Narragansett Restaurant Week offers deals: Where to dine to score special meals
The 16th annual Narragansett Restaurant Week begins Friday, March 28 with 20 restaurants offering dining deals through April 4.
George's of Galilee, the Coast Guard House, Arturo Joe's, Matunuck Oyster Bar, Mariner Grille, The Coffee Guy, Duck Press, Gansett Poke, Surfside Deli, Greenhouse, Bike Stop Cafe, Boon Street Market, Spain of Narragansett, Breachway Grill, Kabuki Asian Sushi, Twin Willows, T's Restaurant, Rudy's Bar & Grille and Job Corps are all offering dining deals. Tower Hill Brewing is participating for beer tasting.
Restaurant Weeks traditionally offers fixed-price menus, specials, discounted items and other deals to attract diners.
At press time, only two restaurants had posted their deals and menus.
Spain is offering a three-course fixed-price menu for $45.25. Choose a first course from Mixed Salad, Coconut Shrimp or Stuffed Portobello Mushroom. Then choose an entree from Branzino, Surf & Turf or Chicken Adaluza (stuffed with prosciutto, spinach and provolone). Dessert choices are Tres Leches, Key Lime Pie or Chocolate Flourless Torte.
Arturo Joe's is offering a three-course dinner for $25.25. Choose from one of five entrees: Ahi Tuna, Pork Ossobucco, Panko-encrusted Mahi Mahi, Eggplant Rollatini and Papa's Platter with Chicken Parmesan, Meatball and Sausage and pasta. Each entree comes with a house garden salad and dessert.
Some restaurants restrict the hours and days of the deals.
Boon Street Market, which opened this summer as a food hall with different cuisine concepts in open kitchen stalls, is a first-time participant. They serve pizza at Cousin Vinny's, Mexican specialties at Ocho Loco, Asian food at Rhody Ramen and burgers and barbecue at Smoked n' Smashed.
A kick-off party will be held Thursday, March 27 at the Towers beginning at 6:30 p.m. There are limited tickets available on Eventbrite at $50.
The Narragansett Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Narragansett Restaurant Week.

The airline is celebrating some of its popular summer travel destinations with a new European-inspired in-flight dining menu beginning June 11 for customers flying in Flagship Business, a Flagship Suite Preferred seat, or a Flagship Suite seat on select European routes. The menu items inspired by France are ratatouille and a porcini short rib paired with polenta and blue cheese, while the Italian-inspired menu features an herbed short rib with pea risotto and pan-seared halibut with fingerling potatoes. Would it be a German menu without schnitzel and spaetzle? American Airlines isn't taking that risk, adding both to the menu with potatoes and blistered tomatoes accompanying the schnitzel, and grilled zucchini, cremini mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes joining the spaetzle. The theme continues with the Spain-inspired menu items, going coastal with a mar y mar paella and a seared sea bass served with squid ink rice, while the U.K. is represented with mustard-crumb lamb served with turnips, peas and baby carrots, and a peppercorn short rib with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. That's not the only change being implemented, as the airline is now giving customers more time to make their pre-order selections by adjusting the pre-order meal window to 20 hours before departure, giving them four additional hours than they currently have to select their in-flight meal. Spain's wildest pilgrimage, El Rocío, brings together faith, nature and partying
EL ROCIO, Spain (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of Catholic pilgrims slogged for days under a punishing sun through country roads, sandy paths, even a river ford to reach the tiny hamlet of El Rocío in southern Spain for Pentecost weekend. An icon of the Virgin Mary — La Virgen del Rocío — has been venerated in this remote area since the Middle Ages. Today, dressed in their finest but caked in dust and sweat, crowds jostle to be the first to pray and sing sevillanas — flamenco songs — before Mary in the white sanctuary by the wetlands where wild horses and flamingos roam. On the multi-day journey by foot, horseback or ox-driven cart, and in the houses that line the streets of the village, there's a lot of partying, drinking, music and laughter. But there are also solemn vows, hushed worship services, tears of thanksgiving by flickering candlelight. 'Since I was a little boy, the center of everything has been the Virgin,' said Javier Berjano, who walked from Sevilla with the Triana brotherhood, one of the oldest and largest of the more than 100 involved. 'The importance of the pilgrimage is not that it's easy or nice, but that it's worthwhile.' The pinnacle of the pilgrimage is the procession of the icon of the Virgin Mary in the overnight hours between Pentecost Sunday and Monday. Crowds jostle to reach the gold-covered image of Mary looking down at an infant Jesus in her lap, which is then carried through the sand streets and plazas to visit each brotherhood house.
