Ecosense Supports Breath of Hope Ohio Gala to Advance Lung Cancer Research

Associated Press13 hours ago

San Jose, CA - June 5, 2025 - The 2025 Breath of Hope Ohio Gala received continued annual support from Ecosense, the leading innovator in radon detection technology, on Saturday, May 17, 2025. The annual event generated $175,000 for The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) to fund the development of innovative lung cancer research.
Ecosense donated its award-winning smart radon monitoring devices to the silent auction at the event as part of its dedication to community health. The donations from Ecosense supported Breath of Hope Ohio, which operates under the OSUCCC – James, to provide hope and support to lung cancer patients and fund research for lung cancer cures.
Ecosense feels privileged to support the Breath of Hope Ohio Gala, according to Insoo Park, who serves as both Founder and CEO of the company.
'Here at Ecosense, we are dedicated to using scientific innovation to create healthier environments. Our organization supports radon detection as an essential tool for lung cancer prevention because it enables early diagnosis. We are proud to align with the Gala's powerful message: 'If you have lungs, you're at risk.' Of course, individuals who smoke face higher risks, but those who don't smoke must also be aware of other environmental factors, like radon gas, which is a leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.'
The naturally occurring radioactive radon gas is the second primary lung cancer risk factor. The radon detection technology from Ecosense provides instant, accurate monitoring solutions that are both simple to operate and deliver reliable results to consumers and professionals. The Ohio State University Foundation manages all donations to the Breath of Hope Ohio program so that every dollar supports meaningful cancer research.
Ecosense joins a developing network of organizations that work together to improve lung cancer results through awareness initiatives and innovative solutions, and direct action. About Breath of Hope Ohio
Breath of Hope Ohio is dedicated to raising funds to support innovative research necessary for a cure for lung cancer. Dollars raised directly support recruiting talented researchers and advancing lung cancer research at the Thoracic Oncology Department at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) for increasing awareness, driving research, finding new treatments and ultimately, a cure. The 'Breath of Hope Ohio' Gala was started by Sandy and Mark Lomeo after Mark was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2014. They were surprised to discover the lack of funding for lung cancer as compared to many other types of cancer. They decided to raise money by hosting an annual gala where researchers, caregivers, patients and professionals could come together, learn from one another and build community. Visit the Breath of Hope Ohio website https://breathofhopeohio.org/ to donate and to learn more about our mission.

Omada Health IPO signals healthier market, avoids ‘down-round' trend

The IPO market is starting to feel healthier. Omada Health, a 14-year-old company providing virtual care for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension between office visits, closed its first trading day on Friday at $23 a share, a 21% jump from the IPO price of $19. The IPO valued the company just above $1 billion (excluding employee options), a figure that's nearly identical to Omada's last private valuation of $1 billion set in its previous VC round. The debut is one of the first among recent IPOs that was not a so-called down-round. Many of the latest public listings, including Hinge, ServiceTitan, and Reddit, priced below their private market highs, though have faired well as public companies. For founder and CEO Sean Duffy, the successful public offering validates his decision to start a company that he believed the market desperately needed. In 2011, he dropped out of Harvard Medical School after realizing that chronic illness patients required more continuous support than the existing healthcare system delivered. Before the offering, he owned 4.1% of the company, according to Omada's offering document. Other significant shareholders included Revelation Partners (10.9%), US Venture Partners (9.9%), Andreessen Horowitz (9.6%), and FMR (9.3%). Duffy told TechCrunch that over his 14-year journey as a founder, he had many harrowing moments. 'I didn't think our series A was going to come together because we were working on this commercial deal that didn't materialize, and that spooked one investor,' he said. Boston, MA | REGISTER NOW 'As a young business, something tries to kill you every month,' he continued. 'And then as the business grows, it turns into like every quarter or six months, year, two years.' One of the recent challenges for many digital health businesses is navigating the 'collapse' of the market post-COVID boom. Omada navigated the turbulent times by seeking new, rising markets. It recently expanded its offerings to include diet management support for GLP-1 patients.

NASA Delays Next Flight of Boeing's Alternative to SpaceX Dragon

NASA is delaying the earliest potential next flight of Boeing Co. 's troubled Starliner spacecraft to 2026, pushing back a key milestone for a vehicle meant to serve as an alternative to the Dragon spacecraft owned by Elon Musk's SpaceX. The agency had previously said that Starliner's next flight to the International Space Station could occur as early as the end of this year. NASA said it is still evaluating whether the next flight would carry astronauts on board or only cargo.
