A video captured the moment of Hosam Saraya's death showed a group of armed men wearing military uniforms and face masks shooting eight people while chanting "Allah Akbar" (God is Great).
The American citizen, who studied in Oklahoma, was a member of the Druze community, according to his American relative, who said he returned to Syria to look after his father. She added that the armed men killed all men members of Hosam Saraya's family and left their wives and children.
Imad said his relatives later told him that the prisoners were taken 200 meters to Tishreen Square in central Sweida, where they were lined up and executed. One of the men sent a final message to his friends: "Come and help us if you can. They have surrounded us," Imad said.

JHCO says 26 trucks carrying emergency aid dispatched to Gaza

AMMAN — The Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), in direct coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces -the Arab Army (JAF), said it dispatched 26 trucks carrying food supplies to the Gaza Strip as part of ongoing relief efforts to support the Palestinian people. The organisation said the convoy, which was supposed to be part of a larger flow of aid, faced obstacles on the ground, most notably repeated attacks by Israeli settlers while crossing the West Bank. Some trucks were delayed for hours, it said, adding that, despite sustained efforts, the number of aid trucks reaching the Gaza Strip has declined to fewer than 30 per day, compared to a previous average of 100 to 150. 'This further aggravates the humanitarian and health crisis facing civilians in the enclave,' JHCO said. Secretary-General of the JHCO Hussein Shibli condemned the ongoing 'systematic attacks' on humanitarian aid convoys, affirming that such actions will not deter the organisation from fulfilling its humanitarian duty toward the people of Gaza. He expressed concern over the significant decrease in the number of trucks reaching Gaza, attributing it to the obstacles imposed on the ground. He held the other side [Israel] 'fully responsible', noting that it continues to enforce a policy of siege and restrictions in clear violation of international and humanitarian law. Shibli stressed that Jordan under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, will continue to dispatch relief convoys despite all challenges, in full coordination with the JAF and partner organisations.

JCI issues report on challenges of food industry sector

AMMAN — The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) issued the third report of its reform series "Regulatory Challenges Waiting to be Addressed", which was dedicated to the food, catering, agricultural and livestock industries, one of the sectors most closely related to food security and economic stability. According to a statement issued by JCI, the report comes as a continuation of the institutional approach adopted by the JCI to diagnose the most "prominent" regulatory challenges facing the various industrial sub-sectors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Also, the report offers practical solutions in line with the priorities of the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV), specifically in the item "Unlocking Potential". The report noted that the sector, despite its "strategic" importance, is facing challenges at a time when there is a growing need to expand the production base and enhance reliance on domestic inputs. The JCI stressed that addressing these challenges is a national priority and is in line with the priorities of the EMV and the food security strategy, noting that the solutions proposed in the report do not require new budgets or direct financial support, but rather decisions that enhance local production.

Prime minister urges ministers to prioritise field visits, deliver tangible results, accelerate reforms

AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Wednesday stressed that field work and on-the-ground engagement lie at the heart of public service and the key to effective governance, urging ministers to be present in governorates and deliver tangible results 'Fieldwork is a cornerstone of government action. It allows us to assess challenges firsthand and formulate strategies accordingly,' Hassan told ministers during the first Cabinet session following the reshuffle. Hassan urged ministers, particularly those in service roles, to dedicate time to visiting governorates and remote areas to tackle local challenges, according to a government statement. The prime minister underlined that public service demands full dedication, stating that the time of government officials "does not belong to them, but is a right of Jordan and the Jordanian people." 'The government's direction is clear, as are the requirements and programs for every sector. We know exactly what we want,' Hassan said, urging ministers to work at full capacity and with seriousness to meet national goals without delay, and achieve tangible results on the ground. 'Delays in implementing programmes and projects can carry a high cost and cause us to miss valuable opportunities.' Hassan urged ministers to take initiative within their portfolios and not wait for his instructions. 'You must be proactive and visionary. It is your duty to propose new projects and develop your sectors.' He also emphasised that building institutional capacity is a shared responsibility, not one limited to the minister of public Sector development. 'It is a joint effort, and the government as a whole is responsible for delivering the modernisation Jordan needs.' Highlighting the importance of collaboration and teamwork, Hassan noted that many ministries have overlapping responsibilities. 'Success depends on our ability to function as a team. Achievements must be collective.' Addressing new Cabinet members, the prime minister said that the focus is not on changing direction but on accelerating implementation and strengthening cooperation. 'We begin where your colleagues left off.' Hassan urged ministers to fulfil promises made during field visits to governorates. 'Each of you is accountable for implementing the projects and programmes outlined in the development plans for every governorate.'
