
UPSC CSE Prelims 2025 Exam Day Instructions: What to carry, reporting time
UPSC Prelims Exam Day Instructions and Dress Code 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on May 25 will conduct the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025. The UPSC CSE prelims exam will be held in two shifts — first from 9.30 am and the next from 2.30 pm.
The entry to the exam centre will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the exam. UPSC aspirants will have to carry the hard copies of the CSE prelims admit cards and a black ballpoint pen.
The commission issued admit cards in this regard on May 13 on its official website at upsc.gov.in. Those appearing for the exam are advised to download their admit cards well in advance.
Answers other than those marked by a black ball point pen will not be evaluated. A candidate, whose photograph on the UPSC CSE prelims admit card is not clear or the photograph is without the name and date of photograph, will have to bring a photo identity card alongwith two passport size photographs with his/her name and date of photograph, one for each session for appearing in the examination with an undertaking.
Candidates appearing for UPSC CSE (Prelims) must carry the following documents to the examination hall:
– Printout of the e-admit card: Candidates must carry the printout to the allotted venue for appearing the examination. A candidate who does not carry the e-admit card for checking at the allotted venue, will not be allowed to take the exam.
– Photo ID card: Candidates are required to carry along their Photo ID card, bearing the number mentioned in the admit card, to appear at each session of the examination.
– Photograph: A candidate, whose photograph on their e-admit card is not clear or the photograph is without their name and date of photograph, will have to bring two passport size photographs (with name and date of photograph) for each session of the examination, alongside Photo ID.
In case of any discrepancy in the details of the student (name, photograph, QR code, etc.) in the admit card, the same must be communicated to the Commission immediately by email- uscsp-upsc@nic.in.
– Any bag, baggage, luggage
– Any valuables/ costly items
– Any mobile phones (even in switch off mode), smart/ digital watches, other IT gadgets
– Watch fitted with any special accessory
– Books etc
Candidates are advised not to bring any banned items as the venue supervisor will not make any arrangement for keeping these items at the venue. In case, a candidate brings any such banned items, he/she will make his/her own arrangement for keeping the same outside the Venue and the Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.

– Copies of self-photographs
– Normal or simple wrist watch
Violation of any instruction shall entail disciplinary action which may include cancellation of candidature of candidate, filing of FIR/police complaint against the candidate, prohibition from appearing in subsequent session(s)/day(s) of the examination. In addition, the Commission may take any other appropriate action as per provisions contained in the examination rules.
