Arsenal in talks with AC Milan winger Rafael Leão

Yahoo24-05-2025

Arsenal have been in talks recently with AC Milan winger Rafael Leão (25), according to Foot Mercato. The Gunners are planning to inject fresh blood in attack and the former Lille winger is reportedly part of Andrea Berta's short-list. The Arsenal Sporting Director was in talks with Leão over the phone this month to make Arsenal's interest known. The Portugal international is tied with Sergio Conceição's Rossoneri over a contract set to expire in 2028.
Leão may leave for pastures new as Milan have failed to qualify for Europe next season. Indeed, Milan are certain to finish out of the top 6 in Serie A, which may force their hands in the transfer market to sell their prized assets. The Portuguese winger may very well play his final game with Milan tonight at home against Monza. Leão had a middling season with the Serie A giants. He logged 12 goals and 13 assists in 50 games played in all competitions.
Foot Mercato adds that Leão does not top Arsenal's shortlist as the Gunners will prioritize other targets to strengthen Mikel Arteta's squad.

Portugal vs Spain Prediction & Nations League Betting Tips: Champs to Retain Title

Holders Spain come into the final as clear favourites after their win over France (Getty) Portugal vs Spain Betting Tips Spain to win, both teams to score - 12/5 Bet365 Lamine Yamal to score anytime - 2/1 William Hill The 2025 Nations League final takes place in Munich this weekend as two of the world's best international sides face off at the Allianz Arena. Roberto Martinez's Portugal side will take on Spain after the Selecao beat host nation Germany in the semi-finals thanks to a 68th-minute winner from a 40-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo. Advertisement La Roja came through their own difficult semi-final tie against France to make the final, with another stellar showing from Lamine Yamal originally helping them go 4-1 up only for Les Bleus to almost force extra-time with a late 5-4 comeback. And a long Nations League campaign all comes down to this in Munich, with each side looking to take home an international trophy before moving on to their respective World Cup qualifying campaigns. European champions and current holders Spain are the early favourites priced at 4/9 to lift the trophy, while Portugal, who won the inaugural Nations League tournament in 2019, are offered at 13/8 with football betting sites. Nations League Final Prediction: Spain to Clinch Second Straight Crown Despite the obvious talent in the Portugal team, it is holders Spain who enter the match as 17/20 favourites to win in normal time, compared to the odds of 29/10 offered for the Selecao. Advertisement Spain's tag as European champions and their recent dominant displays mean that it's hard to bet against Luis de la Fuente's side on current form, though the quick turnaround in the match against France shows that they can be vulnerable at times. Spearheaded by a young core including Yamal, Pedri and players such as Dean Huijsen, Spain have not lost a single match since winning Euro 2024, and have scored 25 goals in their last 10 games. However, matches like the ones against France and the Netherlands show that they do have defensive weaknesses at times, and they did require penalties to get past the Dutch in the quarter-finals. Portugal will look to take advantage of the kind of lapse in concentration that allowed France to almost pull the game back, with Spain having kept just three clean sheets in their last 10 matches. In addition, Martinez's side have only failed to score on two occasions in the last 10 games, so you'd think they'll have a chance of finding the net in the final. Advertisement To that end, while we think La Roja are clearly favourites for a reason, we think a wager on Spain to win and both teams to score could provide value at around 5/2 with various betting sites. Nations League final prediction 1: Spain to win, both teams to score - 12/5 Bet365 Nations League Betting Tips: Yamal to Make The Difference Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal seems to be taking the fight for the Ballon d'Or personally at this point, attempting to answer everything that Ousmane Dembele produces with goals and assists of his own. And while the Frenchman's Champions League success means he'll probably grab the prestigious individual award, Yamal will clearly have plenty of chances to win it himself in the next few years. Advertisement His performance against France produced two goals to take his tally to three in the last three matches for La Roja, and three in the knockout stages of this competition. Overall, the 18-year-old has scored five goals in five matches in all competitions (for club and country) as the season approaches its end, and has continued to dazzle since his notable performances in the Champions League semi-finals last month. With that in mind, we think a wager on the youngster to score in the final could present value at 2/1 on betting apps. When does transfer window close? Liverpool's deadline for signing Florian Wirtz

Liverpool is looking to get its business done early on in the transfer window, with Jeremie Frimpong already through the door and prodigious Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pecsi joining him on Saturday. Pecsi, 20, has been signed for a fee that could rise to $2 million and is expected to play for Liverpool's Under-21 team next term, while also benefiting from training alongside Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Advertisement The signing that the majority of Liverpool fans are most excited about, though, is that of Florian Wirtz, who is expected to secure a move to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen. It emerged last month that Wirtz had decided he wanted to join Liverpool over Bayern Munich, and the Reds have been working to try to get a deal over the line in recent weeks. Liverpool is hopeful of tying up a deal for Wirtz before the first transfer window of the summer closes on Tuesday, June 10, but even if the deal is not done by then, the second window of the summer opens less than a week later and runs until the beginning of September, so the Reds will not panic if Wirtz's signature hasn't been secured by June 10. Advertisement The new transfer window that opened on June 1 was introduced so that clubs participating in this summer's revamped Club World Cup could make signings ahead of the tournament getting underway in mid-June. Liverpool made an improved bid to sign Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen late this week, hoping to end the transfer saga that started in mid-May. In the late evening on Friday night UK-time, it was reported that the Reds had upped their bid to a figure of $153 million (£113 million) — around $135 million (£100 million) base and up to around $18 million (£13 million) in add-ons. Advertisement Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Liverpool is "advancing" to complete the Wirtz deal in the coming days, with negotiations in the "final stages." It's claimed the player will then travel to Merseyside to complete his medical. This bid is thought to be below Bayer Leverkusen's valuation of the player, thought to be around $170 million (£126 million).

Liverpool announces second summer transfer after chasing Florian Wirtz

Armin Pecsi has signed a contract with Liverpool after agreeing to join the Anfield club from Hungarian side from Puskas Academy. The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in the world and was last month nominated for the Golden Boy award, which is awarded to the best young player in the world. He's Liverpool's second signing of the summer after Jeremie Frimpong, while Florian Wirtz is edging closer to joining the Reds. Advertisement Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher said that it was an easy decision to leave Liverpool upon completing his transfer to fellow Premier League side Brentford earlier this week. Reflecting on his exit from Anfield and his arrival at his new club, Kelleher said: 'I'm buzzing, I'm really happy to be here. 'I don't think it was very difficult for me to leave [Liverpool]. I felt for my own career that the time was right for me to go, to be a no.1 and to play every week. 'I heard of some interest a number of weeks ago. Once I knew Brentford was in for me, it was definitely one I was really excited about and wanted to do as quickly as possible. Advertisement 'When I come back for pre-season, all focus will be on what I want to do next year; to work on certain goals and what I need to improve on, and to have a really good season for Brentford." Liverpool's new No. 2 goalkeeper, Mamardashvili, confirmed last month that he will move to Anfield at the end of the season after there were some suggestions that he might spend another season at Valencia. "I'll go to Liverpool and give my all, just like I did at Valencia," Mamardashvili said. "I'll work hard every single day, training with Alisson will help me."
