Fever sign another guard to 7-day contract to ease loss of season-ending injuries to PGs

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever announced Thursday they have signed Kyra Lambert to a seven-day contract. The Fever qualify for the roster spot due to the season-ending injuries to Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald.
Caitlin Clark remains out with a right groin injury and Colson and McDonald's injuries left the Fever without a healthy point guard. The team signed Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract last week to help ease some of the point guard depth concerns.
Lambert, a 5-9 point guard, has spent most of her professional career in Europe, spending time in Greece, France (Toulouse), Latvia (TTT Riga), New Zealand (Whai), Slovakia (Slavia Banska Bystrica) and Turkey (Karsiyaka). She won the Greek A1 League with Olympiacos this past season, averaging 15.4 points on 42.1% shooting, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals.
Lambert spent five seasons at Duke, where she totaled 630 points and 245 assists over 95 games. She tore her ACL in the first round of the 2017 NCAA tournament as a sophomore, an injury which sidelined her for the entirety of her junior campaign. She returned for the 2018-19 campaign and was recognized as a preseason candidate for the Nancy Lieberman Award (top point guard), but suffered another torn ACL during the preseason.
Lambert returned from that second tear and started in 21 of 30 games as a graduate student, averaging 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals. She finished her career at Texas, where she averaged seven points and 3.1 assists over 29 games.
Lambert will wear No. 15 for the Fever.

Caitlin Clark can dunk on LeBron James in NBA 2K26

NBA 2K has Caitlin Clark DUNKING on LeBron James 🤣 Some sports moments can only happen in video games, like Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark dunking on superstar Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James. While that's an improbable scenario in real life despite how amazing Clark is at basketball, NBA 2K26 allows for gamers to pit the two hoops legends against each other to the point where Clark can actually dunk on James. A viral clip from the upcoming NBA/WNBA video game shows Clark dunking on James and even taunting him after the fact. Again, this can only happen in a video game, but what a glorious example of why video games are so fun. Watch this as many times as you'd like! Whenever you play with the Fever against the Lakers, make sure to recreate this hysterical clip. When does NBA 2K26 come out? The game will be released on Friday, Sept. 5.

Paige Bueckers responds to Sophie Cunningham's officiating criticisms

Paige Bueckers essentially responded to criticism from fellow WNBA star Sophie Cunningham with a shrug. Following the Indiana Fever's one-point loss to Bueckers and the Dallas Wings earlier this week, Cunningham publicly lamented what she believed were favorable calls for the former UConn point guard. 4 Paige Bueckers guarded by Sophie Cunningham on Aug. 1. AP Bueckers scored 16 points but only attempted four free throws in the win. 'I love Paige to death, do not get me wrong. I think she's a hell of a player and would love to play with her one day, but those refs were giving her every whistle last night,' Cunningham said Wednesday on her 'Show Me Something' podcast. 'You literally couldn't touch her, couldn't touch her. That s–t is so annoying to me. 'And if you're going to do that, then give it to our guards. I just hate the inconsistency.' Asked for her response before Friday's 97-96 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, Buckers told reporters, 'Everyone is entitled to their own unique personal opinion.' Bueckers, the first overall pick in the 2025 draft, is averaging 18.8 points and 5.4 assists in her first 27 WNBA games. 4 Bueckers (l) and Cunningham (r) battle for a rebound. Cunningham caused a stir on social media Friday by posting two photos on social media on Friday, one with her and goats and the other with her and Clark having a fun moment. 'They smell the same, too,' Cunningham wrote. 4 Cunningham (r) made comments about the calls Bueckers (l) receives. Les Aiglons won four of their final five fixtures to snag fourth place at the end of the 2024/25 season, while Toulouse is hoping to progress its prospects after a mid-table finish. That being said, Nice has already started its campaign after losing to Benfica in a two-legged Champions League qualifier play-off. As a result, Franck Haise's men will settle for a spot in the second-tier Europa League. It was only two seasons ago that Toulouse took part in the continental competition itself, with the club targeting a return to those sunny climes this term. And manager Carles Martinez Novell will be bringing much of the same team to the fore this time around, though much of Toulouse's summer business has been through the departures gate. The same can be said for Nice, which has sold defender Jean-Clair Todibo (who spent last season on loan at West Ham anyway), striker Evann Guessand, and goalkeeper Marcin Bulka for a combined fee of around $100 million. The club has spent just $25 million on new signings in a frugal trend among Ligue 1 clubs this summer, but Nice will nonetheless hope it's enough to break back into the elite spots.
