'Der Tiger' anti-war film to screen in German theaters
A preview released Monday shows soldiers facing various dangerous situations on the Eastern Warfront during World War II. The movie is set in 1943.
"The five-man crew of a German Tiger tank is sent on a secret mission far behind the heavily contested front line. As they journey eastward, the soldiers not only find themselves deeper in enemy territory but must also face their own fears and inner demons," an official synopsis reads.
"Stimulated by Wehrmacht methamphetamine, their mission increasingly becomes a journey into the heart of darkness," the description continues.
The film stars David Schutter, Laurence Rupp, Leonard Kunz, Sebastian Urzendowsky, Yoran Leicher, Tilman Straub and Andre M. Hennicke.
Dennis Gansel and Colin Teevan penned the script.
"This special film deserves the biggest stage, said Philip Pratt, an executive at Amazon MGM Studios, per Deadline. "Dennis is not only an award-winning director, but with films like Napola and The Wave, he has proven that he has a special sensitivity for this subject matter."
Der Tiger will also stream on Prime Video, but a specific release date has not yet been announced.

Amazon MGM Studio's James Bond film names ‘Peaky Blinders' writer
The upcoming James Bond movie now has a writer attached to the project. Steven Knight, who has penned projects like Eastern Promises, Apple TV+'s See, Locke and Netflix's wildly popular Peaky Blinders series, was announced as the script writer on Thursday afternoon. He will join director Denis Villeneuve on the highly-anticipated project. David Heyman and Amy Pascal have signed on to produce the project, the first Bond movie in its new home at Amazon MGM Studios. Amazon acquired MGM in 20212, taking control of the extensive collection of 007 movies. It wasn't until February of 2025, however, that the studio was able to negotiate a deal for the rights to the creative control of the character. There has not been a new James Bond announced yet, but the search is apparently on. That hasn't stopped fans from coming up with their own theories on who could take over the mantle from Daniel Craig. Names like Idris Elba, Damson Idris, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi and Harris Dickinson have all been in the online conversation. Craig became Bond in 2006's Casino Royale and went on to star in five total movies as 007. His final outing as the dapper spy was in 2021 with No Time To Die.

Denis Villeneuve's New James Bond Movie Gets Beloved Writer
Denis Villeneuve's new movie has officially found a writer for the highly anticipated next entry in the James Bond universe. Who is writing the new James Bond movie? Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has been tapped to write the new James Bond movie. He'll join Villeneuve as yet another high-profile name to join the new film, which has yet to find a lead, despite countless reports suggesting various names for the new spy. Outside of Peaky Blinders, Knight has worked on countless projects throughout his career. His writing credits include films like Eastern Promises, Hummingbird, Locke, Seventh Son, Maria, and more. He's also one of the three creators of the original quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? He most recently created the television show A Thousand Blows and was previously attached to a Star Wars movie. The James Bond franchise is now in the hands of Amazon MGM Studios following the shocking announcement earlier this year that longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson would be stepping back from their long-time status as producers on the franchise, allowing Amazon MGM Studios to take creative control of the franchise. The agreement sees Amazon MGM Studios and the duo forming a new joint venture house to house the intellectual property rights for the Bond franchise. The three parties will remain co-owners of the Bond series, but now Amazon MGM Studios will have creative control, something that Broccoli and Wilson had retained before. Prior to the announcement, both Wilson and Broccoli had been known as fiercely protective over the franchise, but in a statement on the move, Wilson noted that he was stepping back to focus more on art and charitable projects, while Broccoli said she would be focusing on other projects now. More information about the future of the James Bond franchise, as well as what the next film will be about, remains mysterious for now. Originally reported by Anthony Nash at SuperHeroHype. Epoch Watchlist: Recommended Viewing for Aug. 1–7
This week, we feature a sweet family comedy about a bear and his adoptive family, and a World War II drama set in Burma's steamy jungles. New Release 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) face trouble when Earth is threatened by Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his herald, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). The Fantastic Four must rely on more than their powers. The visuals pop but the heart is missing. Sue and Ben get real moments, but most of the others come off flat. The gender swap for Silver Surfer (from the original cartoon) feels forced and adds nothing. The film is a flashy start to a series, but I'm curious to see if future installments are better.
