Yahoo28-05-2025
Dominic McLaughlin has joined the cast of the Harry Potter reboot as the series' titular protagonist, Harry Potter. The announcement has stirred curiosity about the young actor among fans of the books and movies. The Harry Potter series is one of the most anticipated projects by HBO, which is currently in development. Here is every detail fans need to know regarding Dominic McLaughlin and his age.
With Dominic McLaughlin's casting as Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO reboot series, fans are eager to know about his age.
However, information regarding the young actor's age is not available online. But fans need to note that McLaughlin's age likely falls between 9 to 11 years old, as HBO took auditions of actors who were in this age bracket to cast an actor for the role.
McLaughlin is all set to carry on the legacy of Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed the character of Harry Potter in the movies. Radcliffe was only 11 years old when he was cast as the leading character in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001. So, McLaughlin seemingly matches Radcliffe in terms of age when it comes to playing Harry Potter in an adaptation of the first book.
According to The Herald's report, McLaughlin is referred to as a newcomer in the industry. Apart from the Harry Potter series, the actor will appear in two more projects. First is the Sky comedy film Grow, in which he features alongside Nick Frost, who will play Rubeus Hagrid in the reboot series.
Additionally, McLaughlin is also starring in the adventure series by the BBC named Gifted. Gifted is set to come out by the end of 2025. The actor has also had stage acting experience and has worked in theater on William Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Emma Thompson Makes Honest Admission About Her Harry Potter Role

With a career that stretches back more than 40 years, everyone has a Dame Emma Thompson role they most associate her with. Many of us can't see her without getting a bit choked up thanks to her tear-jerking performance in the festive rom-com Love Actually, while for others, her signature role was in period dramas like Howard's End and Sense & Sensibility (both of which earned her Oscar wins, by the way). Then there are younger millennials who best remember her as Nanny McPhee, while more recently, she gave a chilling turn as the steely MP Vivienne Rook in Russell T Davies' dystopian Years And Years. And, of course, there are thousands around the globe to whom Dame Emma will always be best remembered for her performance as the eccentric and scatty divination professor Sybill Trelawney in the Harry Potter films. However, it seems that the woman herself doesn't quite hold that franchise as dear to her heart as some of her fans. During a recent Q&A at the Locarno film festival, Variety reported Dame Emma as saying of her stint in Harry Potter: 'I don't mean to be rude, but I came in, did the bit with glasses and hair, and left.' The two-time Oscar winner made her debut as Professor Trelawney in the third film, Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, reprising the role twice more in The Order Of The Phoenix and the final film, The Deathly Hallows, part two. Elsewhere in the conversation, Dame Emma also admitted she's surprised at the enduring appeal of Love Actually. 'I think [Dame Emma's character hit] a nerve because we, women, when we are experiencing heartbreak, sometimes we have to hide it,' she said. 'What moves you is not her crying, it's her covering it up, going downstairs and being cheerful.'

Bill Maher admits cancel culture fears — despite the cultural ‘vibe shift' after 2024 election

Liberal comedian Bill Maher admitted he fears getting canceled for the remarks he's made in private on Monday's episode of his 'Club Random' podcast. During a conversation about free speech with actress Drew Barrymore, Maher said it had become less 'dangerous' to speak out on controversial issues as there had been a cultural 'vibe shift' against woke-ism over the past two years. But he confessed he still feared that his everyday conversations in public could be used against him to end his career. 'We did have a vibe change because the Democrats lost so badly in 2024. The blush is off the rose on left-wing censorship and 'Oh my God, you can't say that.' Stop telling me what I can do. What I can say. What I can think. Who my heroes are supposed to be. Just get the f— off me. That is what's viscerally going on with me when I have issues with the left,' Maher said. Barrymore praised him for his boldness and asked him if there was anything that still 'scares' him. 'Oh, what scares me is… at any moment, you can like say something that, really in private conversation, wouldn't upset anybody. Yes. But these snitches and b—-es will be able to use it to attack and end you, which they did once on 'Politically Incorrect,'' he said. 4 Bill Maher admitted he fears getting canceled for the remarks he's made in private on Monday's episode of his 'Club Random' podcast. YouTube/Club Random Podcast 'When I go out… it's unlikely anything is going to happen that would end my career, but it is possible.'' Maher explained how he carried this 'paranoia' with him constantly. Although it wasn't as severe as other problems people face, he said it wasn't insignificant. 'I'm always… and now it's like a running joke because you know, 'Did anything bad happen?' Like that sort of paranoia. No. Is it as bad as things other people go through? No. But living with that paranoia is not nothing,' he lamented. 4 During a conversation Drew Barrymore, Maher said it had become less 'dangerous' to speak out on controversial issues as there had been a cultural 'vibe shift' against woke-ism over the past two years. It kind of sucks that you can't pull into the driveway without having a peaceable night at dinner without thinking, 'Did anything bad happen?'' The 'Real Time' host previously opened up about his worries about getting canceled in a 2023 CNN interview. 'It just makes me laugh when people say to me, 'You know, you're uncancellable.' Are you kidding? In two seconds, I could get canceled. Anybody could,' he told the news outlet. 4 The comedian's 'Real Time with Bill Maher' continues to air on HBO. FOX News Maher faced backlash for controversial remarks following 9/11, and ABC canceled 'Politically Incorrect' the following year amid declining advertiser support. Days after the terrorist attack, Maher insisted it was 'cowardly' for the U.S. to use cruise missiles overseas, while the terrorists who flew planes into the World Trade Center were 'not cowardly.' The liberal comedian faced intense backlash from viewers and advertisers at the time and ABC pulled the plug on his show the following year. In 2003, he launched 'Real Time with Bill Maher,' which continues to air on HBO.
