Bitcoin mining company HIVE Digital records 18% jump in monthly output

Bitcoin mining company HIVE Digital records 18% jump in monthly output originally appeared on TheStreet.
With a global footprint in Canada, Sweden, and Paraguay, HIVE Digital Technologies (Nasdaq: HIVE) is one of the world's most prominent Bitcoin mining firms.
On July 7, the miner announced that it has recorded a rise of 18% in monthly Bitcoin production in June.
Thanks to the firm successfully running the Phase 1 infrastructure at the new 100 megawatt (MW) facility in Yguazú, Paraguay, HIVE mined 164 Bitcoin in June.
In contrast, the firm mined 139 Bitcoin in May.
Crypto mining is the process of validating and adding transactions to a blockchain by solving cryptographic problems called hashes.
Hashrate is a metric that measures how quickly a crypto miner performs cryptographic calculations to solve blocks in a blockchain. It is calculated in terms of hashes per second, i.e., the number of hash operations executed per second.Since the end of March, the mining firm said it has almost doubled its hashrate as it reached 11.4 exahash per second (EH/s) in June.
HIVE claimed to mine 15 Bitcoin per EH/s in June. It mined 5.5 Bitcoin on a daily basis during the month, it said.
HIVE also announced the official launch of Phase 2 (second 100 MW) at its Paraguay facility. The unit is already running at 0.4 EH/s, more than 5% of the total potential Phase 2 capacity.
Once fully energized, Phase 2 is expected to generate approximately 6.5 EH/s from Bitmain S21+ Hydro miners. It is estimated to expand HIVE's global fleet efficiency to nearly 18.5 J/TH.
HIVE's management expects the firm to scale up to 25 EH/s by American Thanksgiving, i.e., 27 Nov., with the launch of Phase 2.
HIVE co-founder and executive chairman Frank Holmes said, 'With two 100 MW phases in Paraguay and our rapid expansion, we are more than halfway to our 2025 production goal of 12 BTC per day."The Paraguay facility is a key component in HIVE's goal of hitting the target of mining 12 Bitcoin a day toward the end of 2025 as the miner scales revenue and cash flow margins.
HIVE President & CEO Aydin Kilic said, 'Paraguay has become a centerpiece of our green Bitcoin mining strategy. With hydro infrastructure, fiber, and cooling systems now fully operational, we're deploying new capacity at record speed. We expect a major lift in July as Phase 2 scales, propelling us toward our 25 EH/s goal.'
In addition to Bitcoin, HIVE Digital is also focused on expanding its AI prowess.
In June, BUZZ High Performance Computing Inc. (BUZZ HPC), the company's HPC subsidiary, signed a purchase agreement for a 7.2 MW Tier 3 data center facility based in Toronto, Canada. It will support up to 5,000 next-generation graphics processing units (GPUs) for sovereign Canadian AI compute.
During April to June, HIVE Digital issued 38,109,822 common shares that generated gross proceeds of $70 million.
The firm said it is using net proceeds to fuel growth in ASIC and GPU infrastructure, data center expansions, and working capital needs.
The HIVE stock jumped 3.96% to trade at $2.36 at press time.

2 Dirt Cheap Stocks to Buy With $100 Right Now

Written by Demetris Afxentiou at The Motley Fool Canada The market is full of great long-term options for investors to consider. Among those are some truly great, if not dirt cheap stocks to buy, even with just $100 to spare. Here's a look at two prime candidates for investors to consider, which can only be defined as dirt cheap stocks. Have you considered Telus lately? It would be hard to find a stock with a more compelling case for dirt cheap stocks to buy than Telus (TSX:T) right now. Telus is one of Canada's big telecom stocks, offering subscription-based services to customers across Canada. That subscription revenue provides Telus with a recurring, stable revenue stream that lets the telecom invest in growth and pay out a handsome dividend. In the most recent quarter, the telecom posted a 2% gain in operating revenue, which came in at $5.1 billion. The company also managed to keep churn under 1% for the 12th consecutive year, while adding 198,000 new customers. Turning to growth, Telus is focusing on two areas. Earlier this year, Telus announced a whopping $70 billion investment over the next several years. That investment will be used to improve its network infrastructure and operations across the country. That includes both fibre and 5G network enhancements. The other area is Telus' growing digital services arm. That group, known as Telus Digital, provides services to businesses in specific niche markets such as healthcare and agriculture. This provides yet another growing revenue stream for the telecom. Turning to income, Telus really shines as one of the dirt cheap stocks to buy. As of the time of writing, Telus offers an insane 7.3% yield. Not only does this make Telus one of the better-paying dividends on the market, but it also translates into an incredible opportunity for long-term investors. That's because investing just $5,000 into Telus will earn a dividend income sufficient to generate over a dozen shares through reinvestments each year. Throw in the fact that Telus has provided better than annual increases to that dividend for two decades, and you have a must-have stock for any portfolio. All aboard! The growth train is leaving Another one of the dirt cheap stocks for investors to consider right now is Canadian National Railway (TSX:CNR). Canadian National is one of the largest railways on the continent, with a vast network that stretches from coast to coast and down the U.S. Midwest to the Gulf. The railway hauls a variety of goods across that network. In fact, over $250 billion worth of goods traverse that network each year. Those goods can be anything from automotive components and raw materials to crude, precious metals, and wheat. That vast network and the sheer importance of the goods that Canadian National hauls make the stock one of the most defensive picks on the market. And despite that broad defensive appeal, as of the time of writing, Canadian National's stock price trades near its 52-week low. In fact, the stock is down a whopping 16% over the trailing 12-month period. During that same time, the railway's reliable quarterly dividend has grown to an appetizing 2.8%. Adding to that appeal, prospective investors should note that Canadian National has provided annual bumps to that dividend for nearly three decades without fail. In other words, Canadian National, with its reliable business model, wide defensive moat, and juicy yield is one of the dirt cheap stocks that belongs in your portfolio Will you buy these dirt cheap stocks? No stock is without risk, and that applies even to defensive picks like Canadian National and Telus. Fortunately, both the stocks mentioned above not only offer a defensive moat, but also appetizing dividends and growth potential. In other words, they may be a pair of dirt cheap stocks now, but they won't be forever. In my opinion, one or both of these dirt cheap stocks should be core holdings in any well-diversified portfolio. Buy them, hold them, and watch your portfolio grow. Jim Cramer shocks Wall Street with two hot crypto picks

