Heerenveen Eredivisie 2025/2026 Preview
After taking over midway through the campaign after Robin van Persie left for Feyenoord, Robin Veldman now has a full preseason with the Heerenveen squad. Veldman won four and lost four of his games in charge, with the side ending up in ninth. The side were easily handled by AZ in the playoffs, but another return to the post season would be welcomed.

Key player: Jakob Trenskow
Trenskow had a strong first season in the Eredivisie with Heervenveen. The 24-year-old Danish winger grabbed seven goals and three assists, finishing as the sides second leading goal scorer behind Nicolaescu. With the latter now departed, Trenskow will need to contribute both goals and assists for Heerenveen this season.
Young player to watch: Nikolai Hopland
Another Scandanavian talent, this time for Norway, Hopland had a decent first season in the Eredivisie. In 33 games for Heerenveen he scored twice from central defence. Veldman will hope that he can continue to progress and prove a foundational piece for his defence, one that conceded 57 goals in 34 games last season, the worst in the top 10.
Transfer window needs:
If Dylan Vente can fire like he did for PEC Zwolle last season, Heervenveen will have found their replacement for Moldovan forward Nicolaescu. If not, they could be struggling for goals upfront. The side have already been active, so like most other Eredivisie sides, they need the new players to settle quickly and have an impact.

The New York Giants are getting some star power back in action this week. The team announced via social media Tuesday that offensive tackle Andrew Thomas had passed his physical and would return to practice. In addition, the G-Men will also see second-year wide receiver Malik Nabers (back) and rookie running back Cam Skattebo (hamstring) return to the practice field Tuesday. It's big news for a Giants squad that has managed to go 2-0 in preseason games without any of the three available. Thomas and Nabers are both starters and two of the team's biggest stars on offense. Daboll said Tuesday that Skattebo would be returning to practice this week, which, like Nabers, opens the door for him to make his 2025 preseason debut later this week. If and when Skattebo takes the field on Thursday night, it will also be his professional debut for the Giants after New York nabbed him with a fourth-round pick in April. 6 Chiefs won't practice on Tuesday; Steve Spagnuolo weighs in
Ahead of their practice at their home facility at the Truman Sports Complex on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs listed six players who would not take the field due to injury or illness: linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee bruise), offensive lineman Ethan Driskell (appendectomy), safety Mike Edwards (hamstring), cornerback Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder), defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (ankle) and wide receiver Jalen Royals (knee). Late Monday afternoon, Kansas City placed defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah on the Reserve/Injured list. Even though he is practicing, cornerback Kristian Fulton has yet to play in a preseason game as he recovers from offseason knee surgery. 'Well, the unknown is Kristian right now because we haven't had him out there,' said defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. 'Jaylen [Watson] has missed some time, and now we've got [Johnson], who is a little dinged up. So with a couple of different moving pieces, there's a little bit of concern there, so hopefully we can start to gel that together.'
