YSU senior finishes Top-10 at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships
EUGENE, Oregon (WKBN) – YSU senior Tye Hunt finished 10th in the long jump at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday.
Hunt's best jump measured 7.77m at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
University of Florida senior and three-time First Team All-American Malcolm Clemons won the event with a jump of 8.04m on his first attempt to win his first national title.
Hunt was one of 24 finalists in the country to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
He posted a season-best 7.92m at the Virginia Challenge in April. He also qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships last year and finished in ninth place to earn All-American honors.
Hunt's teammate Hunter Christopher will compete in the 5,000m NCAA finals on Friday. This marks the fourth consecutive season that Youngstown State has sent two athletes to Eugene for the NCAA Finals.

Heat legend Udonis Haslem sidesteps Kevin Durant trade question in awkward moment
Udonis Haslem was caught in the crossfire on Friday. The ESPN analyst and team vice president of player development for the Heat was in the middle of it on 'The Pat McAfee Show' when insider Shams Charania joined as a guest to discuss the latest game of the NBA Finals and the offseason trade rumors, specifically those surrounding Kevin Durant. The conversation pivoted to Durant, as the 15-time All-Star is seemingly the most available big-time player this summer with the report of Giannis Antetokounmpo likely staying put in Milwaukee. Advertisement Charania brought up that Miami is among the teams aggressively coveting the 15-time All-Star, as they have in the past. McAfee went on to ask for Haslem, who played with the Heat from 2003-23, for his perspective. 3 Udonis Haslem didn't answer any trade rumor questions about Kevin Durant in regard to the Heat. X @PatMcAfeeShow Advertisement That's when the long-time Heat legend and three-time NBA champion had to sidestep the question, making for an awkward moment. 'Kevin Durant would fit in anywhere, but definitely I think he fits into Miami Heat culture,' Haslem said. 'I can't speak too much on it, but I would say he's a guy who comes in and just has to be Kevin Durant.' 'Yo, UD, speak on it, man,' Charania interjected. 'You're on 'The Pat McAfee Show.'' Advertisement Haslem laughed it off, but made it clear that his role within the Heat could be getting in the way of any Durant discussions or possible trade conversations. 'I'm the vice president of player development. I gotta keep my coins coming in,' he said. 'If he happens to come into the Miami Heat locker room, he comes into a situation where you have a Hall of Fame coach already … you've got a team that has a culture already. So the questions that people have about Kevin Durant, can he be a leader? He doesn't have to be a leader in Miami. They already have leadership, they already have a culture, they already have a hell of a head coach who's a figure.' 3 Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns looks on during the game against the Houston Rockets on March 30, 2025 at PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. NBAE via Getty Images Charania reported the top teams after Durant are Houston, Minnesota, and Miami, and that the trade could come 'in the next few days.' Advertisement It's not necessarily a unique situation, as other analysts around other mainstream sports run into the colliding views at times. 3 Udonis Haslem played for the Miami Heat from 2003 to 2023. NBAE via Getty Images And it was probably a smart move by Haslem to give an open-ended answer, especially since he could have indirectly harmed the Heat if given a different answer. The NBA fines teams and takes away draft picks for 'tampering' with opposing teams' players. 'Kevin Durant has put himself in a situation where he's earned the right to pick and choose where he wants to go,' he added.

NBA Trade Idea Gives Lakers' LeBron James, Luka Doncic New All-Star Teammate
NBA Trade Idea Gives Lakers' LeBron James, Luka Doncic New All-Star Teammate originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Lakers were the third seed in the Western Conference this season. They faced the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs and had home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series. Advertisement However, the Timberwolves defeated the Lakers in five quick games, sending LeBron James and Luka Doncic home early. For Los Angeles to win a championship in the James-Doncic era, president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka may need to acquire a third All-Star this offseason. With that said, Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World proposed that the Lakers make a blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz this summer. This NBA trade idea sends Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen to the Los Angeles Lakers. © Chris Nicoll-Imagn Images Bitar proposed that the Lakers trade Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, the 55th overall pick in this year's draft and a 2031 first-round pick to the Jazz for Lauri Markkanen. Advertisement "If Pelinka waves the Reaves-Hachimura-Vanderbilt trio plus a 2031 first, Markkanen slides in as the ultimate Luka-LeBron release valve. Picture the high-side pick-and-pop with Doncic, then pivoting to horns sets where James can rest on the weak side and still warp the defense with his gravity," Bitar wrote. Markkanen appeared in 47 games for the Jazz this season. He averaged 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks while shooting 42.3% from the field, 34.6% from beyond the arc and 87.6% from the free-throw line. A one-time All-Star, Markkanen will make $46.4 million next season. According to Sarah Todd of the Deseret News, the Jazz are willing to hear trade offers for Walker Kessler and Markkanen. Advertisement The Jazz, who had the worst record in the Western Conference this season, could be active over the next several weeks. The Irishman, chasing his first major victory since 2019 at The Open, got off to a rough start at Oakmont Country Club, sitting at 2-over par through seven holes when he reached the drivable par-4 17th hole. Advertisement That's when his frustrations hit a boiling point. Lowry tried to chip his ball out of the thick rough but his ball barely moved and a microphone paid the price. Shane Lowry had a disastrous showing on Day 1 of the 2025 U.S. Open. AP Things only spiraled from there. Lowry, who finished at 4-over 39 through the first nine holes, added three bogeys and two double bogeys on his final nine holes. His highlight of the day was an eagle on the par-4 third hole where he holed out from 160 yards out. Lowry was considered one of the favorites in the event after he held the 54-hole lead in 2016, the last time the US Open was held at Oakmont. Shane Lowry tossed a microphone in frustration. McIlroy, fresh off completing golf's Grand Slam after his Masters win in April, said, 'It felt impossible.' The Northern Irishman, who won the U.S. Open in 2011 at the Congressional Country Club, finished with a 4-over 74. Bryson DeChambeau, the reigning U.S. Open champion, also struggled Thursday and wrapped his opening round at 3-over 73.
