Shelbourne and Linfield paired in mouthwatering Champions League cross-border qualifier

It's an all-Irish derby in the first round of Champions League qualifying between Damien Duff and David Healy's teams Shelbourne and Linfield are set to clash in an historic Champions League qualifier that pits two Irish sides against each other. And in an intriguing sub-plot, it will be former Celtic coach Damien Duff against ex- Rangers midfielder David Healy in the dugouts. ‌ Duff led Shelbourne to an upset league title last season and they entered today's first qualifying round draw knowing there was a chance of an all-Irish derby against Linfield, the longstanding dominant force in Northern Irish football. ‌ And so it's proved with the sides set to meet first in Dublin on Tuesday July 8 or Wednesday July 9 with the second leg at Windsor Park a week later. It will be the second cross-border clash in a year with Shamrock facing Larne in the Conference League in October. But the stakes are higher this time with the champions from both divisions facing in a qualifier for UEFA's top competition. Linfield stormed to the Irish Premiership title last season as is the norm while Shelbourne upset the odds when they won the League of Ireland Premier Division under the tutelage of Duff, who previously served as a coach at Celtic Park. The tie has huge financial implications for the team with the winner guaranteed at least two more Champions League qualifying matches – one of which at home. It comes 20 years after the teams met in the inaugural all-Ireland Setanta Cup final, with Linfield triumphant at Tolka Park. ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Victoria Beckham 'disgusted' by son Brooklyn for ruining David's big moment

The reported feud between Brooklyn Beckham and his mum and dad continues to rumble on, with Victoria said to be 'disgusted' by her son's latest actions Sir David Beckham has had many great achievements over the years, However, his most recent life update is likely to top them all after the news was announced last week that he is to receive a Knighthood from King Charles. The 50-year-old footballing icon is being recognised in the King's Birthday Honours List for his services to Sport and Charity, a title he's been longing for for many years. Speaking out about the incredible recognition, Sir David said he was "humbled" in a statement shared with the Mirror. ‌ He said: "I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family." ‌ However, the happy news has been bittersweet for David and his wife, who will now be known as Lady Victoria Beckham. The announcement came amid a reported fallout with eldest son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham, 30. A number of issues have reportedly been causing a rift between Brooklyn and his parents, and that's only been added to after he appeared to snub his dad's huge achievement on social media like the rest of the Beckham clan, as well as failing to celebrate his dad on Father's Day. Later this year, David will be officially honoured at Buckingham Palace. But the special day he has dreamed of for so many years will be tinged with sadness as Brooklyn and Nicola are not set to attend, according to reports. While David will be supported by Victoria, 51, sons Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 13, it's reported Brooklyn is likely to skip his dad's biggest career milestone yet. A source told Heat Magazine: "Sadly there's no question of Brooklyn being involved. The whole family is disgusted with him. It's left a very dark cloud over everyone at the worst possible time. Barring some sort of miracle, there's no way that Brooklyn is going to show up." ‌ All of David's children apart from Brooklyn honoured and celebrated his incredible achievement on social media, but the aspiring chef didn't publicly acknowledge his dad's dreams of a knighthood finally coming true. Brooklyn's behaviour has reportedly rubbed his mum Victoria up the wrong way and she has been left 'furious' by his actions or the lack of. "The whole family is devastated by the current situation. The tension had been there for a while but no-one thought in a million years that it would turn this toxic. Victoria can't fathom why Brooklyn hasn't been in touch to apologise. She's furious with him, but also heartbroken," the insider added. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today.
