. The death of PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), who was killed while on duty, was especially hard for Lisa to deal with as it had echoes of Becky's death. She died while she was chasing a suspect when she was mown down by a getaway car. Lisa's grief was compounded by the fact that Becky had been under investigation by the police force's anti-corruption unit just before her death and this had put a strain on the relationship. In fact they'd had a huge argument on the day that Becky was killed, something that Lisa deeply regretted later as she never had a chance to apologise and make amends for the things she'd said. Craig's funeral, in which his colleagues and loved ones paid their respects, also made Lisa realise that the cloud of suspicion over Becky at the time of her death had meant she was denied the send-off she deserved. Carla (Alison King) persuaded Lisa that therapy could help her move on from these events. Although sceptical, Lisa gave it a try but was immediately on the defensive when the therapist broached the subject of Becky. In upcoming episodes there's an unsettling incident for Lisa when she witnesses a robbery at the Corner Shop and, rather than springing into action, she freezes. She later refuses to talk about this with Carla, who's puzzled by her actions. Wanting to be supportive, Carla encourages Lisa to continue with therapy, saying that she'll feel much better after a few more sessions. Lisa isn't convinced, but hopes that Carla is right. Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) borrows Carla's laptop at work, and sees something on her screen that surprises him. More Trending Is Carla planning to take action of her own in a bid to help Lisa? The drama certainly isn't over for the couple and pictures have emerged from location filming, showing the two women in a park or woodland, with Lisa in tears and Carla consoling her. Debbie kisses stunned Coronation Street resident amid hotel outburst
Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) continues to give those around her cause for concern on Coronation Street as her dementia symptoms apparently worsen. Debbie was diagnosed with the illness earlier this year when she went to the doctor after experiencing disturbing symptoms. After initially trying to keep the devastating news to herself, she recently told her family. She also reconciled with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), who insisted he wanted to be by her side no matter what. Debbie had tried to push Ronnie away by pretending she no longer loved him, concerned that she didn't want him to have to become her carer when her symptoms worsened. Sue Devaney recently revealed that the storyline has a long way to go yet. 'I know the story is going to go on well into 2027, so Debbie's not going anywhere,' she told ITV's Lorraine. 'We wanted to do the diagnosis and get that sorted and then do the journey of living with dementia.' In upcoming episodes Debbie is working at her hotel when a guest makes a complaint to her. Rather than dealing with it in the professional way she normally would, she responds with a rude comment to the guest. He films her tirade on his phone and threatens to post it online – which would obviously be horrendous publicity for the hotel. Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) steps in and manages to smooth the situation over, apologising to the guest and persuading him to delete the footage of Debbie's outburst. More Trending In response, Debbie grabs Ryan and kisses him full on the lips as her way of saying thank you. She obviously doesn't see anything inappropriate in what she's done. Ryan is shocked, but realises that both the outburst and the kiss could be caused by Debbie's dementia. He confides in Ronnie about what happened and tells him that he's worried about her. Ronnie is deeply concerned by what Ryan has told him. Later, Debbie is angry with Ryan, who tells her that he was simply looking out for her because he's a friend and he cares about her. He points out that another assistant manager might not have been as sympathetic. View More » Will Debbie realise that Ryan has her best interests at heart?
