No Frills, a discount grocery chain, is opening a new store on The Kingsway in Greater Sudbury on Thursday.
'This new location brings No Frills' unwavering commitment to exceptional value, strong community support, and support for local organizations directly to the heart of Sudbury,' the company said in a news release.
'This opening marks a significant moment for the Sudbury community, providing residents with unprecedented access to affordable, quality groceries and everyday essentials.'
About 60 new jobs
The new store will employ about 60 people, said a news release from the parent company, Loblaws Inc. Staff were hired during a job fair held earlier this summer.
'We are absolutely thrilled to open our doors and welcome the vibrant community of Sudbury to their very own No Frills,' Jennifer Teixeira, vice-president of operations for No Frills operations in Ontario and Atlantic, said in the release.
'This store isn't just about incredible value; it's about building a cornerstone for the community, fostering connections, and ensuring that every family in Sudbury has access to fresh, high-quality food without compromise. We've felt the city's excitement and our dedicated team is equally eager and ready to serve this community.'
As part of its grand opening celebration, No Frills Sudbury is donating $1,500 to Better Beginnings Better Futures, an organization dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families in the community.
The new No Frills in Sudbury is located at 1425 on The Kingsway and will be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Loblaw is Canada's largest retailer, with more than 2,800 locations employing more than 220,000 full- and part-time workers.
