Today is a tremendous day for the no-longer-so-niche community fastidiously following the NBA and specialty coffee. Golden State Warriors' Jimmy Butler III will finally bring his Supreme-esque coffee brand BIGFACE to the Bay Area. He'll begin his work here with a two-week pop-up at digital payment company Square's temporary Corner Store takeover of the former Lucca Ravioli space on 22nd and Valencia streets. The residency will run Thursday, July 10, through Sunday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m..
'San Francisco's coffee culture is legendary, making the city an ideal fit for BIGFACE,' Butler wrote in the company's press release. 'Coffee brings people from all different backgrounds together, so partnering with Square to bring BIGFACE to the Mission is the perfect way to connect more deeply with the Bay Area and show love to a community that's embraced me.'

The menu will include espresso drinks, cold brew, pour-over, and bags of the hard-to-find coffee, and exclusive merch will be available to purchase. BIGFACE infusions for the drinks include vanilla, salted caramel, and strawberry. This installation space, a joint operation between Square and nonprofit SF New Deal, has seen events with local chefs and food professionals including Dolores Deluxe owner Ramzi Budayr and small business advocate Vas Kiniris.
This six-time NBA All-Star's coffee is absolutely no celebrity slapdash rip-off. Beginning during the 2020 NBA Bubble in Florida, Butler, his fellow players discovered, simply loved coffee — a lot. His social media exploits got him linked with Arkansas-based Onyx Coffee Lab, a specialty coffee font of wisdom. Now Onyx sources, roasts, and distributes his coffees. The only permanent spaces for BIGFACE in Miami and San Diego sell coffee flights for $100. The pop-up marks Butler's first foray into bringing his coffee to San Francisco, where he's been a player since February 2025.

Golden State Warriors Jimmy Butler teams up with Jackie Chan during China trip

Jimmy Butler is currently in China, where he's promoting his partnership with the brand Li-Ning. Butler has been posting multiple videos and images from his trip to his personal Instagram page, and the Golden State Warriors' social media team hasn't been shy about amplifying some of those posts for fans to see. One of Butler's most recent uploads has been from a meeting with Hollywood martial arts legend Jackie Chan, where the Kung Fu master helped the combative Warriors forward work on, and hone, some of his martial arts skills. While we don't know what they worked on, or what was said, it's easy to guess that the conversation was lightly humorous given the comedic nature of both involved. Butler has likely been fitting in some offseason basketball work during his trip, too. The veteran forward has always been committed to bettering himself during the summer and will undoubtedly return to the United States ready to make a big impact for Steve Kerr's rotation. Butler joined the Warriors midway through the 2024-25 NBA season. He played in 30 regular-season games for the franchise, averaging 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game, shooting 52.6% from two-point range. As things currently stand, Butler will be walking into a room full of familiar faces once the Warriors' training camp is underway. The Warriors are currently the only team in the league not to add at least one new face this summer. Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Joe Lacob will undoubtedly hope for changes in the coming months. SoCal store boasting Labubu inventory ransacked by thieves

The frenzy for Labubus seems to have reached the point of burglary. A store in La Puente that has been boasting its stock of the adorable monsters and other merchandise was broken into on Wednesday morning, according to social media posts. The viral sensation known as Labubus may look like a child's toy, but they are highly sought after by adults and, apparently, thieves. One Stop Sales shared video footage on their Instagram page of the burglars breaking into the store on Glendora Avenue around 1:30 a.m. The masked thieves can be seen carrying away several boxes. The store shared surveillance footage of a white Toyota Tacoma believed to be involved in the burglary. 'Today we got robbed, and they took all of our inventory trashed our store,' the store owners said in an Instagram post. 'We are still in shock.' It's unclear how many Labubu boxes the thieves made off with, but the store had been promoting its inventory on social media in the days ahead of the break-in. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment. One Stop Sales, which opened in May, sells plush animals and other items in 'blind boxes,' which are sealed items that include collectible pendants or figurines that can be stylized as fashion accessories. The storefront boasts Labubus, which are exclusively sold by the Chinese-based store Pop Mart. The store also sells clothing and other items for collectors to style their Labubu pendants. Last year, K-pop superstar Lisa posted a video on Instagram of her hugging a large Labubu plush doll. The doll boasted accessories, including a handbag and pendants. A single Labubu character retails for $28 and often quickly sell out when made available online. But Labubus can sell for double or triple their price on the secondhand market due to their popularity. NBC reports that a life-size Labubu sold for $170,000 at a Beijing auction in June.

