KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- WCE Holdings Bhd's net loss was slightly lower at RM25.33 million in the first quarter ended June 30, 2025 (1Q FY2026), compared to a net loss of RM25.86 million in the same period a year ago.
The company reported in a Bursa Malaysia filing today that its revenue jumped to RM393.85 million in 1Q FY2026 from RM75.57 million previously, driven by increased construction activity and higher toll collection following recent sectional openings.
'Revenue for construction for 1Q FY2026 increased by 710 per cent compared to 1Q FY2025, mainly due to higher construction activity in respect of the rest and service areas (RSAs) construction and remaining sections of the West Coast Expressway.
'The group achieved higher toll collection revenue for 1Q FY2026, an increase of 61 per cent compared to 1Q FY2025, mainly due to higher traffic volume after the opening of the additional sections,' it said.
Meanwhile, it said subsidiary WCE Maju Sdn Bhd undertakes the group's construction activities -- revenue for construction for 1Q FY2026 increased by 230 per cent compared to 1Q FY2025, mainly due to a higher level of construction activity during the period.
On prospects, it said that as at March 31, 2025, eight out of 11 sections are already operational, covering 180 kilometres (km) across Selangor and Perak.
'Notably, the entire Perak alignment (120 km) is now fully completed,' it said.
According to WCE, construction for the final three sections namely, Section 3 (KESAS - Federal Highway Route 2), Section 4 (Federal Highway Route 2 - New North South Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB) and Section 7 (Assam Jawa - Tanjong Karang) is currently ongoing.
'The group is expected to incur losses in the early years of toll operations due to the cessation of capitalisation of interest expenses for completed sections.

Dialog Group Net Profit For FY2025 Slips To RM303.83 Mln

BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Dialog Group Bhd's net profit for the financial year ended June 30, 2025 (FY2025) slid to RM303.83 million compared to RM575.03 million recorded in FY2024. Revenue fell to RM2.5 billion from RM3.15 billion previously, the group said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today. It said the weaker full year performance was primarily impacted by the loss after tax reported in the second quarter, largely due to the one-off impairments in petrochemical and renewable projects, and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) projects cost overruns. For the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2025 (4Q 2025), the group registered a higher net profit of RM147.38 million from RM138.42 million registered in 4Q 2024, while revenue fell to RM608.34 million from RM810.07 million previously. The higher profit was driven by contributions from both Malaysia and International operations, as well as share of profits from the group's joint ventures and associates, it said. On its outlook, it said the group will continue to grow its presence through the development and rejuvenation of oil and gas fields for upstream business. For its downstream business, the group will continue to leverage its strengths and established track record in integrated technical services comprising EPCC, plant maintenance and catalyst handling services, and specialist products and services. 'The group will take a cautious and selective approach to bidding for EPCC contracts, prioritising in-house projects,' it said. -- BERNAMA

80 Hectares Of Silicon Island Reclaimed So Far -PIC

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Reclamation works for Silicon Island have passed the 80-hectare mark, marking steady progress for the largest land reclamation project in Penang to date. The project, which covers a total area of 930.78 hectares, is being developed in two phases, namely 510 hectares under Phase 1 and the remaining 420.9 hectares under Phase 2, with reclamation starting in September 2023. Penang Infrastructure Corporation Sdn Bhd (PIC) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Farizan Darus said the 80-hectare milestone was a positive sign that the project was progressing according to plan, and it was not just about physical progress. 'This project is designed to be a driver of Penang's long-term growth by combining world-class infrastructure, sustainable development practices and community-oriented facilities. 'It will also open up new opportunities for investment, innovation and employment, while ensuring that the local community benefits from better facilities,' he said in a statement today. On the development of the Social Impact Management Plan (SIMP), Farizan said a total of RM11.7 million in ex-gratia payments had been channelled to 791 eligible fishermen, thus strengthening the state government's commitment to the welfare of fishermen. Apart from cash assistance, he said the government had also implemented a boat and engine assistance scheme as part of its ongoing efforts to provide financial guarantees and modern equipment to local fishermen to ensure they can continue their livelihoods more effectively. 'To date, 118 out of 295 active fishermen who own boats have received new boats and engines, with a total expenditure of almost RM10 million,' he said. Earlier, the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib and his wife Toh Puan Raja Noor Ashikin Raja Abdullah visited the project site to witness the achievements and crossed to the island using a 378m temporary iron bridge built at Permatang Damar Laut.
