Shimla: Over 250 roads, including two highways, remained blocked, while many areas plunged into darkness, and water supply schemes remained disrupted due to flash floods and landslides as heavy rain lashed Himachal Pradesh for the second successive day on Wednesday. According to the state emergency operations centre (SEOC), 289 roads across Himachal remained closed, with the highest 193 roads disrupted in the flood-hit Mandi district. The Chandigarh-Manali highway was also blocked near Pandoh in the morning hours but was later reopened. A portion of the highway also caved in at Kainchi Mod near Pandoh. This patch of the highway was washed away in the 2023 floods and was rebuilt recently. The Mandi-Rewalsar and Jogindernagar-Dharampur roads were also blocked due to landslides. The Aut to Jalori Jot national highway 305 was also disrupted at Nimla due to a landslide. Three vehicles parked in the area were damaged after being struck by boulders. A landslide blocked the Nakrod-Chanju road in the Churah sub-division Wednesday morning. A flooded Beas river sparked fear among residents of Bangh village near Manali as it started flowing above the danger mark. Also, 345 transformers remained non-functional – 188 in Chamba district alone, followed by 108 in Kullu district, 45 in Mandi, and five in Kangra district. As per the SEOC, 254 water supply schemes were also not working in the state – 134 in Kangra district, 62 in Chamba and 58 in Mandi district. This spectacular sight is part of the four-day Supercar Drive in Himachal, designed to promote luxury tourism in the state. A Luxury Showcase In The Hills Ferraris capable of reaching speeds of 314 km/h, along with Lamborghinis, Porsches, Jaguars, McLarens, Mercedes-Benzes, Audis, BMWs, and the Nissan GTR, are turning heads as they cruise through the hills; each car valued in crores of rupees, with price tags ranging from Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 10 crore. The convoy, comprising nine cars from Mumbai and 10 from Chandigarh, converged in the picturesque town of Manali, accompanied by 24 drivers. Upon arrival at Span Resort, the group was warmly received by Manali MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur, who hailed the event as a milestone for Himachal Pradesh. 'This marks a new beginning for luxury tourism in our state," said Gaur. 'We are proud that Himachal Pradesh has been chosen for this prestigious drive. The government stands in full support of such initiatives that showcase our state's beauty to a global audience."
