Centre Supports Over 18.84 Lakh EVs Under FAME Schemes: Minister
The FAME schemes were applicable all across the country, including tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The FAME-I Scheme duration was 2015-2019 and the duration of FAME-II scheme was 2019-2024. Under the FAME-I scheme, 2,55,305 EVs were supported by the government, the minister informed. Under FAME-I, approximately 520 charging stations/infrastructure were sanctioned with an amount of Rs 43 crore.
The key objectives of FAME-II scheme are to encourage adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles by the way of market creation, demand aggregation and other related activities; promote domestic technology for development of electric vehicles and its components ecosystem and promote manufacturing of Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) and hybrid vehicles within the country by the way of supporting manufacturing ecosystem.
It also helps in creating strong, globally competitive, viable and self-sustaining xEV industry and contributing to country's efforts for low emission intensive economy as agreed in COP 21, the minister said.
The National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020 is a National Mission document providing the vision and the roadmap for the faster adoption of electric vehicles and their manufacturing in the country.
As part of the NEMMP 2020, the Ministry of Heavy Industries formulated the FAME India scheme in 2015 to promote adoption of electric/ hybrid vehicles (xEVs) in India.

B'deshi armed group under scanner of Mizoram Police
1 2 3 4 Aizawl: Senior police officials in Mizoram are reportedly taking a serious view of the alleged illegal activities of the Parbottya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), a Bangladeshi armed group led by Jyotirindra Bodhipriyo Larma alias Santu Larma, in both Mizoram and Tripura. A senior police official said appropriate action will be taken against the Bangladesh-based Chakma outfit if its cadres are found venturing into Mizoram and indulging in illegal activities, as they have reportedly done in the past. Hundreds of people, both tribals and non-tribals, on Wednesday protested at Nutan Bazaar in South Tripura, submitting a memorandum to their CM Manik Saha, demanding expulsion of members of the Bangladeshi armed group from India. According to the memorandum, the PCJSS (Santu faction) has been accused of spoiling the lives of youths in the northeast through drug trafficking, using India as a shelter after committing murders in Bangladesh, and also carrying out anti-India activities from Bangladesh. This includes the alleged formation of the Tripura United National Front (TUNF) and sheltering them in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHTs) of Bangladesh. In India, members of the PCJSS (Santu) group are allegedly involved in trafficking of arms, drugs (including Yaba tablets), Burmese cigarettes and cows, which protestors claim is "destroying the youths of Tripura and Mizoram." The memorandum detailed recent seizures linked to the outfit's activities. Last year on Dec 30, Tripura Police reportedly seized 2,720 Burmese cigarette packets worth Rs 9 lakh from Raishyabari in Dhalai district. Recently, on June 19, the Assam Rifles reportedly seized drugs worth Rs 10 crore from Lunglei town in Mizoram. Furthermore, on Feb 12, Mizoram Police reportedly confiscated a significant cache of weapons. On June 4, Tripura Police arrested 13 cadres of the group and subsequently deported them to Bangladesh. The protestors alleged that the PCJSS (Santu) has evolved into a "transnational trafficking gang."

Naidu to launch 'Annadata Sukhibhava' on Aug 2; Over 46 lakh farmers to benefit
Vijayawada: The state government is making all arrangements to launch 'Annadata Sukhibhava', a scheme aimed at providing cash incentives to farmers, on August 2, alongside the PM-Kisan scheme. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the scheme at Veerayapalem village under Darsi mandal of Prakasam district. As many as 46.85 lakh farmers will benefit from the scheme. While the state government is providing Rs 5,000 to each farmer in the first tranche, the Union government will disburse ₹2,000. In total, Annadata Sukhibhava aims to transfer Rs 20,000 to farmers in three instalments, inclusive of PM-Kisan benefits. During a review meeting held on Thursday with senior officials from the finance, revenue, water resources, and agriculture departments, the chief minister directed officials to ensure that every eligible farmer receives the financial support directly into their bank accounts. "For the NDA government, supporting farmers is not a burden but a responsibility," Naidu stated. "We are rebuilding every system and working towards financial stability. The good work done should be effectively communicated to the public," he added, suggesting the use of the 'Mana Mitra' app for outreach. The state government has synchronised its disbursement with the Union government's payment to ensure that farmers can immediately use the funds for agricultural purposes. The state will provide Rs 5,000 each in the first and second instalments, and Rs 4,000 in the third, while the Union government will give Rs 2,000 in each phase. In the first phase alone, the Union government is spending Rs 831 crore, while the state is disbursing Rs 2,343 crore. Meanwhile, officials informed the chief minister that 59,750 grievances related to the scheme had been registered, of which 58,464 have already been resolved. IFB Agro to acquire Cargill India's shrimp and fish feed biz
Kolkata: City-based IFB Agro Industries has signed a business transfer agreement with Cargill India Private Limited for the acquisition of its entire commercial compound shrimp feed and freshwater fish feed business undertaking in India. IFB Agro has informed stock exchanges that the acquisition cost was Rs 110 crore. The acquisition includes the transfer of feed formulations, assets, contracts, business undertaking liabilities, licenses and permissions, data and records, employees, etc. The acquisition also covers manufacturing facilities at the Vijayawada and Rajahmundry units in Andhra Pradesh. Cargill India is a subsidiary of the US multinational Cargill.
