17th Sharq Ramadan Football Championship kicks off

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Murr Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, inaugurated, on Sunday, the 17th Sharq Ramadan Football Championship, which is one of the oldest Ramadan competitions in Khorfakkan and the Eastern Region.
Distinguished attendance
The opening ceremony of the championship was attended by His Excellency Salem Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club; Engineer Abdul Rahman Al Naqbi, Director of Khorfakkan Municipality; and a crowd of officials and representatives of the departments and institutions sponsoring and supporting the tournament.
190 players
Khaled Murad, member of the championship's organising committee, explained that the 17th edition will see the participation of 12 teams and more than 190 players. The championship, sponsored by Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), will be held in a group system and will include 4 groups.
Accompanying events
Speaking exclusively to 'Sharjah 24', Murad added that the championship, which celebrates the 'Year of the Community' in its new edition, includes many accompanying events throughout its competition period, including seminars, Ramadan Majlis, cultural and heritage competitions, in addition to folkloric artistic performances.

Asian sailing chief visits Al Hamriyah club to discuss Asia event

His Excellency Hamid Al Shamsi gave Mr Shroff a tour of the club's modern sailing team headquarters, which serves as an international training centre, as well as the club's facilities including the hotel, gym, and swimming pool. The chairman expressed his gratitude to the Asian Sailing Federation president for the visit, also thanking the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, and the Sharjah Sports Council for their continuous support in advancing marine sports in the country. He affirmed that Al Hamriyah possesses all the capabilities to host the Asian Championship, citing the club's experience in organising major sports events such as the Al Hamriyah International Championship and the international modern sailing camp last season.
