Anthony Edwards has one major exciting update amid his offseason break
As
Anthony Edwards
enjoys an offseason breather following a strong playoff run with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the rising NBA star is making headlines off the court in the world of sports fashion.
While many fans expected a quiet summer from the 22-year-old All-Star, a surprising announcement from adidas has set the stage for Edwards to break new ground with a product crossover.
Anthony Edwards makes bold offseason move as Adidas unveils first-ever AE 1 football cleats
Anthony Edwards' first signature shoe with adidas — the AE 1 — was an instant hit. Its sharp design and on-court performance made it one of the brand's most successful basketball launches in recent memory. Now, in an unprecedented move, Adidas is turning that hardwood success into a cleated version for the football field.
Set to release in summer 2026, the AE 1 Low will be reimagined as a high-performance football cleat. The cleat features the same visual DNA as the original, including the signature TPU honeycomb wing, fanged toe cap, and breathable mesh upper. But Adidas has added the Freak Plate 20s outsole for field-ready grip, maintaining the sneaker's low-cut silhouette while enhancing stability and explosive mobility.
Edwards, who was a former youth football player, seems the perfect face for this basketball-to-football transition.
Long before dazzling NBA crowds, Edwards was lighting up youth football fields as a standout running back and quarterback. 'I could have been a professional football player,' Edwards recently admitted. 'I was really good. I was the No. 1 running back in the country at 9 or 10. I stopped playing because I seen my brothers playing basketball.
I thought it looked more fun.'
That fateful switch from football to basketball eventually led him to the University of Georgia, where he became one of the most electrifying players in the country before going No.
1 in the 2020 NBA Draft. Since entering the league, Edwards has lived up to the hype, earning All-NBA Second Team honors this season while averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.

His crossover success isn't just limited to stats; Edwards is now the first Adidas basketball athlete to have a shoe adapted for football. It was a distinction previously reserved for Nike legends like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Michael Jordan. Even NFL players like Jordan Addison and Travis Hunter have pushed for this cleat version of Edwards' shoe, with Addison debuting a custom pair in an NFL game last year.

Brooklyn Nets player Michael Porter Jr revealed using unconventional means to gauge women's reactions During the 'One Night with Steiny' podcast, Brooklyn Nets player Michael Porter Jr. revealed a lot of things about how he would want to perceive a woman. 'I need to see a little bit about their, like, beliefs,' said the star, discussing how he wants to approach when it comes to dating someone. 'So, I'm not saying I'm a misogynist or anything, but I'll throw on some Andrew Tate and see how they react... I'll bring up, like, conversations and play devil's advocate just to see how this girl, like, thinks about certain things.' He was very clear about the 'Misogynist' part and made sure to mention it to avoid controversy. However, in between the podcast, he didn't quite clarify if they agreed with Andrew Tate or had utterly disapproving views. Michael Porter Jr revealed how sports betting has become a serious problem in NBA The podcast saw a variety of topics discussed by the Brooklyn Nets star. At one point, he mentioned that sports betting has its loopholes when it comes to the NBA. 'Think about it: if you can get all your homies rich by telling them, 'Yo, bet $10,000 on my under. This one game, I'm gonna act like I got an injury, I'ma sit out, I'ma come out after three minutes,' and they all get a little bag because you did it one game,' he told the hosts of 'One Night With Steiny'. 'That is so not okay, but some people probably think like that. They come from nothing and all their homies have nothing.' He believes the NBA faces significant issues with sports betting. Team Indias Asia Cup Squad 2025: Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Readdy And Hardik Pandya; Indias Probable List Of All-Rounders
photoDetails english As Asia Cup 2025 approaches, Team India's all-rounder selection is under the spotlight. Hardik Pandya remains the first-choice all-rounder, while Axar Patel and Washington Sundar strengthen India's spin-bowling options. Shivam Dube faces uncertainty due to a surplus of multi-skilled players, with Rinku Singh offering middle-order batting stability. Injured Nitish Kumar Reddy is likely out, creating opportunities for versatile performers. Fast-bowling options include Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Prasidh Krishna, complementing India's all-rounders. Squad balance is key, with selectors weighing the impact of specialists versus multi-role players to ensure a winning line-up in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Updated:Aug 16, 2025, 03:51 PM IST 1. Hardik Pandya: India's All-Round Anchor 1 / 11 Hardik Pandya remains the undisputed first-choice all-rounder, offering explosive batting and seam bowling. His presence ensures balance in the middle order and versatility for T20 strategies. 2. Axar Patel: Spin-Bowling All-Rounder Certainty 2 / 11 Axar Patel is a likely pick, combining left-arm spin with reliable lower-order batting. His inclusion strengthens India's spin-heavy bowling attack for UAE pitches in Asia Cup 2025. 3. Washington Sundar: The Utility All-Rounder 3 / 11 Washington Sundar's ability to bowl economically and contribute crucial runs makes him a key T20 all-rounder. He offers depth, especially when managing India's multi-format workload. 4. Shivam Dube: Question Mark in Selection 4 / 11 Shivam Dube's inclusion is debated. Despite a strong IPL 2025 season, India already has multiple all-rounders. His role may be limited, potentially warming the bench. 5. Rinku Singh vs Dube: Middle-Order Dilemma 5 / 11 Rinku Singh, a pure batter with superior India T20 stats, competes with Dube for a squad spot. Teams may favor Rinku for middle-order stability over an extra bowling option. 6. Nitish Kumar Reddy: Injury Concern 6 / 11 Nitish Kumar Reddy is expected to miss the tournament due to a knee injury. This reduces options for batting depth and spin-bowling flexibility among India's all-rounders. 7. Harshit Rana & Prasidh Krishna: Fast-Bowling Support 7 / 11 Alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, Rana and Krishna compete for the third seamer's role. Their inclusion complements all-rounders, balancing pace and spin in the squad. 8. Spin Depth: Kuldeep, Varun & Axar 8 / 11 India's spin arsenal is strong, with Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel. All-rounders who bowl spin add strategic advantage in T20 conditions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. 9. Middle-Order Versatility: Abhishek Sharma & Tilak Varma 9 / 11 With top-order stability from Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav, all-rounders like Pandya and Sundar provide crucial batting support, ensuring flexible line-ups against Pakistan and UAE. 10. Squad Strategy: All-Rounders vs Specialists 10 / 11 Team management may prioritize specialist batters over surplus all-rounders. The Asia Cup 2025 selection emphasizes balance, ensuring key all-rounders are impactful rather than redundant. 11 / 11
