I tested Samsung's AI vac with BRAIN that knows how to clean better than me – but the most shocking part was on my phone

The Sun12-07-2025
SAMSUNG is not just pushing out super slim smartphones - but super clever household appliances too, such as the Bespoke Jet AI Ultra.
The vacuum is smarter than ever, and can even stop automatically so you can take phone calls.

The clever cordless cleaner even delivers message alerts when you connect your phone to the vacuum via Samsung's SmarThings app.
When you're about to miss a call or text over the sound of the hoover, a notification pops up on the Samsung vacuum's display.
The 2025 Bespoke AI Jet Ultra can even turn off automatically whenever you receive said phone call or message.
The display also alerts you to any blockages, and tells you which cleaning mode its artificial intelligence (AI) brain has decided is best for each room.

Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Brainy AI
The vacuum includes a revamped version of Samsung's 'AI Optimum Tech' which can classify more surfaces than before.
As the vacuum glides across each room, it can detect different carpet types and flooring by sensing the brush load and vacuuming air pressure.
It then automatically adjusts its settings, like suction power and brush speed, to suit.
By sensing the floor type, you're always on the right setting - which not only makes cleaning less labour intensive, but can also save the cordless vacuum's battery.

Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Battery
According to Samsung, the Ultra can vacuum continuously for up to 100 minutes while on Min mode - the least powerful of the five cleaning modes: Min, Mid, Max, AI, and Jet.
But that time shrinks drastically if you want to use the mega powerful 400W Jet mode.
Sun tests world's thinnest vacuum at Dyson HQ – and 'PencilVac' is SAS of cleaning
While cordless vacuums are a dream to use, it never fails to surprise me just how quickly they run out of charge.
I suppose that's why the AI is there to tell me that every surface does not, in fact, require the extreme suckage of the Jet mode.
Fortunately, it comes with two battery packs - so you do have a backup.
One battery is more lightweight than the other, which Samsung says is for "quick and easy daily cleaning".
The heftier one is when you want to tackle the whole home.
The battery recharges when the vacuum is docked inside the cleaning station, and there is a separate charger for the other battery pack.
'At Samsung, we continuously search for solutions that excel at everyday cleaning,' Samsung exec Jeong Seung Moon said when the Ultra was unveiled in April.
'To meet the increasingly varied cleaning requirements of modern homes, this stick vacuum has been designed to offer powerful suction and advanced AI features in a lightweight form factor.'
NEVER MISS A CALL
First, you'll need to connect the vacuum to your phone in the SmarThings app. Here's how:
Open the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet, and tap the + button to add a new device to your network.
You can then choose the Scan QR code option and scan the QR code found on the side of the Bespoke Jet stick.
Alternatively, you can try the Scan nearby option or add the Jet stick vacuum manually.
How to turn on call and message alerts on your Samsung vacuum:
Open the SmarThings app on your phone and select your Samsung vacuum.
Access Call and message alerts.
Tap OK at the Keep Location turned on pop-up.
Allow SmartThings Companion to make and manage phone calls.
Allow SmartThings Companion to send and view SMS messages.
Allow SmartThings Companion to access your location all the time.
Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Dust buster
The SmarThings app even tells you when the vacuum is fully charged, its default suction power setting, and when its dustbin was last emptied.
The Bespoke Jet AI Ultra comes with a sleek, and stylish stand that doubles up as a clean station.
The clean station will automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin when you dock the vacuum.
According to Samsung, the clean station has a multi-layered filter system that traps a whopping 99.999% of fine dust.
The new vacuum boasts a HEPA filtration system with an upgraded fine dust filter that reduces dust particles escaping into the air - and avoids the horrid musty smell that can happen when you hoover.

Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: What a head-ache
The vacuum comes with three brush heads, alongside all the other typical nozzle modcons.
In the box comes the Active Dual Brush head, the Slim LED Brush+, and the Pet Tool+ brush head.
It left me yearning for an all-in-one brush head, simply out of laziness.
Plus, where are we supposed to keep all of these heads, anyway?
Well, Samsung does provide you with a little carousel-style tower for all the accessories, although it's not as stylish as the clean station.
But I suppose for the eyewatering price of £1,199 - the more heads the merrier.
Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra: Pricing
The vacuum, which comes in both black and mint colours, is priced at £1,199.00 at most retailers, including Samsung, John Lewis and Very.
That said, Samsung has currently slashed the price on its website by £300.00 - taking it down to £899.00.

