White is joined in the cast of "Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere" by Jeremy Strong, Stephen Graham, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Marc Maron, Johnny Cannizzaro, David Krumholtz and Chris Jaymes.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Warren Zanes, which chronicles the making of Springsteen's 1982 album, "Nebraska". The album is known as one of Springsteen's more personal outings, recorded on a four track recorder in the rocker's bedroom.
In a statement about the film, Cooper said, "Making 'Springsteen' was deeply moving as it allowed me to step inside the soul of an artist I've long admired – and to witness, up close, the vulnerability and strength behind his music. The experience felt like a journey through memory, myth, and truth."
"And more than anything, it was a privilege to translate that raw emotional honesty to the screen, and in doing so, it changed me. I cannot thank Bruce and Jon Landau enough for allowing me to tell their story."
"Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere" is the latest in a growing list of music biopics along with popular titles like "A Complete Unknown" and "Bohemian Rhapsody". Not quite two weeks ago it was announced that Nick Jonas had been cast as Paul Stanley in the upcoming KISS biopic "Shout It Out Loud".
"Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere" arrives only in theaters October 24.

Man Has Brain Surgery in the Morning, Tears Over What Girlfriend Organizes
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Facing a major medical procedure is a daunting prospect, but one man was met with a touching act of love that has captured the hearts of millions. The night before his brain surgery, his girlfriend, Kiya McLaurin, gathered his closest friends and family to read his favorite childhood book aloud. The emotional moment, which was shared in a viral TikTok video that received over 3.6 million likes, was a testament to the powerful support system surrounding him. McLaurin, 22, told Newsweek about what inspired the moment, and how her boyfriend, Tucker, has fared since the procedure. Photos from Kiya McLaurin's TikTok video of her reading to her boyfriend before his brain surgery. Photos from Kiya McLaurin's TikTok video of her reading to her boyfriend before his brain surgery. @kiyamclaurinn/TikTok McLaurin said she and Tucker were dealing with the sudden diagnosis of a brain tumor that needed to be removed. In a bid to provide comfort, McLaurin decided to read his favorite childhood book, The Giving Tree. "It was hard to explain why I thought reading the story was the right thing to do," McLaurin said. "None of us wanted the night to end." The Shel Silverstein story holds a special place in his heart, not only because it was his mother's favorite—but also because it inspired his personal motto. "Ever since I have known Tucker, he has talked about this book," McLaurin said, adding that her boyfriend would often say, "'Trust is like a tree." She explained the meaning behind the phrase: "'It takes a long time to grow a tree, just like it takes a while to build real trust or a solid friendship. But once it is grown and has strong roots, it takes a whole lot to tear it down.'" A Room Full of Love and Support As McLaurin started reading in the hospital room, the mood shifted. "I was acting like it was just a normal thing, and then, about three pages in, I found myself really getting into it and trying not to cry," she said. "You could feel the shift in the room as everyone got quiet and actually started listening." In that moment, McLaurin said she felt "an overwhelming sense of home and belonging, knowing we were surrounded by our people and those who love us through everything." The emotional weight of the reading was not lost on Tucker's friends. While many were surprised by the unexpected gesture, they quickly became immersed in the moment. "One of his friends right after said something like, 'Wow, that got way more serious than I thought it was going to be,'" McLaurin said. She added that the video shows everyone was "completely tuned in"—no phones, no distractions, which reveals something special about the character of Tucker's loved ones. A Long Road to Recovery The surgery, which was a vital first step, went as well as they all could have hoped for, according to McLaurin. Tucker is now at home recovering in a "familiar space." The couple's relationship, which began with their first date and has been inseparable ever since, has only been strengthened by the experience. McLaurin made a promise that she would "stay by his side through it all" and has been a constant presence at the hospital and during his recovery. "At 22 years old, you do not really think something like this will happen to you or to someone you love, and it pushes you into high gear when it comes to loving and existing out loud," McLaurin said. While the couple have a long road ahead, one thing is for certain—she is determined to walk it together.

Terence Stamp, Oscar Nominee Famous For Superman Movies, Dies Aged 87
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Terence Stamp, an English actor best known for playing the villain General Zod in the movies "Superman: The Movie" and "Superman II," passed away on Sunday at the age of 87, his family said. "He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come," the family said. "We ask for privacy at this sad time." Stamp starred in dozens of films, ranging from the comic book Superman films to Disney cult hit "The Haunted Mansion" and the 1994 hit "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert." A fixture of the London theater scene in the 1960s, Stamp was friends with fellow actors Michael Caine and Peter O'Toole. He found his big break in the 1962 adaptation of the Herman Melville novel "Billy Budd" as the titular character, earning an Oscar nomination and winning a Golden Globe award for his performance. Despite his breadth of work, Stamp remained firmly connected to the Superman franchise, playing the role of Superman's birth father Jor-El in the TV show "Smallville." He also made several voice acting acting appearances, with roles in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Halo 3. This is a breaking news story. Updates will follow.

The 2025 New York Film Festival has added the premiere of Scott Cooper's Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White as the iconic musician, as its Spotlight Gala selection. The film, adapted from Warren Zanes' 2023 best-selling book of the same name, is set in the early '80s at a key time in Springsteen's career as he was recording the personal, acoustic songs that would make up his Nebraska album while also working on demos for Born in the U.S.A. and navigating his growing fame. Cooper directs from his own script. In addition to White, Deliver Me From Nowhere stars Jeremy Strong as Springsteen's longtime manager Jon Landau as well as Marc Maron, Stephen Graham, Gaby Hoffman, Paul Walter Hauser, David Krumholtz and Odessa Young. Cooper, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson and Scott Stuber produce, with Tracey London and Zanes executive producing. 20th Century Studios is set to release Deliver Me From Nowhere in theaters Oct. 24. Getting to know Bruce, to explore his world and his spirit, has been one of the most profound creative experiences of my life. To share that experience with New York audiences, in a city that defines artistic possibility, is both an honor and a responsibility I hold with deep gratitude.' Anchored by Jeremy Allen White's revelatory performance, this year's Spotlight Gala selection is a fitting tribute to a living legend.'
