Plutus Completes Historic Final Reconciliation of PLU Rewards Pool and Announces Burn Schedule
Advertisment
London, UK – April 30, 2025 – Plutus, a pioneer in the tokenisation of real-world assets (RWA) and creator of the first tokenised rewards system, Pluton (PLU) Rewards, laid the foundation for practical blockchain use by tokenising loyalty in 2015, setting a path that many would follow. Today, Plutus remains a leader in fintech, providing on-chain utility with real-world savings to customers across the UK and EU.
Nearly a decade after the initial minting of the PLU Rewards Pool in 2016, Plutus has completed its 11th and final reconciliation in collaboration with Haggards & Crowthers, a UK regulated ACAEW Chartered Accountant, ensuring complete transparency and verification of all transactions.
In the final reconciliation period between July 2024 and April 2025, Plutus cardholders collectively spent approximately $190 million (equivalent in local currencies), earning $13.78 million in savings through in-app PLU rewards. This brings the total all-time spend eligible for rewards to $811 million, out of approximately $1 billion spent with the Plutus Card, delivering an estimated $58 million in in-app savings to customers since inception.
These milestones are built on the groundbreaking 2015 whitepaper written by Plutus Founder Danial Daychopan. The paper introduced the concept of tokenised loyalty rewards and is also the first recorded document to coin the term 'DEX' to describe PlutusDEX, a one-of-a-kind non-custodial crypto-to-fiat exchange, facilitating up to $50 million value in swaps for card top-ups over five years.
Following the reconciliation of all eligible rewards, 2,478,822.91 PLU remains from the original 20,000,000 PLU Rewards Pool. This amount will be burned alongside 521,177.09 PLU from the Plutus Treasury, bringing the total burn to 3,000,000 PLU starting on 20th May 2025, and reducing the total supply from 20 million to 17 million by 20th July 2025.
Further token burns are scheduled in the coming quarters, aiming to reduce the total supply to 13.8 million PLU, with the final burn expected on 20th December 2025, subject to confirmation. The approach highlights Plutus' commitment to creating a sustainable, efficient, and transparent reward system.
'The PLU burn marks a shift to a timeless rewards system, ensuring consistent, sustainable savings through our network of partners within the app. This move benefits everyday spenders, paving the way for utility-driven rewards, plus more from your daily card spending.'
– Danial Daychopan, Founder & CEO of Plutus.
The PLU burn marks the end of PLU emissions and is part of Plutus' shift to a dual-token system. Going forward, only the PLU that customers have already earned will be available for stacking to unlock savings and rewards in the app via connected wallets, with no new PLU being issued. Meanwhile, this will be replaced by a new Dynamic Rewards system, that offers instant, redeemable rewards within the app.
This strategic shift creates a clear distinction between external stacking and redeemable rewards earned in-app, ensuring greater clarity, and consistent savings for Plutus customers.

Samsung says the Galaxy Fold Ultra is a multitasking powerhouse, but it needs to upgrade this feature first
I've been using the Galaxy Z Fold 6 as my daily driver since it came out last year, and while it's packed full of features, it still needs a few things to convince me it's the productivity powerhouse to beat. While I'm eager for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to arrive sometime this summer to replace it, Samsung has me intrigued by its Galaxy Fold Ultra announcement. The teaser caught me by surprise because the last thing I want is to pay even more for another best foldable phone contender, especially when the Galaxy Z Fold 6 commanded an $1,899 premium when it launched. So, it wouldn't surprise me if the Fold Ultra exceeds $2,000. However, the one part about the teaser that makes it promising to me is how Samsung says it's 'a spacious workspace or a multitasking powerhouse' when it's unfolded. Having been a Galaxy Z Fold 6 user for nearly a year now, I know exactly how it can replace my laptop with the help of Samsung DeX, but there's one key feature Samsung needs to bring back to really sell this promise to me. It's support for multiple users. Strangely enough, Samsung offered support for multiple users with its software for a number of years. The last time it was available was through the One UI 5 beta, but it was scrapped with the stable release — with subsequent versions of One UI omitting it as well. Support for multiple users has been a core feature of Android, but some phone makers (like Samsung) have opted to disable it. Meanwhile, Google, Motorola, Nothing, and many other Android phone makers have kept it with their phones. It's an annoyance I know all too well using phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy S25 Ultra the last few months. If Samsung intends on making the Galaxy Fold Ultra a true multitasking powerhouse, it needs to bring back this feature — mainly for the fact that switching Google profiles in Chrome isn't the same as on a desktop. By having the ability to switch Google accounts on the Galaxy Fold Ultra, it would better serve as a personal and work device. One of the biggest incentives for using Samsung DeX is how it delivers that desktop PC-like experience with its interface, so given how the Galaxy Fold Ultra can open up with a bigger canvas to work with, it makes sense DeX will get a big makeover. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Samsung hasn't changed or added much to DeX in the last few years. But there's something promising about this year's One UI 7 release that has me excited after the events of Google I/O 2025. During its developer conference, Google quietly teased the new Android 16 desktop mode it's working on in collaboration with Samsung by 'building on the foundation' of the DeX platform. I already make good use of Samsung DeX to run three and sometimes four apps simultaneously, which is nearly impossible to juggle on a standard slate phone — but it's practical on a larger monitor. The problem with the current implementation is that there's no way to switch profiles in Chrome, nor does it support all the extensions and plug-ins I rely on to do my work. This is why Samsung needs to bring back multiple users support with One UI 8. If the Galaxy Fold Ultra is going to transform the way I work, I can't stress enough the need for multiple users support. At the very least, it could silo different types of accounts on one device. For anyone with kids, they could also lean on this feature to create a kids-only account. I'm hopeful that the One UI 8 beta release does come with is, which is something I intend on investigating.

