Justin Trudeau feels 'ambushed' after Katy Perry dating rumours as they're spotted together

Daily Mirrora day ago
An insider source has claimed former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau feels 'ambushed' by the public attention he is receiving after going out for dinner with Katy Perry
Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have sparked surprise dating rumours this week after being spotted enjoying an intimate dinner in Montreal, Canada.

The pair, who are both recently single and navigating tumultuous chapters in their respective careers, were seen at the trendy Le Violon restaurant before heading out for cocktails at a nearby terrace bar. At the time sources claimed the pop star and former Canadian prime minister spent several hours together on Monday evening tucking into the chef's tasting menu and appeared "comfortable" and "at ease" with each other.

One insider claimed Trudeau had his arm "practically welded" to Perry's waist, although no photographs have emerged to confirm this. Despite the romantic buzz, insiders say not everything is quite as it appears. According to celebrity publicist Rob Shuter, while Perry "really likes" Trudeau and viewed the dinner as a date, the former PM had a different perspective. It comes after reports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set for new 'goldmine' offer - but could face issue.

"I've heard [Trudeau] feels a bit ambushed by all this," Shuter told the Daily Mail. "He wanted tickets to her show and she invited him. While that was going on, she invited him for dinner."
The meeting came just a month after Perry confirmed her split from long-term partner Orlando Bloom. Meanwhile, Trudeau, 53, has kept a low profile since stepping down as PM earlier this year following a steep fall in popularity and a high-profile divorce from wife Sophie in 2023.
Their rumoured romance comes at a time when both public figures could benefit from revamping their image. Toronto-based PR expert Natasha Koifman told CBC News: "I think that was actually probably a strategic move. I think it elevates both of their brands, for very different reasons, to be seen together."

She added that the pair's very public dinner date was a "really great brand and reputational move". Despite the speculation, restaurant staff claimed there was "no PDA" between the pair.
However, the duo didn't exactly try to go unnoticed, as they reportedly sat at a window-facing table and even visited the kitchen to thank the chefs. They were also seen walking one of Perry's dogs in a local park earlier that day, and two days later Trudeau was photographed in the audience with his daughter at Perry's Montreal concert.
Neither Perry nor Trudeau has commented on the rumours. Meanwhile, Orlando Bloom was recently seen singing and dancing at an Oasis gig in Manchester after his split with Perry, and appeared to have not a care in the world.
The actor shared several videos of his time at the concert on Instagram, where he was spotted partying in the VIP section with Liam Gallagher 's sons, Lennon, 25, and Gene, 24.
Before the show, the actor posted a video captioned: "Road to Oasis. Could not be more f'in excited." In another clip, he added: "It's gonna be karaoke all night," as he smiled at the camera. He later warned his Instagram followers about the content of his stories, saying: "If you don't like @oasis swipe on – if you wanna see me run through some of my favourite karaoke numbers for laughs here you are lol."

Woman goes viral for unconventional love story as she insists 4ft husband is not AI-generated