THE VERDICT
While its has a lofty price tag, the Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Ultra is a clever and stylish cleaning gadget that really gets the job done.
Unless you have a cleaning cupboard in your house, I often find the hoover is a bit of an eyesore in my otherwise lovely and possibly even stylish home.
Samsung has squashed that woe with its sleek, compact design that really is easy on the eyes.
Aesthetics aside, the vacuum is a sturdy piece of kit that makes cleaning the house much easier than lugging around a corded hoover.
It's lightweight, and packs a 400W punch with its Jet mode.
Although I don't believe I'll have much use for the call alert system - it's a nice touch, and could really come in handy some day.
The AI telling me which mode is best for which floor is ideal, it means the vacuum can conserve energy - which in turn, keeps my energy bills down.

Smart tags for possessions are gaining popularity, and many view them as a necessity. They can be expensive, and some are more reliable than others, so it's vital for purchasers to ensure they're making the right choice. It boasts GPS features, and all customers need to do is register their tag to their smartphone and activate the 'search nearby' feature. If that doesn't yield results, they can use the 'ring your tag' function, which will cause the tracker to emit an audible signal so users can locate it. The tag also boasts an extended battery life - up to 500 days - and is IP67 dust and water resistant, ensuring customers don't have to fret about it failing outdoors in damp conditions, reports the Express. If the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag doesn't tick all the boxes, there are other options available. For instance, the Apple AirTag, priced at £29 from Argos, can be attached to keys, backpacks, luggage or wallets and can guide customers to their lost items. Another alternative is the Motorola Moto Tag Bluetooth Item Finder, available for £29.99 from John Lewis, which can be attached to personal belongings and, when paired with an Android phone, can locate anything with pinpoint accuracy. The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag has received a high rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars on Amazon. One customer commented: "So handy to be able to locate your car keys when you're off to work in the morning. Certainly a useful gadget and has saved me so much time." Another user wrote: "Works great, easy to set up, connects to smart things, it's light, good size and accurate. Works by picking up signal from nearby/passing Samsung phones and pings from that location so you know where it was last, not necessarily where it is. "I'm really impressed with this tracker, it was simple to set up and worked reliably in showing my motorcycle's location on a recent two week trip around Europe. Great value for money and so many potential applications!" another customer praised. However, some users expressed disappointment with the tracker. One said: "Lack of features in some sense, would be useful to have notifications if the tag moved when you're not nearby it. Duolingo raises 2025 revenue forecast as AI tools boost user engagement

Aug 6 (Reuters) - Language-learning app Duolingo (DUOL.O), opens new tab raised its annual revenue forecast and beat second-quarter revenue estimates on Wednesday, anticipating broader adoption of its AI-enhanced subscription tier among its global user base. The company's shares rose about 20% in trading after the bell. Duolingo operates on a freemium model, offering basic language-learning features for free while providing premium capabilities through monthly or annual paid subscriptions. The company now expects revenue for 2025 to be in the range of $1.01 billion to $1.02 billion, compared to analysts' estimates of $996.6 million. It had earlier projected revenue between $987 million and $996 million for the year. Revenue in the April-June period was $252.3 million, compared with analysts' estimates of $240.7 million. Duolingo's two subscription tiers — Super, designed for frequent learners, and Max, tailored for advanced users — include AI-driven features such as video-call conversation practice with chatbots, personalized error analysis and enhanced feedback tools. Since launching an AI-powered video-call tool for Android in January, Duolingo has expanded the feature to additional languages, aiming to boost subscription growth by enabling users to practice natural conversations across a broader linguistic range. Duolingo's gross margin benefited this quarter from lower-than-expected AI costs, as the decline in margin from expanding Max and AI features was much smaller than the company had originally expected. "The cost of calling AI tools has come down a lot. Ads also did better; ads are not a big part of our business, but it turned out that it helped margin a little bit as well," CFO Matt Skaruppa told Reuters. Duolingo leverages generative AI to create and personalize bite-sized lessons across more than 100 language courses. In April, CEO Luis von Ahn said that after taking 12 years to develop the first 100 courses, the company's AI tools helped it introduce 148 new courses in roughly one year. Duolingo expects revenue for the third quarter to be in the range of $257 million to $261 million, compared to analysts' estimates of $253 million, according to data compiled by LSEG. The firm also forecast an adjusted core profit of $288.1 million to $295.5 million for 2025.

Instagram adds feature that users have wanted for years

Instagram is introducing a new "repost" feature, allowing users to share friends' pictures and reels, a functionality already common on other social media platforms. Unlike other platforms, reposted content will not appear on a user's main profile but in a dedicated tab on their profile. The platform is also adding a "friends" tab within Reels, which will display content exclusively from friends or posts they have interacted with. Users will have control over their privacy settings, including the ability to switch off the display of their likes or comments in the friends' feed. These updates are part of Instagram's efforts to make user feeds more relevant and are currently rolling out globally, having started in the US.
