The Phoenix Suns are expected to trade Kevin Durant this offseason after missing the playoffs and play-in tournament this year.

Durant, who turns 37 in September, has one year left on his contract. He's been heavily linked to the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
One of the greatest players in NBA history, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
Durant doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, but he and his camp are working together with the Suns to find a logical landing spot and a team with two future Hall of Famers has been talking to Phoenix about a KD trade.

According to Matt Moore of Hardwood Paroxysm, the Los Angeles Clippers have called the Suns about trading for Durant.

They are looking for bigger fish to fry, though I think a deal ultimately is unlikely,' Moore wrote. 'Instead of revealing the shocker that they're a team that has talks with Phoenix about KD, how about this: they, like everyone else in the league, has called Phoenix about KD and just happen to be one of the teams that those talks have gotten out about.'
A top 75 player of all time, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He's a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.
Durant played with Clippers guard James Harden in OKC and Brooklyn. Harden is expected to decline his 2025-26 player option and sign a new deal with the Clippers, who are led by Harden and two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.
Durant, Harden and Leonard will be in the Hall of Fame one day. It will be interesting to see if the Clippers find a way to acquire KD this summer.

Toronto Raptors could pivot from Giannis Antetokounmpo trade for this multi-time All-Star
If they got their way, the Toronto Raptors would emerge from this offseason as winners of the potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes. Yet, there's no guarantee the Milwaukee Bucks are even open to trading the face of their franchise. Thus, if the Raptors can't build a trade proposal strong enough for the Bucks to bite, they need to have other options available. However, based on the latest report, the Raptors will indeed be prepared to swing for the fences for another blockbuster trade. Advertisement According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Raptors could be a team that makes a play for 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant. With the Phoenix Suns already widely expected to trade Durant, it only makes sense for Toronto to get a price check on the future Hall of Famer. 'But Toronto has likewise been painted by numerous NBA figures as a potential trade suitor for Durant … particularly if Antetokounmpo doesn't reach the open market. The Raptors, furthermore, would figure to have a more realistic shot at assembling a competitive trade offer for Durant compared to the mammoth offers that the Bucks would inevitably seek for Antetokounmpo's services. The Greek Freak also happens to be six years younger than Durant, is still playing at an MVP level and, most crucially, has two more guaranteed years left on his contract.' Marc Stein on Toronto Raptors' interest in Kevin Durant While Antetokounmpo would be the more celebrated trade, he's also much more expensive to acquire, and that's if he's even remotely available. Thus, trading for a 36-year-old Durant would be far more feasible. Not only would trading for Durant require the Raptors to part with fewer assets, he's guaranteed to be available, unlike chasing after Antetokounmpo, which could result in a gigantic waste of time. All-Star forward reportedly expects to be traded to the San Antonio Spurs this summer
The San Antonio Spurs entered the offseason focused on finding high-end talent to start building a playoff-caliber team around Victor Wembanyama. While the second pick in the 2025 NBA Draft might be the primary avenue to upgrade the roster, at least one All-Star thinks he'll be playing in San Antonio next season. According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports' Burns & Gambo, Durant told someone close to him that he believes he'll wind up playing for the Spurs next season. While the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors have also been linked as potential landing spots, the All-Star forward seems to believe San Antonio is his likeliest destination. Related: Promising Spurs news on Victor Wembanyama recovery Kevin Durant contract (Spotrac): $54.708 million cap hit in 2025-'26 The incentive for the Spurs is obvious. While Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the superior talent, he still hasn't requested a trade and some teams now doubt he will. Even if he did, the cost of acquiring him would essentially drain out the Spurs' collection of draft picks and young assets. Advertisement Instead, San Antonio can keep the second overall pick to draft guard Dylan Harper and instead offer Phoenix a deal involving future draft picks or the 14th overall pick. It's a far more cost-effective avenue to upgrade the roster and with Durant on an expiring deal, it also provides the club more long-term flexibility. Kevin Durant trade expected soon, NBA Conference Finals contender likely to pursue him
There's no debate that Kevin Durant is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer. What is up for debate is what team the Phoenix Suns superstar will be playing for when the 2025-26 NBA season tips off. The Suns are working hard to trade the 15-time All-Star, and several teams are expected to have interest. Possibly even one of the teams from the NBA's Conference Finals. Advertisement Specifically, ESPN's NBA insider Brian Windhorst suggests the New York Knicks could be among the teams that pursue a Durant trade in the next few weeks. 'I do believe Kevin Durant will be traded in the coming weeks. I expect them to look into the Durant trade market pretty soon. There are going to be a handful of teams that have interest in Durant. They key is this, he has one year left on his contract. Is he going to want to sign an extension and is he going to want to be part of the process in a trade and are the Suns going to let him be?' ESPN's Brian Windhorst on Kevin Durant trade The 36-year-old Durant will surely want to sign with a contending team. Moreso, he'll want to land in a place that could become his final destination in the NBA, knowing contract discussions will be taking place in the near future. Thus, a team like the Knicks would make a lot of sense. Not only are they in a massive market that can take advantage of Durant's superstardom, they'll be a playoff contender for multiple years. Yet, the Knicks are far from the only team that makes sense for Durant this summer. Other teams that have been loosely linked to a Durant trade include the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. The Timberwolves have their built-in Anthony Edwards connection with Durant after the two won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics, yet, the idea of playing with Victor Wembanyama has to be intriguing too. Advertisement Ultimately, as Windhorst mentioned, it could come down to whether Durant has any say on where he'll be traded to next.