A Canadian content creator has revealed that she had to reassure strangers online that photos of her four-foot husband were not AI-generated. Anita Wing Lee and Timothy Muttoo, from Toronto, met through mutual friends in 2021, but despite having plenty in common, their romantic connection wasn't instant, and she initially friend-zoned him. She said that their height difference was an issue for her at first, as she asked herself: 'How does a "regular" 5'4" woman fall in love with a four-foot-tall man?' Tim, an engineer and co-founder of a Canadian charity working to make clean drinking water accessible to all, was the first to develop romantic feelings, but Anita saw her future husband as a 'great friend'. But after reflecting on her emotions she decided to give Tim a chance and she soon realized Tim was everything she was looking for in a husband: he was kind and with 'no red flags'. Eventually going from friends to partners, the couple got engaged in September 2024 before tying the knot this year. They are now sharing their story on their own website to prove love does come in all shapes and sizes. Tim was born in Canada, while Anita's family moved there from Cambridge when she was young. For 15 years, the pair lived just 20 minutes apart but were completely unaware of each other. They first met at a mutual friend's birthday party in 2021. Soon, they would form a strong friendship, spending hours talking to one another and going on trips together. Eventually, Tim's feelings towards Anita turned romantic. Recalling their love story on their website, Anita said: 'Tim started texting me more frequently, and I found myself feeling uneasy. I didn't see him that way, and I already knew he liked me. 'I felt like I needed to put a stop to it, but at the same time, I didn't want to lose him as a friend.' With the help of her sister, Anita drafted a message to try and explain that she wanted to remain as friends only, and maintain their boundaries with one another. Anita said she hesitated over sending the text, and once she did send the message, she regretted it almost immediately, which suggested to her that her feelings were perhaps stronger for Tim than she realized. However, she wondered: 'But how could I imagine myself with a 4-foot man? Tim's torso was normal-sized, but his arms and legs were shorter. While that could look cute in some ways, it wasn't what I had ever pictured in a partner. 'I had always envisioned myself looking up into my partner's eyes, but with Tim, that wasn't possible. What was I supposed to do?' As she reflected on her feelings, she remembered the love story of motivational speaker Nick Vujicic, who was born with no arms and legs, and his wife Kanae. She eventually discovered that she had strong romantic feelings for Tim and explained how she believed they could have something 'even better' than she pictured for her life. They are now sharing their story online, with Anita recently writing on her Instagram account: 'I never prayed for someone tall. You know how people write out lists of what they're hoping for in a partner? I never actually wrote down 'tall', because I just assumed God would bring me someone tall. Ideally, someone 5 inches taller than me so I could wear heels and they'd still be taller. 'But I never actually added it to my list, because there were other things that mattered more.' She added: 'I prayed for someone with substance and character: a visionary, a humble world traveler, big-hearted and creative (or at least someone who understood my creative soul), with deep faith. And I always sensed he'd come from a different culture. 'It all felt a bit contradictory, so I didn't know where God would find this person. How do you find someone who excels in the modern world and is totally open to leaving it all behind? But that's who I am. All those versions of me co-exist in me, so I trusted that God had someone out there who could hold it all. 'As I got to know @timmuttoo, I saw he was all of these things. But… he wasn't tall. And when I asked God about it, He said, "Well, it wasn't on your list". 'Hey! It wasn't on my list, because it just didn't matter as much as being with someone who understood me to the core and stood by me. Asking for someone tall felt so… surface-level, in comparison. And of course, God picked up on that little omission. Because the external of a person is just that, external. It's the internal - the heart, the soul, the kindness, the way they treat you and others - that truly matters. 'Thankfully, I processed the height thing… and now I actually think it's so adorable! It's an added bonus that brings so much fun and sweetness to our lives! 'So if you're still waiting for your person …they may not look like what you pictured and that might be the best part.' Loved up: Anita got her fairytale ending when she tuned into her feelings for Tim without letting preconceived notions of her 'perfect man' hold her back In another post, she confessed: 'We know many of you have been curious about our story, how we met and how our love grew. And, no, we are not an AI-generated image. 'There's the short version (we met through mutual friends), and then there's the longer version, which we think is far more winding and wonderful. Something that we don't want to forget.' 'So we wrote it all down in the hope that it might inspire and encourage someone one day, right when you need it,' she added, before sharing a link to their website.

Singer cancels tour over poor ticket sales and confesses he 'aimed too high'

