Dharma Productions responds to abuse allegations against 'Homebound' crew
Dharma Productions, the production house behind the critically acclaimed film Homebound, has released an official statement in response to the recent abuse allegations levelled against the film's cinematographer, Pratik Shah.
The allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women surfaced on social media platforms, prompting Shah to delete his Instagram account amid a backlash.
To this, the production has said no formal complaints were made against Shah.
"At Dharma Productions, we have a zero-tolerance policy against inappropriate behaviour and sexual harassment toward any individual working with us in any capacity, and we treat sexual harassment cases very seriously," the company said in a statement.
It also said that Shah, who worked as a freelance cinematographer on Homebound, was engaged for a limited duration.
The production house emphasised that during this period, no complaints were filed with the internal committee established under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment guidelines.
Homebound, which was the only Indian film to be featured at this year's Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section, has garnered significant international attention.
The film, produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, received a standing ovation after its Cannes screening.
The film stars an ensemble cast, including Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa.

Pakistan to play in Colombo when India hosts Women's World Cup
Pakistan will play all their women's 50-over World Cup matches in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo when India hosts this year's tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Monday. Politically-estranged India and Pakistan, who have not played a bilateral series since 2013, will play their matches in neutral venues when either country hosts an ICC event, the sport's global governing body announced in December. "The venues for the knockouts are dependent on Pakistan qualifying as two alternative venues have been identified for one semifinal and the final," the ICC said. "Colombo will be the venue for the first semifinal and the final only if Pakistan qualify for those stages." Bengaluru, where the tournament will start with India playing in the opening match, will host the final on November 2 if Pakistan are knocked out earlier in the tournament, the ICC added. Bengaluru will also stage the second semifinal on October 30, a day after the first semifinal in Colombo or Guwahati. Visakhapatnam and Indore are the two other host cities for the eight-team tournament. India played all their matches in Dubai when Pakistan hosted the men's Champions Trophy this year, including the final which they won. Both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League were suspended last month amid clashes between the two countries following an attack targeting tourists that killed 26 people in Kashmir in April. Matches resumed after a ceasefire was announced. The neutral venue arrangement between the countries will also be in place for the men's T20 World Cup in 2026, which India will co-host with Sri Lanka, and the women's T20 World Cup in 2028 in Pakistan.

India's Adani denies sanctions evasion or Iran LPG trade after WSJ reports US probe
India's Adani Group on Monday denied "any deliberate engagement" in sanctions evasion or trade involving Iranian-origin liquefied petroleum gas, after the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. prosecutors were probing whether Adani entities had imported Iranian LPG into India through their Mundra port. An Adani spokesperson called the report "baseless and mischievous" in a statement, adding: "We are not aware of any investigation by U.S. authorities on this subject." The WSJ said it had found tankers travelling between the Gulf and billionaire Gautam Adani's Mundra port in western India exhibiting traits that experts say are common for ships evading sanctions. It said the U.S. Justice Department was reviewing the activities of several LPG tankers used to ship cargoes to Adani Enterprises, the group's flagship entity, citing people familiar with the matter. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report and the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Adani said it did not handle any cargo from Iran at its ports, as a matter of policy. It said all its LPG trade, which accounts for 1.46% of Adani Enterprises' total revenue, was fully compliant with domestic and international laws, including U.S. sanctions regulations. A shipment referred to by the WSJ was handled as a "routine commercial transaction" via third-party logistics partners and supported by documentation identifying Sohar, Oman, as the port of origin, Adani said.