Europe to Escape New Trump Pharmaceutical Tariffs

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The trade deal struck between the U.S. and the European Union will allow the EU to escape the latest tariffs President Donald Trump has threatened to place on pharmaceuticals, Newsweek understands. On Tuesday, Trump said he was planning to place a "small tariff" on drug imports that will eventually grow to 250 percent. But thanks to the pact agreed in late July, the EU will see its pharmaceuticals hit with only a 15-percent tariff, far below the rates other countries may encounter. Why It Matters This aligns with the terms of the deal published by the White House, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's assurance that pharmaceuticals were among the sectors for which the 15 percent rate represented a firm "ceiling." However, Trump's comments on new pharmaceutical tariffs sparked uncertainty over whether these would apply on top of agreed rates, triggering the share prices of many European drug companies to plummet. What To Know During an interview with CNBC on Tuesday, Trump said he was planning to impose new sectoral duties on pharmaceuticals, like the tariffs already placed on steel, aluminum and auto imports. "On pharmaceuticals, we'll be putting a initially small tariff on pharmaceuticals," Trump said. "But in one year, one and a half years maximum, it's going to go to 150 percent, and then it's going to go to 250 percent, because we want pharmaceuticals made in our country." The president went on to say that he would be announcing specifics "within a week or so," and that this new tariff would be separate from country-specific duties. Alex Brandon/AP Photo The statement rocked drug companies worldwide, including those in the EU. Shares in Denmark-based Novo Nordisk fell more than 5 percent over the course of Wednesday's trades, with those in Germany-based Bayer AG dropping by nearly 10 percent. According to The Guardian, the Europe's Stoxx Health Care index, which tracks the performance of major health care sector firms across Europe, dropped to its lowest level since mid-April. EU exports of medicinal and pharmaceutical products to the U.S. totaled over $100 billion for the first time in 2024, according to Eurostat, equating to 38 percent of its total exports in this area. What People Are Saying White House deputy press secretary Kush Desai previously told Newsweek: "President Donald Trump is committed to safeguarding our national and economic security, and that includes ensuring that Americans are never again left in the lurch as they were during the COVID era when shortages of imported drugs and other lifesaving medical equipment put lives at risk." The White House, in a fact sheet published following the EU trade deal, said: "As part of President Donald Trump's strategy to establish balanced trade, the European Union will pay the United States a tariff rate of 15%, including on autos and auto parts, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors. However, the sectoral tariffs on steel, aluminum, and copper will remain unchanged—the EU will continue to pay 50% and the parties will discuss securing supply chains for these products." What Happens Next? While the U.S. has officially handed the bloc a 15 percent tariff on most of its imports as of Thursday, certain disagreements remain over the terms of the EU trade deal. Some member nations have framed this as an informal understanding rather than a finalized pact. "This is not the end of the story, the negotiation has to continue," French President Emmanuel Macron told his ministers shortly after the deal was signed, according to Euractiv. Meanwhile, Trump told CNBC that if the EU fails to follow through on the investment commitments outlined in the deal, then he will hike their tariff rates to 35 percent. Regarding the 250-percent tariff on pharmaceuticals, White House deputy press secretary Kush Desai told Newsweek that no decisions should be considered final "until officially announced by President Donald Trump."