Grammy-nominated artist JP Saxe has been forced to axe his entire tour unless he sells 20,000 tickets immediately after he 'aimed too high'. The Canadian singer, 32, is best known for his hit song If The World Was Ending, which he released in 2019 with vocals from Julia Michaels. The track landed him a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year 2021 but lost out to I Can't Breathe by H.E.R. Four years on, and he's taken to social media to confess he had overestimated how many tickets he could sell to his latest tour. 'I'm extremely embarrassed to tell you this, but I'm going to tell you anyway,' he began in a video posted to social media. 'If I don't sell 20 or so thousand tickets to my tour in the next 48 hours, it's going to be cancelled. 'If we're just not in a place yet to sell out these 2,000-, 3,000-cap venues – that's fine. It's always been my goal to connect deeply, not widely, and I stand by that.' The Make Yourself At Home tour was due to start next month with 32-dates scheduled across America, ending in October. He urged fans who might be waiting until the last minute to purchase tickets to act now so it could go ahead. 'Just in case you were waiting till the week of or night of to buy a ticket – that approach just isn't going to work, because there won't be a show to buy a ticket to,' JP continued. 'So whether that happens or not, I'm grateful to you for caring about my songs, and I hold on to a sliver of hope that I will see you in the fall.' After his message, an influx of 'a few thousand extra' ticket sales came in but it still hasn't been enough to save the tour. 'I am beyond grateful to every one of you who bought one,' JP said in a follow-up video once the 48hour deadline had passed. 'Those few thousand tickets are a reminder that being transparent in failure sometimes can be more powerful than the façade of success – a reminder of how wonderful it can be to ask for help and watch a community come together.' With a smile, he added: 'This really was the nicest the internet has ever been to me.' Apologising to those who wanted to come, JP confirmed purchases would be refunded in full 'with a small side of immense gratitude from a dorky ginger Canadian'. He then went on to write about the experience for Variety, explaining that honesty is not always seen as the best policy in the industry but it was important to him. More Trending Rather than an 'ego-saving explanation', the I Don't Miss You singer admitted he had 'aimed too high – my bad.' 'Self-image is delicate on a good day, fragile on a bad one,' he wrote. 'Applause for success is great. 'But there is something more interesting about be applauded for honesty in failure. It's not as good for my ego — but maybe i'ts better for my growth'. Got a story? Celebrity SAS star Rebecca Loos' affair with David Beckham explained

Rebecca Loos is set to appear on Celebrity SAS but her rise to fame came on the back of her alleged affair with David Beckham so here we take a look at the affair scandal in detail Back in 2004, Rebecca Loos was the most sought after person in the UK after she revealed that she'd had an alleged affair with none other than David Beckham. At the time, both David and Victoria Beckham denied her allegations but the former personal assistant stood her ground and exposed their alleged four-month affair to the press, for the entire world to read. ‌ Now, the 48 year old mum of two is set to appear on Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins and yet again her alleged affair with the former England footballer has become a subject of discussion once again. ‌ Rebecca will join Louie Spence, X Factor star Lucy Spraggan and Adebayo 'The Beast' Akinfenwa for the military inspired reality TV show. ‌ It comes after Cat Deeley found moving back to the UK 'really hard' before split from Patrick Kielty. At the time, Rebecca told Sky that David was an "amazing lover" and "they couldn't keep their hands off each other." She explained: "We were just locked into each other all night, conversation-wise, other people noticed… we just connected. I think the chemistry between David and me was so strong… people were aware and they weren't very happy." ‌ She added: "He knows how to please. He's not afraid of a woman's body. He seems to know what he's doing" Rebecca faced backlash for selling her story but in 2021 the reality TV star reflected on why she made that decision that caused a huge media storm. ‌ She explained to Closer: "I just felt the need to be truthful. Whether you've done something that's right or wrong, it was kind of just eating me up. I was living a lie and keeping secrets." She continued: "Max Clifford [former celebrity agent] said to me he'd negotiate an exclusive with the newspaper and that if I was willing to tell absolutely all the juicy details, then I would get up to five or six hundred thousand pounds. Ridiculous money." ‌ According to reports she told the Daily Mail: "People said I was mad. Who was this guy? I hardly knew him, what on earth was I doing? But look at everything I have now, I am so happy. I have no regrets, I am so happy with my life now." ‌ She reportedly said: "But many people are so afraid of change. Change is good, change is how you learn, people should just f**king go for it. I like the way my life has taken me. If I hadn't been famous, I would not have been invited on the TV show where I met my husband, Sven and had my lovely boys. I would not have had the life I have now." Rebecca met her husband Sven Christjar Skaiaa, who is a medic, during filming 71 Degrees North. The couple married in 2012 and share two children together. The family now live in Norway and she works as a youga teacher while not on TV. In a statement released at the time, David said: "During the past few months, I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life. The simple truth is that I am very happily married. I have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change these facts." Victoria had remained silent in 2004 but three years later she admitted: "I'm not going to lie. It was a really tough time. No one said marriage was going to be easy. Yes, there have been bumps along the road. But the fact is we've come out of everything we've been through stronger and happier."
