New Look's £45 midi dress hailed by shoppers for 'making waists look tiny'

Daily Record2 days ago

The Square Neck Midi Dress has a 4.7 out of 5 star rating on the New Look website.
Whether you're gearing up for a wedding or curating your holiday ensemble, a flattering dress is a must-have.
The fashion scene is abuzz with the trend of dropped waistlines, and New Look's Square Neck Midi Dress chicly integrates this style while oozing sophistication.

Comfort meets flair in the dress's three-panel construct, offering a fit-and-flare profile that accentuates the waist and hips before cascading into an elegantly feminine skirt. It comes in both bold red and black shades, all though the latter colour is currently only available in sizes 18 to 22.

Retailing at £45.99, the midi dress boasts machine-washable fabric, incorporating a layered bust feature and finished with a zip detail on the back. For those seeking extra flair, River Island's Black V Neck Frill Midi Dress comes in at £46, complete with puff sleeves and frilly neckline embellishments.
On the more casual side, Next's Black Sleeveless Drop Waist 100% Cotton Crew Neck Midi Dress, priced at £28, is perfect for relaxed events, reports Yorkshire Live.
New Look described their attire: "This midi dress is an occasion wear take on the fit-and-flare silhouette. The gathered skirt counters the slender, panelled bodice."

Patrons have been quick to sing its praises, showering the frock with five-star reviews for its shape-enhancing design.
The Square Neck Midi Dress from New Look is garnering plenty of accolades, currently holding an impressive 4.7 out of 5 stars rating, making it a top pick for those on the lookout for a new frock.
Delighted by her purchase, one customer said: " This dress is so beautiful, managed to get it with a 25 percent discount code but it's worth full price in my opinion, the fit is perfect on me and it's so flattering, love it."

However, some petite buyers have found the fit less than perfect due to its length, with one commenting: "I'm 5ft 1 and generally have a short torso so found the straps were a little long. Returned but would probably repurchase if there were a petite option."
One satisfied customer remarked: "Stunning dress that is mid/just below calf length (I'm 5'6). Looks amazing with a tan and makes your waist look tiny and gorgeous neckline. Absolutely love it! Fits true to normal size."

Another happy shopper succinctly put it: "Love it! Nice item."

Shoppers rush to buy Rochelle Humes' 'very on-trend' linen jacket

Made from a timeless linen material, the jacket has a structured silhouette The high street is full to the brim with linen pieces, from trousers to co-ords and waistcoats. The material is a classic summertime choice because it is airy and breathable to wear during hot days. TV presenter Rochelle Humes has been showcasing many new-in Next summer linen pieces on the brand's website, including a striking jacket. The Cotton Linen Blend Trophy Jacket is available in a light neutral hue. Priced at £64, the lightweight outerwear piece has been released as part of Rochell'e's latest summer edit with Next. It has a structured fit, a collarless design and four faux pockets. Shoppers can choose from sizes 6-26, but size 8 is currently out of stock. One shopper opted to size down, writing: "Lovely material. Very on trend. Great length to wear with jeans, a skirt or trousers. It can be dressed up or down. They added: "Quite a generous size. I tried size 14 first but sized down to 12." An additional buyer wasn't as pleased: "It's not suitable. The material is stiff and thick, and the jacket is too short." Another buy highlights its versatility, writing: "Great jacket for corporate or casual wear. Good quality. Fits true to size." Rochelle wears the jacket with lightwash jeans and white ballet flats for a casual yet put-together daytime look. There are lots of other summer jacket alternatives on the high street, including this cream denim jacket from White Stuff. Made from organic cotton, it has a slightly longline design. The jacket is on sale for £56, down from £70. Elsewhere, New Look has a lightweight shacket offered for £29.99. Offered in five neutral tones, has a military-style design and popper buttons. Returning to Next's linen jacket reviews, a different consumer added: "Nice smart jacket. Ideal for warmer days."

'Radical' - Review: Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, Theatre Royal, Glasgow

Decades on, and Bourne's globally-celebrated Swan Lake continues to surprise and delight visually-striking male swans, bare-torso'd in their white, frondy britches, have a lithe synchronicity that melds grace and muscularity with an edge of feral menace - no wonder the vulnerable misfit Prince (Leonardo McCorkindale) is as entranced as we are when the Swan (Jackson Fisch) comes unexpectedly close to him… Their ensuing duets resonate with a burgeoning trust and tenderness that is markedly absent from the Prince's life at court. Read more Bourne's knack for nuanced story-telling ensures we swiftly grasp the hidden desires, self-interest, insidious manipulation and callous indifference that prevail there - Katrina Lyndon's Queen is a prime example of this, uncaringly cold towards her son, openly hot towards any man who takes her fancy. Some tongue-in-cheek details are, perhaps, no longer timely but they nonetheless conjure up a persuasive context for what tragically unfolds. Bourne has tagged this 30th Anniversary tour as 'The Next Generation' - many of those on-stage weren't even born when Swan Lake was devised! From first to last, they do him proud, keeping meticulous faith with his intentions and his choreographic invention. Lez Brotherston's designs remain wonderfully sympathetic to Bourne's creative impulses: the swan costumes are now iconic. Thirty years on, and this Swan Lake not only seizes the audience's imagination - it captures their hearts as well.
