With a new situation under center, the New York Giants hope to bring stability to their passing game. It could do wonders for the emerging superstar, Malik Nabers.
The Daniel Jones era ended on a tough note. After 10 games of struggling, the former Duke star was benched before ultimately parting ways with the Giants' organization.
The Giants had four quarterbacks under center at one point throughout the 2024 season. Drew Lock attempted 181 passes over eight games. Tommy DeVito threw 44 passes in three games, while Tim Boyle attempted 24 passes.
Nabers proved his stardom by producing in any scenario. As a rookie, the first-rounder managed to put together a Pro Bowl campaign after three seasons at LSU. Heading into year two, the Giants have added a notable veteran quarterback in Russell Wilson to help with the continued development of the wideout.
So far, Nabers and Wilson haven't had a chance to put it together at OTAs. As Wilson gets to work with his new weapons in New York, Nabers has been a non-participant due to health reasons.
According to Giants.com, Nabers is currently recovering from a toe injury. The Giants aren't operating with the belief that Nabers' setback is severe. The team is simply being cautious at this time.

"Of course, it would be great if Nabers was out here catching passes from Wilson during OTAs. But the most important thing for the 21-year-old is to get fully healthy for the start of the season," writes Giants analyst Matt Citak. "I cannot imagine it will take long for Wilson and Nabers to build a connection of their own, and once they do, the sky is the limit for the star wideout. For right now, though, the veteran quarterback's growing chemistry with the other targets has been on full display these last couple of weeks."
Throughout the 2024 NFL season, Nabers appeared in 15 games. He caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. The closest receiver on the team in terms of production was Wan'Dale Robinson, who caught 93 passes for 699 yards and three scores.
While Nabers' absence still provides a hint of concern simply due to the fact that he's a cornerstone player, there are slight positives in his absence. Wilson now gets an opportunity to find comfort with other weapons on the depth chart, figuring out his other options beyond Nabers, who will undoubtedly garner a high volume of targets throughout the 2025 NFL season.
Last week, Robinson sent a lot of praise Wilson's way after catching passes from the veteran quarterback throughout the early phase of spring practices. A lot of buzz has been built around the veteran Jalin Hyatt, as he's been dubbed a potential breakout candidate for the upcoming season.
The Giants haven't offered a timeline on Nabers, but the assumption is that there isn't much to worry about.

