In the vibrant suburb of Juhu, Mumbai, where stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and Shatrughan Sinha stay, , a quieter legend was being born. It was here that Raghunandan Srinivas Kamath set up the very first Naturals Ice Cream parlour in 1984. While Bollywood stars drew crowds with their glamour, Kamath captivated hearts with something even sweeter—his handcrafted, fruit-filled ice creams. These three celebrities, symbolic of timeless appeal, unknowingly shared their neighborhood with a man who would go on to become an iconic name in India's dessert culture.Kamath strategically chose Juhu for his first outlet, knowing that the neighborhood's star power—thanks to residents like Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, and Hema Malini—would naturally attract more foot traffic and curious customers, he once told a newspaper.'Celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha and Hema Malini stayed in the area. I thought they'd draw more crowds,' Kamath told Telegraph in 2015.Born into a humble family, Kamath learned early the importance of quality produce from his father, a fruit vendor. At just 14, he left school to help in his brother's eatery, 'Gokul Refreshments.' It was there that the spark for something bigger took root. He envisioned an ice cream that didn't rely on artificial flavors or mass production—but rather celebrated the rich bounty of Indian fruits. After parting ways with his brother, Kamath invested Rs 3.5 lakh and launched Naturals Ice Cream with a mere six staff members and a tiny 200 sq. ft. shop. His vision was clear: to craft pure, fruit-based ice creams with simple ingredients—fruit, milk, and sugar. The inaugural menu featured just 12 flavors, including sitaphal, tender coconut, jackfruit, muskmelon, and kala jamun. These were unheard-of in commercial ice creams at the time, and they immediately set Naturals apart. He kept advertising to a minimum, relying instead on word-of-mouth. His belief was that a good product would speak for itself—and it did.Over the years, the Naturals menu grew to include over 20 flavors available at any time, including bold options like gajar halwa, tilgul, cucumber, and prasadam.Naturals Ice Cream has now grown into a Rs 300+ crore enterprise with more than 165 outlets spread across 15 states in India. Its Tender Coconut flavor has even earned international recognition. Pushing boundaries even today, the company recently introduced vending machines to offer 24/7 ice cream access. This blend of tradition and innovation continues to drive Naturals forward. Raghunandan Kamath passed away in 2024 at the age of 75, leaving behind not just a successful business, but a legacy of taste, trust, and tenacity. From a small shop in Juhu to a nationwide brand adored by millions, his journey is a testament to what can be built from a simple idea, pure ingredients, and an unshakable dream.

Chennai's You Mee takes one on a flavourful journey through Japan and beyond
Sichuan Crispy Chicken, hibachi fried rice and dorayaki pancakes are a welcome addition to the options available at Express Avenue mall. You Mee, which opened recently, is already popular with diners. The welcoming manga-inspired decor at this pan-Asian restaurant, in white, black and red, is at once dramatic and cheerful, setting the tone for an immersive and inviting experience. Pan Indian food is having its moment, as Indian diners get more adventurous experimenting beyond fried rice and Sichuan noodles. You Mee offers a glimpse into trending cuisines and dishes from Japanese ramen bowls to dimsum and ramen. The model has proved so successful that they have opened across the country, including in Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mohali and Pune. I begin with a Prawn tempura sushi roll, which is light and crisp with perfectly-cooked prawns. The roll is accompanied by crumbled fish roe, cucumber, and a touch of mayonnaise The menu offers a well-balanced mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and vegan options. In a bid to cater to a larger audience, the food is designed for Indian diners, so there is an interesting variety of vegetarian dishes, from eight different types of vegetarian sushi to an addictively simple Japanese salad made with spinach and seasoned with a creamy sesame dressing. Among the appetisers, while the crisp lotus stem is fairly standard fare, the chilli coriander chicken dumpling and crisp chicken Sichuan stand out for their punchy flavours. The coriander chicken dumpling, filled with minced chicken, red chilli, and shiitake mushrooms, has the right balance of spices, and goes well with its tangy coriander sauce topping. We also try their New York Chilli Cheese oil dimsum, a signature dish at You Mee. This is a cheese lover's dream, with a generous stuffing, made of cream cheese, mushroom, water chestnuts, then drizzled with chilli oil. Tempted by the description of their Sichuan Crispy chicken, we order that as well, and it turns out to be a bold spicy dish of stir-fried chicken with a Himalayan chilli, black beans and Sichuan pepper. The Japanese style Miso soup that we ordered arrives hot, with a pleasing umami from the dashi stock and miso paste. The soup comes with an option of tofu or prawn. For our main dish, we decide on spicy chicken ramen. The menu also offers five vegetarian ramen options, which include a vegan coconut curry, braised tofu and kimchi. Our ramen arrives piping hot, filled with stir fried chicken chunks, bell peppers, and vegetables in a spicy miso broth. The dish is not overly fiery but has a pleasant, gentle heat. Our meal ends with the coconut palm jaggery pudding, described as a Japanese souffle. WIth all the familiar flavours of a traditional jaggery dessert, this rich, caramelised pudding is made with coconut milk, palm jaggery and egg yolk, and flavoured with cinnamon and lemongrass. A drizzle of caramel sauce completes the dish. With generous portions and a thoughtfully curated menu, You Mee offers well-executed Japanese elements alongside pan-Asian influences, as well as a tasty break from shopping. You Mee, Express Avenue Mall. 11am to 11pm. Cost for two: ₹1,500. For reservations, call 8329002213.

'Housefull 5' box office collection day 6 (LIVE): The multi-starrer movie has a decent beginning on Wednesday after crossing Rs 110 crore
After 'Housefull 5' had a good opening day number along with jump over the weekend, all eyes were on the weekday numbers which would play a crucial role in determining the film's fate. But it has managed to hold decently well on Monday and Tuesday. Of course, while a dip on Monday was expected, the film will manage to sail through if it manages to stick to a double digit number this whole week. Plus, there's also some growth expected on the second weekend. The film had an opening of Rs 24 crore on Day 1. On Saturday and Sunday, it minted Rs 31 crore and Rs 32.5 crore respectively. On Monday though, it saw a dip of around 60 percent, making Rs 13 crore. On Tursday, which is day 5, it again saw a drop but atleast remained in the two digit numbers. The early trend of Wednesday also looks similar to Tuesday. On Day 6, till the morning and afternoon shows, it has made Rs 2.35 crore. The total collection so far, in India, according to Sacnilk is Rs 114.1 crore. It should be able to make minimum Rs 10 crore on day 6 and remain the same on Thursday and Friday as well. The film being a multistarrer and shot on a cruise with some exquisite production values is mounted on a huge budget of over Rs 225 crore. Thus, it's very important for the movie to continue to hold up well. It was expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in four days which it has managed to do very well. The collection and trend for the film is much better than Salman Khan 's 'Sikandar'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ready-to-Move In 2/3 BHK @ ₹5400/Sqft Undo Just 10 min to Annanagar Undo Fully equipped with Modern amenities Undo However, the coming days and the upcoming weekend will be crucial. Aamir Khan 's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is releasing on June 20 and that may serve some competition to it. The number of screens for 'Housefull 2' may also reduce, which may lead to a dip in the numbers. But till then, the film has an open window to continue to perform well at the box office. However, the trade feels that had this one been a family entertainer, just like its previous parts, it would have done even better in some sectors. This time around, it has a bit of an adult comedy with an element of a thriller.
