Concern as Amman Valley pub set to host summer festival
However, Cllr Kevin Madge has claimed he and Ammanford Town Council were not consulted about the pub hosting the festival, which some residents are opposed to due to the potential for heavy drinking, loud noise and anti-social behaviour.

I'm not against having places for young people to go but I'm against this pub having a license to stay open until half past two in the morning.
'I've been told the pub will have 15 bouncers and that there will be 499 people in the car park. That's a lot of people. It's ridiculous. What's going to happen when they are performing outside the estate all night long with residential areas all around it?
'A lot of residents at Cwmamman Road are going to be affected. There are going to be parking problems and people are concerned about the level of disturbance. When you bring a lot of people into an area, there's always going to be problems.
'There will be music in the car park, and this will affect a lot of people. It's a residential area. Many people are going to come, and will police be able to police it properly? I am concerned about the disturbance to people who live in the surrounding area.'

He continued: 'People have also been drunk and walking through the nearby park late at night. When people have been drinking all day, they are going to cause a disturbance. I am not happy about this event happening.
'The environmental officers have said there is not enough people complaining about the pub to be denied a license. I'm getting a lot of complaints from residents, but they need to make their complaints to the authorities. People need to report it.
'The pub reopened eight to nine months ago. There's a lot of noise in the area and the police have been going back and forth.'

New cafes in Sheung Wan and Central that you should try
The pint-sized No Title doesn't have much space for seats, so they're mainly a takeaway spot but they're pet-friendly for those who do want to sit in. The proprietors Wing and Man are a young couple from Guizhou who love nostalgic Hong Kong vibes, so their cafe is full of Easter egg references, such as a goldfish tank that's a nod to Wong Kar-wai's films, a milk cake inspired by the long staircase at the end of Gough Street, and a playlist of Cantopop classics. Their coffee blend is from the Chinese person who won the world's best pour-over coffee, and No Title is the only place in Hong Kong where you can savour this. The nutty blend carries hints of dark chocolate and buttery caramel, while the fruity option has white floral notes. There are plenty of options on their sizeable list of signatures and non-coffee sips that come with their own stories, such as the Tiny Goldfish, the Moulin Rouge, and the Opacarophile (it means someone who loves sunsets, fyi). If you're not quite sure what to choose, have a chat with the baristas who can pick something based on your current mood and what you're sensing in that moment, which is a really cute touch. Apart from homemade Lamington cake, No Title also offers Guizhou sticky rice, featuring lard and soy sauce mixed rice topped with pork crackling – an interesting pairing for coffee, to be sure!

Garnant bar owner hits back at concerns over music festival
The landlord of the Wing and Prayer Sports Bar in Garnant has confirmed that the upcoming music festival will go ahead as planned, following a positive meeting with local authorities. Luke Martin, who runs the sports bar on Cwmamman Road said he was "delighted" after receiving confirmation from Carmarthenshire County Council, police, licensing officers and environmental health teams that the Garnant Music Festival has the green light to proceed from August 14 to August 17. This follows concerns from Cllr Kevin Madge and some residents of the Garnant neighbourhood expressing their worries regarding noise disruption. Cllr Madge previously expressed frustration at what he described as a lack of consultation with Cwmamman Town Council, calling the licensing arrangements "ridiculous." However, Mr Martin has reassured residents that the festival will be conducted in a "respectable manner". Mr Martin said: 'We are delighted to inform all concerned parties that, following a very successful meeting with the local authority, police, licensing officers, and environmental officers, we have officially received the green light to proceed with the music festival. 'This is a significant milestone, and we are extremely pleased with the positive outcome and the collaborative spirit shown by all involved. 'We look forward to delivering a safe, well-managed, and memorable event for everyone. Thank you for your continued support.' He added: 'We are working with a local radio station, Cwmamman mayor Gordon Jones and locals to make this event run smooth and provide a safe place for everyone to come and enjoy.' Mr Martin also raised concerns over why Cllr Madge is not backing a local community event, despite showing support to similar events in the community over the summer months. Cllr Madge, who covers Garnant on Carmarthenshire County Council, said he wasn't against young people having a place to go out, yet believed that people living in residential areas could be negatively impacted. As preparations continue, the Wing and Prayer team say they are focused on working with the community to ensure the festival is a success for both attendees and local residents.