United Airlines' and JetBlue's 'Blue Sky' partnership brings loyal flyers reciprocal benefits
Loyal United Airlines and JetBlue flyers have a lot to look forward to with the two carriers' recently announced "Blue Sky" partnership. The new alliance will give United MileagePlus and JetBlue TrueBlue members reciprocal perks when flying — they'll be able to earn and redeem miles on either airline, enjoy status benefits onboard both and buy flights from either carrier's website. United Airlines, whose major Northeast hub is at Newark Liberty International Airport, will also have space at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as early as 2027. While not all of the specifics have been announced yet, here's what we know so far. On May 29, United Airlines and JetBlue announced Blue Sky, a new initiative aimed at providing their frequent flyers with more travel — and credit card rewards earning/redemption — options. The collaboration brings reciprocal benefits to United MileagePlus and JetBlue TrueBlue members, the airlines' loyalty programs, with changes rumored to go into effect as early as this fall. JetBlue has a significant East Coast presence, which means teaming up with United gives its flyers more access across the U.S. Some of United's main hubs include Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Denver International Airport and Houston Intercontinental Airport. United also has a much larger international network that JetBlue flyers can tap into. For United flyers, the alliance with JetBlue opens up their options when flying along the East Coast or to the Caribbean. They can also now add JFK as an alternative for in and out of New York. With the Blue Sky partnership, JetBlue's TrueBlue members will be able to earn and use points for flights across United's global network, including domestic and international flights. United's MileagePlus customers will be provided the same opportunity for "most" JetBlue flights, with further details hopefully coming in the future. The ability to earn and redeem points across airlines is a big perk, especially for travelers who take advantage of transfer partners where available. JetBlue points can be earned by a handful of credit card issuers, with American Express Membership® Rewards, Capital One Miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards® and Citi ThankYou® Rewards all transferring at different ratios. United is a little trickier and only has Chase Ultimate Rewards points and Bilt Rewards Points as transfer partners. This partnership will now likely grant additional ways to indirectly access United's network through transferring points to JetBlue and redeeming via United flights. This could be possible with cards like the American Express® Gold Card or the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, two popular travel cards that you may already have in your wallet. As part of Blue Sky, United and JetBlue will offer flights on one another's websites and mobile apps so you can book on either seamlessly. Both carriers will continue to publish and market flights independently, not a codeshare, however. United will also shift how it provides hotels, rental cars, cruises and vacation booking via its website and mobile apps, moving to services provided by JetBlue's Paisly platform. WazirX's Restructuring Plan Declined by Singapore Court, Hacked Indian Exchange Says
Embattled Indian crypto exchange WazirX's restructuring plan has hit a major snag, with the Singapore High Court declining to approve the crypto exchange's proposed scheme to repay creditors. The decision effectively delays any payouts that were expected to begin as early as April 2025. 'The Honourable Singapore High Court issued an order declining to approve our proposed restructuring plan,' WazirX said in an email to creditors. 'While this outcome was not what we anticipated, we respect the Court's decision and remain fully committed to complying with all legal and regulatory processes. Our primary focus remains to begin distributions as soon as possible,' it claimed. The court initially approved WazirX's plan in January after the exchange sought protection from liquidation in the wake of a devastating $230 million hack by North Korea's Lazarus Group. The scheme would have allowed creditors to vote on whether to accept the plan, with payouts promised within 10 business days of activation. That plan also included launching a decentralized exchange (DEX), issuing recovery tokens, and implementing periodic buybacks to support liquidity. But with the court's latest decision, the timeline for creditor repayment has again been thrown into uncertainty. If the restructuring ultimately fails, WazirX could face liquidation under section 301 of the Singapore Companies Act, which might result in fire-sale prices for remaining assets and lower compensation for creditors, as previously reported. WazirX has faced overwhelming criticism for its slow communication and limited success in asset recovery, and severely limiting the ability for users to interact with its social media accounts. The exchange once dominated crypto trading in India, but many are now left wondering if they will ever see their money again.
