Woman in Hartselle charged with prescription fraud after incident at Kroger pharmacy
Jun. 6—A woman was arrested on Tuesday and charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud after she allegedly gave two prescriptions to a pharmacy in Hartselle under a different name, according to an affidavit signed by a Hartselle police lieutenant.
Dorian Jada Brazley, 28, was transported by Hartselle police to Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Jail records show her still in custody as of Wednesday morning.
According to the affidavit, at approximately 5:43 p.m. on Tuesday, a pharmacy technician at Kroger took possession of two prescriptions presented by Brazley.
"Brazley claimed the prescriptions were for her cousin, identified on the prescription forms as Jaylen T. Moore," the affidavit said.
The prescriptions were for 30 mg of Oxycodone and Lubiprostone 24 mcg capsules, which is a laxative used for chronic constipation.
The technician and pharmacist became suspicious because of the unusual formatting and presentation of the prescriptions that were inconsistent with typical prescriptions issued by this specific doctor, who the affidavit identified as a family physician in Decatur.
After calling the doctor's office, the affidavit said the pharmacist was informed the prescriptions were forgeries and they called the Hartselle police department.
"While law enforcement was en route, the suspect departed the location but returned at approximately 7:30 p.m. to inquire about picking up the prescriptions," the affidavit said.
Officers were then called again and arrived on scene to detain Brazley and transported her to the Hartselle police department to speak with investigators.

Jun. 7—A Tennessee man was arrested Thursday night after fleeing officers in a traffic stop on Interstate 65, crashing his vehicle, and attempting to escape on foot before officers apprehended him and found fentanyl in his possession, according to the Priceville Police Department. At approximately 11:50 p.m., police said they initiated a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Point Mallard Parkway and made contact with a male driver, Rothe, and a female passenger. An affidavit said police stopped the blue Nissan Altima for seat belt and failure to signal violations. As soon as officers approached the vehicle, it began to elude them in the southbound lane on I-65 and continued toward Falkville, according to police. "The suspect's vehicle exited I-65 and entered the town of Falkville, nearly colliding with two patrol vehicles belonging to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office," police said. "The suspect then altered course and continued fleeing toward the Eva area." Rothe eventually crashed his vehicle and veered off the road as he rounded a curve on Adams Road in Eva and attempted to escape on foot until deputies apprehended him in a pond where he was trying to conceal himself, according to the affidavit. Police said they found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia on Routhe and he told paramedics at the scene he had also consumed illegal narcotics. After being checked out at Decatur Morgan Hospital, he was transported to Morgan County Jail. An affidavit said there was a total of 12.3 grams of fentanyl found on Routhe and that he initially declined to identify himself. Decatur man arrested again after failing to appear on burglary charges
Jun. 5—A Decatur man was arrested Tuesday on failure to appear warrants for 2024 charges of third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools and remained in the Morgan County Jail without bail Wednesday afternoon, according to jail records. An alias warrant issued by the Morgan County Circuit Court on May 28 ordered the arrest of 61-year-old Richard Gonzalez. His bail had been revoked a day earlier for committing "one or more new crimes while released on bond," according to an order from Circuit Judge Stephen F. Brown. On Jan. 20, 2024, Gonzalez and another suspect were arrested for allegedly burglarizing a detached garage in the 100 block of Daniel Street Southwest, according to a Decatur police affidavit. Gonzalez was found inside the residence. A female victim provided police with "photos of the suspects inside the garage removing several pre-hung doors," according to Decatur police officer Thomas Kirby. "The suspects had placed six pre-hung (doors) from the garage on a small trailer that was attached to a white Ford E-350 van that was registered to Gonzalez." Gonzalez was released from the Morgan County Jail the next day on a $2,500 bond, court records show, and was scheduled to appear before a judge on March 14, 2024. The latest charges against Gonzalez stem from a May 14 arrest for possession of controlled substances. An affidavit said Decatur police investigators served a search warrant at his home on Danville Road Southwest on April 28 and found marijuana and pregabalin pills — an anticonvulsant classified as a Schedule V controlled substance under federal and state law. Gonzalez was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances, second-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