Steelers QB Skylar Thompson Has ‘Overlooked' Chip on Shoulder
PITTSBURGH — Skylar Thompson isn't Aaron Rodgers. He's not Mason Rudolph or Will Howard, either. The Pittsburgh Steelers' most inconspicuous quarterback is used to being glanced over. His current situation isn't any different. 'In the most humble way possible, I feel like I've been overlooked my whole life a little bit,' Thompson said after Wednesday's OTA practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. 'I've never really have had anything given to me, so it's not really a new situation. It's not new to me. But, I try to carry that chip on my shoulder.' Advertisement Thompson spent the first three years of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins, playing in 10 regular-season games and starting three. He completed 58.7% of his passes for 721 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions. Most notably, Thompson started Miami's 34-31 Wild Card playoff loss to Buffalo in January 2023. He went 18 for 45 for 220 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions in that clash. He brings that experience to Pittsburgh, and he isn't resigning himself to holding a clipboard. Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson warms up before the start of an NFL football game against the New York Jets, Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, in Miami Gardens, Fla. (AP Photo/Wilfredo Lee) 'I full-heartedly believe in myself,' Thompson said. 'I think that's what's been special about this offseason is, like I said, I went through some adversity last year and got challenged. I just used it to better myself this offseason and tried to have the best offseason that I've had so far in the league, and I really believe that was the case.' Advertisement Thompson said the Steelers' offense is the 'same tree, there's definitely some carryover in formations, concepts' as the Dolphins'. He feels the system 'allows the quarterback to play quarterback' and provides some pre-snap cues as to what the defense is showing. 'I'm taking every day as an opportunity to showcase what I can do,' Thompson said. 'Just be a great teammate, be a great leader, and find ways to help this team be successful and win. At the end of the day, that's all I care about is winning. … Things seem to work out one way or another when you put your best into something and that's just what I've been focused on doing.' NFL analyst outlines unlikely scenario where Bill Belichick lands with Giants
NFL analyst outlines unlikely scenario where Bill Belichick lands with Giants There was a time when the New York Giants would have considered finally hiring Bill Belichick to be their head coach. Many close to the team don't ever see this coming to fruition, although crazier things have happened. That hasn't precluded figures in the national football media from continuing to connect Belichick to the Giants, where he won two Super Bowls as Bill Parcells' defensive coordinator nearly four decades ago. Belichick is set to coach the University of North Carolina Tar Heels this season, but the gig could end up being short-lived for several reasons. That would put a 74-year-old Belichick back on the NFL coaching carousel next spring, a ride that has not been kind to him since he left the New England Patriots after the 2023 season. From Joel Klatt of FOX Sports: Let's be honest, Belichick isn't going to feel a lot of pressure at UNC. If this doesn't go his way, he's not going to lose a lot of sleep over this. Rather, the pressure is on the fan base. You can tell that the fan base is invested in this in a way that's similar to Colorado and Deion Sanders. They hired possibly the best coach in NFL history, so maybe they're just happy he's in Chapel Hill. That's why the pressure doesn't ratchet up in UNC's schedule. It ratchets in the New York Giants' schedule, or another NFL team that could be a potential suitor for Belichick. Belichick can certainly pay the $1 million to get out of his contract, and if he has the opportunity to coach the Giants (who he has a history with) or another NFL team, he could opt to go that route. So, I think the pressure point date here is Dec. 1, when the Giants take on the New England Patriots right before their bye week. If New York is 2-11 entering that game and loses, do you think Brian Daboll is getting fired right after? I think he could. That's also right when the college football regular season ends. The Giants wouldn't be able to name their next head coach right after, but Belichick could have an inkling on whether he could become their next head coach around that date. That's a bit of a dot-connecting exercise by Klatt. He could end up being closer than we think, though. The Giants are up against the NFL's toughest schedule, but they are better this year, too, so that could be a wash. With more experience at quarterback and more depth overall up and down their roster, the Giants could be closer to a .500 team in 2024. That won't prompt a change in the coaching ranks, but if it does, Belichick isn't likely to be on the top of their shortlist for the job.

Tennessee Titans have two of NFL's worst contracts entering 2025
Tennessee Titans have two of NFL's worst contracts entering 2025 The Tennessee Titans had an aggressive offseason knowing they needed to build around whichever player they selected with the No. 1 overall pick. That player wound up being quarterback Cam Ward out of Miami, a move that has given some new hope to a franchise that hasn't reached the playoffs in three consecutive seasons. However, the offseason also included some questionable moves. With Mike Borgonzi taking over as the general manager for the first time in his career. When looking at the worst contracts across the NFL, the Titans were featured twice on the list from Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, with his four-year, $76.4 million deal, came in at No. 9 on the list. It's easy to understand the rationale behind the Tennessee Titans' 2024 trade to acquire cornerback L'Jairus Sneed. Good cornerbacks are hard to find, and Sneed had excelled in Steve Spagnuolo's defense with the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, it was odd to see Tennessee immediately give a 27-year-old corner who had never been to a Pro Bowl a deal worth $19.1 million annually—which has him as the league's 11th-highest-paid cornerback a year later. Borgonzi inherited that contract, so it's difficult to hold that deal against him. However, coming in at No. 3 on the list was arguably the biggest move Borgonzi made during free agency: signing Dan Moore Jr. to a four-year, $82 million deal. The Titans entered free agency knowing that they were likely to use the No. 1 overall pick on Miami quarterback Cam Ward. Therefore, aggressively addressing the offensive line was logical. However, there isn't a world in which Moore should be the league's 10th-highest-paid tackle in terms of annual salary, which he currently is. Fortunately for the Titans, they have a quarterback on a rookie contract so they can afford to overpay right now for some lesser-tiered players. With that said, there's a good chance these deals will become even more of a talking point in the future.