Jim Cramer shocks Wall Street with two hot crypto picks originally appeared on TheStreet. Jim Cramer, the popular host of the CNBC shows "Mad Money" and "Squawk on the Street," is well-known for dropping his hot take on the trending stocks. Whether it's the manufacturing sector or the technology sector, nothing escapes his close scrutiny. What is remarkable about Cramer is that he has made the stock market very accessible to the average Joe, and his wildly exciting manner of presenting the latest updates keeps the audience hooked to the screens. His calls on different stocks have generated a lot of noise over the past few years — both when he nailed them and when he failed to gauge the future trends. Notwithstanding his loud and boisterous manner of presentation, Cramer has earned himself a loyal following over the years. Retail traders from far-flung towns in the U.S. call Cramer during the show and ask for his advice on the prospects of stocks they are considering. And the popular CNBC host doesn't hesitate to share his opinion, however divergent from conventional wisdom it may be, to try to help his callers navigate the markets. Jim Cramer eyes crypto market With several crypto firms going public within the past few years, they have also attracted the attention of the veteran market analyst. Cramer has changed his opinion on crypto over the years. While he was once extremely dismissive of the emerging trend, he has over time come to appreciate the alternative offered by the crypto asset economy. When the AI cloud company CoreWeave (Nasdaq: CRWV) announced the acquisition of the Bitcoin mining firm Core Scientific (Nasdaq: CORZ) on July 7, he called it "very positive." Nonetheless, Cramer doesn't shy away from dissing crypto stocks he doesn't like at the moment. Despite the impressive public debut of Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL), he warned that an established giant like BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) could easily outpace the stablecoin firm once it decides to go all in on the asset category. Now, Cramer has two recommendations in the crypto sector. On Aug. 14, he discussed two crypto stocks in detail on the "Squawk on the Street" show, which we shall dig deeper into. Jim Cramer talks about Bullish Launched in 2011, Peter Thiel-backed Bullish (NYSE: BLSH) is a global crypto trading exchange that went public on Aug. 13. It announced on Aug. 19 that it had arranged to receive $1.15 billion of proceeds from its recently completed initial public offering (IPO) in stablecoins, including Circle's USDC, Ripple's RLUSD, and Donald Trump-backed World Liberty Financial's USD1. Since its public debut, BLSH's shares have seen a decline. Cramer said of the price movement, "Okay, so I think that it was amazing. Basically because it went up, a huge amount. And then there was profit taking... And the fact that Bullish came down a little bit made me feel okay, it's not completely crazed." On July 9, Bullish announced a collaboration with the Solana Foundation, the aim of which is to make Solana-native stablecoins the primary crypto asset used across Bullish's exchange and clearing services. Cramer added, "I was confused by Tom Farley, he's the CEO, talking about how it's gonna be a Solana-based business. Because you can't buy Solana at Fidelity. If you wanna buy Solana at Coinbase, you have to have a picture of your driver's license. I mean they were like carding you to buy Solana. I want to know more about Solana was their choice.' The BLSH stock was trading at $59.09 at press time, down 6.75% a day. Robinhood Markets Launched in 2013, Robinhood Markets (Nasdaq: HOOD) is an electronic trading platform that offers stocks and crypto assets. The company went public in 2021 and recently attracted significant media scrutiny following the launch of tokenized stocks. Cramer thinks Robinhood is miles ahead of other platforms. "A lot of the brokers I think are sitting back, they don't want to admit it on air and say, Oh my god, Robinhood is crushing us." He added, "Uh, I do think that Vlad Tenev has got the brokers of the future. And I think that the other guys have to catch up.' The HOOD stock was trading at $107.87, down 6.22% a day.
