Remove Ads The BJP government in Chhattisgarh is set to relaunch the erstwhile Congress government's flagship 'Gothan' scheme under a new name - 'Gaudham'. The state finance department has approved a draft of the scheme and sent it to district collectors across the state, said erstwhile Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government had launched the scheme under which it started buying cow dung from farmers through more than 10,000 Gothan centres. However, after BJP came to power, the purchase of cow dung was stopped. With increasing accidents involving stray cattle on the roads and highways, state government has now prepared a revamped plan under the scheme. Just last week, more than 90 cows died in three separate Gaudham centres under the renamed scheme will be used to keep the stray cattle from roaming on the streets. The government will not buy cow dung and instead provide monetary support to cattle grazers. It will provide a monthly honorarium to cattle grazers and a daily fodder budget for the cattle at the centres. The cattle grazers will receive ₹10,916 each per month while for every animal the initial budget has been kept as ₹10 per day. In the first phase, Gaudham centres will be set up in rural areas alongside the National Highway (NH)-6 .

Atishi writes to CM over water crisis in Kalkaji after reservoir submergence

New Delhi: Leader of the opposition in Delhi Assembly, Atishi , wrote a letter to chief minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday, saying parts of Kalkaji, her constituency, faced a water crisis due to submergence of the Giri Nagar underground reservoir pumping station after the overnight rain. She charged the BJP-led govt with "stalling and collapsing" within just six months and its failure to protect critical infrastructure and manage monsoon-related challenges. No reaction was available from the CM office or the BJP. Atishi alleged that the situation turned critical when the Giri Nagar UGR pumping station, which supplies water to Kalkaji, Giri Nagar, Govindpuri and Govindpuri Extension, was fully submerged. "The pumps stopped functioning, resulting in a complete halt to water supply in these areas," Atishi said, adding that the residents were facing at least 2–3 days of severe water shortage, with no alternate arrangements You Can Also Check: Delhi AQI | Weather in Delhi | Bank Holidays in Delhi | Public Holidays in Delhi "I urge you to give urgent directions to your PWD and water minister Parvesh Verma to take immediate steps to restore water supply in the area. Otherwise, I, along with the residents of the area, will be forced to take to the streets for a solution," Atishi said. tnn Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
