ChatGPT To Soon Let You Buy Items Online Like Amazon? Here's What We Know
Last Updated:
OpenAI is offering search and AI image tools but shopping also seems to be high on its agenda with ChatGPT for its users.
ChatGPT lets you draft mails, generate Ghibli-style images that have caused OpenAI all sorts of problems, including the GPUs melting. But the AI chatbot is not done yet, and soon you could use it for shopping items online.
ChatGPT is reportedly in talks with Shopify for this integration which not only will give you the power to buy products within the AI chatbot but also give you detailed ideas and reviews about them from genuine customers.
OpenAI is already looking to make ChatGPT the ideal search hub, and moving into the e-commerce space not only furthers its reach but also makes it a rival for Amazon and other online shopping platforms. Shopify is known for its wide shopping network on the internet and reports say ChatGPT will allow the company to extend its support to more users and give more merchants the window to join the ecosystem.
Shop And Some
AI currently helps you with recommendations but the rumoured integration will list you the products based on the text prompts, or maybe even use the live camera sharing tool to enhance the experience. Shopping seems like a logical step up for AI models like ChatGPT and Meta AI among others.
Google is another tech giant that could tap into its own repository of merchants and get Gemini to do the heavy lifting with its available data. Having said that, there are all reports for now, and OpenAI has officially not shared any details about bringing shopping to ChatGPT but we might not have to wait very long to see it release.
OpenAI has introduced more AI image tools to not only save them but to edit and manage them in many ways. Yes, ChatGPT 4o users are getting a library to store their AI-generated images in a repository which is accessible at any time.
ChatGPT is slowly bringing more of its features to free users, and the image library will work if you have both paid and free versions of ChatGPT on the mobile and web version.

Why ChatGPT essays still fail to fool experts despite good structure, although they are clear and well structured
The advent of AI has marked the rise of many tools, and ChatGPT is one of the most popular ones. Often used for research and writing, this tool has often been the centre of discussion for its ability to fetch interesting content. However, A new study from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in the UK shows that essays written by real students are still better than those produced by ChatGPT, a popular AI writing tool. Researchers compared 145 essays written by university students with 145 essays generated by ChatGPT to see how well the AI can mimic human writing. The study found that although ChatGPT's essays are clear, well structured, and grammatically correct, they lack something important. The AI essays do not show personal insight or deep critical thinking, which are common in student writing. These missing elements make the AI-generated essays feel less engaging and less convincing. However, the researchers do not see AI only as a threat. They believe tools like ChatGPT can be helpful in education if used properly. Instead of shortcuts to finish assignments, AI should be a tool that supports learning and improves writing skills. After all, education is about teaching students how to think clearly and express ideas. These are things no AI can truly replace. One key difference the researchers looked at was how the writers engage readers. Real student essays often include questions, personal comments, and direct appeals to the reader. These techniques help make the writing feel more interactive and persuasive. On the other hand, ChatGPT's essays tend to avoid questions and personal opinions. They follow academic rules but do not show a clear viewpoint or emotional connection. Professor Ken Hyland from UEA explained that the AI focuses on creating text that is logical and smooth but misses conversational details that humans use to connect with readers. This shows that AI writing still struggles with capturing the personal style and strong arguments that real people naturally use.

Amazon freezes retail hiring budget for 2025 amid job cuts
Amazon is freezing its hiring budget for its retail business this year, according to a report by Business Insider. As per the report, an internal email revealed that the Seattle-based retailer plans to keep "flat headcount opex," or operating expense, this year compared to last. These costs include employee salaries and stock-based compensation. An Amazon executive shared earlier this year that any rise in the hiring budget will face close scrutiny and require strong justifications. The retail business is shifting its focus from headcount targets to managing teams based on fixed operating budgets. Amazon's retail division covers a wide range of operations, including its online store, logistics network, and fresh grocery service. These changes affect only corporate staff in Amazon's retail division, not warehouse workers or those in Amazon Web Services, the company's cloud division. An Amazon spokesperson told Business Insider that the company will continue hiring, and a freeze on increasing the hiring budget doesn't mean recruitment is stopping. "Each of Amazon's many businesses has its own approach to hiring based on its individual needs," said Hoffman. "However, across the company, we've historically considered both the number of people we need to hire and the associated costs — that is, operating expenses or opex — of those hiring decisions." This report immediately follows the job cut announcement in Amazon's books division, including at Goodreads and Kindle units. The company stated that fewer than 100 employees were impacted, and that the aim was to boost efficiency and streamline operations. The news aligns with CEO Andy Jassy's ongoing focus on improving profit margins and operational efficiency. He is also working to cut down on what he describes as excessive bureaucracy within the company, including reducing the number of managerial roles. Last month, Amazon also laid off workers in its devices and services division. However, it is to be noted that, despite these reductions, the company added approximately 4,000 jobs in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
