A convoy of 19 luxury supercars, including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches, is touring Himachal Pradesh for a four-day Supercar Drive to promote luxury tourism
The serene valleys and winding roads of Himachal Pradesh are echoing with the roar of some of the world's most luxurious supercars, as a convoy of 19 high-end vehicles makes its way through the region. This spectacular sight is part of the four-day Supercar Drive in Himachal, designed to promote luxury tourism in the state.
A Luxury Showcase In The Hills
Ferraris capable of reaching speeds of 314 km/h, along with Lamborghinis, Porsches, Jaguars, McLarens, Mercedes-Benzes, Audis, BMWs, and the Nissan GTR, are turning heads as they cruise through the hills; each car valued in crores of rupees, with price tags ranging from Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 10 crore.
The convoy, comprising nine cars from Mumbai and 10 from Chandigarh, converged in the picturesque town of Manali, accompanied by 24 drivers. Upon arrival at Span Resort, the group was warmly received by Manali MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur, who hailed the event as a milestone for Himachal Pradesh.
'This marks a new beginning for luxury tourism in our state," said Gaur. 'We are proud that Himachal Pradesh has been chosen for this prestigious drive. The government stands in full support of such initiatives that showcase our state's beauty to a global audience."
From A Dream To Reality
For Praveen Sood, also known as Pintu, President of the Himalayan Extreme Sports Association and the event's local coordinator, the drive was the culmination of a long-held vision. 'We have been working for years to bring an event of this scale to Himachal. This drive is proof of our stunning landscapes, rich culture, and the hospitality we offer," he said.
Following Manali, the supercars are set to traverse the Atal Tunnel, an engineering marvel, and continue on to the breathtaking Lahaul Valley. This will be the first time such elite sports cars have navigated these challenging mountain routes, further underlining the adventurous spirit behind the event.
Himachal Supercar Run 2025: A New Chapter
Dubbed the Himachal Supercar Run 2025, the event marks a significant moment for the state's tourism sector. By attracting affluent travellers in search of extraordinary experiences, the initiative positions Himachal Pradesh as a unique destination where luxury and adventure coexist at the heart of the Himalayas.

Court orders insurance company to pay Rs 2 lakh to Ghaziabad woman after it rejected her stolen car claim 10 years ago

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed National Insurance Company Limited to pay 75% of the insured value, Rs 2 lakh, to an Indirapuram woman after her car, bought for rental income, was stolen in 2015. The commission also asked the company to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation for mental agony and litigation costs within 45 days, failing which interest at 6% on the total due amount will be charged, a TOI report stated. Claim for stolen car Meena Devi filed her complaint on April 18, 2017, stating that she had purchased an insurance policy from National Insurance on December 2, 2014, to cover loss and damage to her car, valid for one year. She said, "The car met with an accident on Jan 13, 2015, and I claimed reimbursement for the repair. The claim was honoured by the company, and Rs 95,000 were reimbursed, but the company officials made me sign some blank documents and stamp paper under the pretext of record-keeping. Later, when my car was stolen on Oct 21, 2015, the insurance company refused to make any payment saying the policy was closed." "The undertaking was vetted by the notary, so it is wrong to say that we took blank documents from the policyholder and used them as per our choice," the counsel added. The commission, led by president Praveen Kumar Jain and members Shailja Sachan and RP Singh, noted a discrepancy in dates. The undertaking was signed on January 21, 2015, while the stamp paper on record was purchased on January 24, 2015. "It is hard to believe that the policyholder applied for cancellation of the policy," the commission observed.

Almost 2 crore passengers travel on MSRTC buses over Raksha Bandhan weekend

The long Raksha Bandhan weekend, coupled with holidays, saw a huge passenger surge for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. From August 8 to 11, nearly two crore people rode MSRTC buses, and the corporation earned a revenue of Rs 137.37 crore—around Rs 16 crore more than in the same period last year, thanks to some extent by a fare increase. Monday saw the highest single-day collections of over Rs 39 crore, as per MSRTC officials. Narali Purnima on Friday, Raksha Bandhan on Saturday, and Sunday were followed by the return journey rush on Monday. Assuming such demand, the MSRTC deployed extra buses at the divisional level. Also, parallel services were operated on routes where the passenger load exceeded 60 per cent. Revenue collections were Rs 30.06 crore on Friday, Rs 36.86 crore on Saturday, Rs 33.36 crore on Sunday, and Rs 39.9 crore on Monday. As many as 1.93 crore passengers availed of the service in these four days, and 88 lakh of them were women. Several of them got the 50 per cent fare concession under the Mahila Samman Yojana, for which the MSRTC is compensated by the Government. MSRTC officials said that Raksha Bandhan and Bhai Dooj during Diwali are traditionally among the most revenue-generating days for the corporation. 'Family outings on these festivals result in a big spurt in intercity and intrastate travel. We plan our timings accordingly,' an MSRTC official said. 'This time around, the extra services we ran during the festival season ensured we were able to meet the demand well and post higher revenues.'
