Sammy Guevara Isn't Bothered By Criticism Over AEW's ‘Four Pillars' Debate
Guevara, MJF, Darby Allin and Jack Perry were given the collective name of the 'Four Pillars Of AEW.' This was an homage to All-Japan Pro-Wrestling's 'Four Pillars of Heaven,' but it also designated them as AEW's foundation (and future).

Fans have debated who should and should not be on that list, and some have suggested that Britt Baker should be called the 'fifth pillar.' During a televised promo, CM Punk even suggested that Baker should replace MJF. The overall argument resulted in a healthy discourse, but it also drifted into tribalistic territory at some points.
No matter who you feel should be on the list, Guevara says it's an honor to be included. He also says replacing a name on the list doesn't take away from the original four's accomplishments.
'It's almost like the Mount Rushmore [debate]. People have their own opinions of who we'd want to be. I didn't come up with this thing. I just feel like the four guys that were mentioned for it were the original four young guys, especially during the pandemic, we really busted our ass in front of nobody. [We were] just trying to help this place grow. And I understand there's new faces now and all these new things. And that's okay if people feel like, 'Hey, these are our pillars now. Whatever.' It's like that's cool. It doesn't take away from what us four have done in the past.'
Sammy Guevara doesn't let criticism get to him as much now
Despite seeing the honor as a positive overall, Guevara admits that he used to let criticism bother him too much. He credits becoming a father as a way to ignore negativity and just focuses on himself and his family now.

'It used to bother me a lot, what people would say. Because I felt like I was always looking for outside validation. Ultimately, I just needed to find validation with myself. I feel like I found that. And a lot of people's comments, it's water off the back, it doesn't stick. I felt like maybe becoming a dad helped with that. 'Yeah, so and so is saying this.' Or, 'This person said this.' It's like, 'Man, who cares?' I have a daughter I can go and hang out with. And we can go to the park and have fun. [That's] kept me focused on what's really important in life.'
Guevara is focused on what he can control. He can't control his storyline bookings or people's opinions, but he's focused on what he can do himself in the moment.
'In the beginning, I felt like I needed everybody to feel like I belonged, because I didn't feel like I belonged. But today,' Guevara added, 'I know where I belong. And as long as I know that, that's what's important.'

Sony Lifts Outlook on Entertainment Demand Despite Tariff Threat
Sony Group Corp. raised its earnings forecast on Thursday after a strong showing from its entertainment divisions that outweighed the threat of new US tariffs on chips. The Tokyo company now expects operating profit for the year ending March to be ¥1.33 trillion ($9 billion), versus the average of analyst estimates of ¥1.39 trillion. Back in May, in the midst of uncertainty around Washington's new import tax regime, Sony had warned its profit would take a ¥100 billion hit and set its forecast at ¥1.28 trillion. It said it now sees a tariff impact of around ¥70 billion on its operating income.

NEON Picks Up Movie Based on Surreal Japanese Horror Game
NEON Picks Up Movie Based on Surreal Japanese Horror Game originally appeared on GameDaily. The Exit 8 might not be a game that's widely known to gaming fans, but it is beloved by gamers who have played it. It's from Japanese development Kotake Create and is essentially a walking simulator about being trapped in an underground passageway and trying to figure out how to escape by observing your surroundings. The game is very surreal and features elements of horror. This led to Genki Kawamura directing a feature film version of the game. The film is set to release in Japan on August 29. Luckily, American fans will eventually get a chance to see the film. NEON, the studio behind Parasite and Longlegs, has acquired the North American distribution rights for Exit 8. There isn't a set release date for the film in North America, but it is said to be coming out early next year. NEON has a fantastic track record when it comes to horror movies, so Exit 8 might be one of the better video game adaptations to come out. Exit 8 may not have been one of the games that translated well to film, but the fact that NEON is involved bodes well for the movie's quality. Here's hoping it can be better than the disappointing Until Dawn movie we got this year. This story was originally reported by GameDaily on Aug 6, 2025, where it first appeared.
