On June 4, governor CP Radhakrishnan signed an ordinance establishing the 'Nashik-Trimbakeshwar
Authority'. "State govt decided to form the authority for Kumbh Mela. This will expedite developmental works related to the conduct of the religious fair," stated Praveen Gedam, Nashik's divisional commissioner
Political analysts suggest this structure, with the authority reporting to the Ccmmittee of ministers, addresses the ongoing dispute over Nashik's guardian minister position and subsequent control of the Kumbh Mela committee.
"The committee's oversight will ensure local political representation in the authority's functioning," the analyst suggested. According to the ordinance, the committee will oversee the authority's operations, evaluate its performance, and examine its reports, establishing political supervision over the Kumbh Mela proceedings.
District administration officials confirmed that the authority included the Nashik collector and inspector general of police as vice-chairpersons, alongside Ahilyanagar collector, NMC chief and other officials as members. "The authority grants the Kumbh Mela commissioner direct control over designated staff, with the chairperson maintaining oversight," said the officer.

Shettar demands CM, DyCM's resignation over IPL stampede
Belagavi: MP Jagadish Shettar on Monday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, holding them morally responsible for the tragic stampede at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium during celebrations of RCB's maiden IPL title, which claimed 11 to reporters, Shettar alleged that both leaders chose to go ahead with the event against police advice for political mileage. 'They have no moral right to remain in office. Blaming others, suspending police officials, or removing the Chief Minister's political secretary does not absolve them of responsibility,' he to reports that the police had advised postponement of the celebrations, Shettar said, 'While the public was witnessing a stampede, Siddaramaiah was seen enjoying sweets with his grandson. The CM's attempt to draw a parallel is unacceptable,' he on Belagavi projectsShifting focus to developmental issues, Shettar outlined the work being done in his constituency since being elected as MP. 'Several pending central government projects have been revived, with departments now working in co-ordination. Regular review meetings are being held to expedite progress,' he said land surveys for the Belagavi-Dharwad direct railway line have been completed, and discussions regarding compensation are underway. He acknowledged the role of the former minister of state for railways Suresh Angadi, under whose tenure Rs 927 crore had been sanctioned for the infrastructure development, Shettar said obstacles to the proposed bypass and ring road in Belagavi have been cleared. 'The centre has sanctioned Rs 3,800 crore for the ring road project. However, the funds have not been utilised by the state government. We hope the work will commence soon,' he to Hebbalkar's claimResponding to Women & Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, who credited Tourism Minister H K Patil for the release of funds for the development of the Renuka Yallamma Temple at Yellammanagudda in Savadatti, Shettar clarified that Rs 18 crore was sanctioned under the Prasad scheme during the tenure of Suresh Angadi and Mangala also revealed that Rs 100 crore was recently sanctioned by the centre under the 'Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Standards' scheme. 'This was based on my letter to the Prime Minister's Office. The PMO has officially acknowledged my proposal, and I have also held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,' Shettar asserted.

He emphasized that such a tragic incident should never happen under any government and that he is personally hurt by the event, as is the government. Five police officers have been suspended, and both the intelligence chief and the Chief Minister's political secretary have been replaced in connection with the case. The government is taking the matter seriously and has already begun appropriate actions. Siddaramaiah maintained that the government did nothing wrong during the entire episode since June 4. He noted that although the incident is saddening, the administration did not make mistakes. Legal action is underway against those responsible, so the government should not feel ashamed. Responding to criticism from the opposition parties BJP and JDS, Siddaramaiah questioned whether the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh resigned when people died at the Kumbh Mela or if BJP and JDS demanded his resignation then. He also clarified that his government did not organize the player felicitation event on June 4 when the stampede happened. The Secretary and Treasurer of the KSCA invited him to the event, which was organized by them. He attended only as a guest and was informed that the Governor would also attend, but he was not involved in any other details.
