Samuel L Jackson reveals horror moment he was dragged by a subway train
Samuel L Jackson has recalled the terrifying moment he was convinced he was going to die after a freak accident on the subway.
In a candid new interview, the Pulp Fiction actor opened up about the moment he was 'dragged by a subway train' when he was younger, sharing that he never got the sensation of his life flashing before his eyes.
During an appearance on Paloma Faith's Mad Sad Bad podcast, the 76-year-old unpacked his ordeal, declaring: 'That whole thing about your life passing before you, it's like, 'Eh, not really,'. Everything does slow down, though.
'I got dragged by a subway train in New York in 1990. I got dragged by the A train. Fortunately, I was in the middle door of the last car, and it was a long-ass train station.
'When the door closed on my foot, train took off. I'm sitting there thinking, 'Oh, f**k, I'm going to die.'
'I could see the tunnel coming, and I couldn't figure out anything that I could grab or hold on to and get close to the train so I wouldn't get killed in the tunnel.
'It just slowed down really, really slow until all of a sudden the train stopped.'
Shedding light on his mindset during that moment, Samuel admitted that he was focused on the incident ruining Christmas for his loved ones – including wife LaTonya Richardson and their daughter, Zoe.
'When I was being dragged, all I could think of was, it was going to be a really sad Christmas, because it was like a few days before Christmas,' the Marvel legend continued.
'So I was going to miss my birthday and all that. I was like, 'Damn, it's going to be f**ked up. It's going to be a f**ked up Christmas this year.''
The Django Unchained star was heavily injured in the accident, and tore his ACL and meniscus – he was in physical therapy for over a year and spent 10 months on crutches.
He later took legal action and sued the transit system, and was eventually awarded $540k. More Trending
It was only when he got to court for a hearing that he learned what happened that day, and that a man rushed to action and saved his life.
'I was a car-and-a-half from the tunnel when it stopped,' he added to Paloma. 'The guy who pulled the emergency cord was on crutches.
'Everybody else in there was trying to open the door, get my foot out the door, push and push and pull and try and take my shoe off. And he was going to the emergency cord, and he finally pulled it and stopped it.
'Things slow down when you're looking at death. I've been in car accidents and if I see them, it's almost like everything is slowing down and you know there's nothing you can do to get out of the way.'

Neil Patrick Harris is Deadpool in new Marvel VR game
Wade Wilson has a new voice (Marvel/Meta) Marvel has announced a new VR game centred around Deadpool, from the studio behind 'Splosion Man and Comic Jumper. There are a huge number of Marvel games in development at the moment, including Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra and a new fighting game from Arc System Works, but now another has been added to the pile at Summer Game Fest. Surprisingly, it's a VR game starring quippy anti-hero Deadpool, created by Twisted Pixel ('Splosion Man) and Oculus Studios in collaboration with Marvel Games. Even more surprisingly, Deadpool has a brand new voice, in Neil Patrick Harris, best known for starring in How I Met Your Mother, Netflix's A Series Of Unfortunate Events, and Doogie Howser, M.D. Marvel's Deadpool VR features a new original story, where the superhero is pulled into a portal to Mojoworld. After he signs a dodgy contract without reading the fine print, he's sent off to visit a bunch of locations from across the Marvel universe, facing villains both iconic and, as noted by the developers, 'not-so-iconic'. The gameplay blends parkour and combat, with a style described as 'if you can imagine it, you can probably do it'. Based on the trailer, you can shoot, throw your gun, wield enemies in a grappling beam, shove people against propellers, and skewer heads with your swords. As you'd expect from Deadpool, it's all appropriately meta, with one nod levelled at a certain web-slinger on PlayStation: 'Spider-Man gets Insomniac, and I get this sh*t?' If you're a fan of Deadpool, this seems to be hitting all the right notes and Harris seems like a perfect fit for the character. We'll have to see though, if it can match the heights of fellow superhero VR title, Batman: Arkham Shadow. While Twisted Pixel were originally known for games like 'Splosion Man and Comic Jumper on the Xbox 360, in recent years the studio has created VR titles. The combat in Deadpool appears to be an evolution of their last action game, 2019's Path Of The Warrior. Marvel's Deadpool VR is slated to release late 2025 and is exclusive to Meta Quest 3 and 3S. If you fancy more Marvel games, Insomniac is working on a Wolverine project, an Iron Man game is in development at EA, and a throwback beat 'em up titled Marvel Cosmic Invasion is set to launch this year. Romeo Beckham looks glum at French Open after splitting from girlfriend
Romeo Beckham was snapped looking rather blue at the French Open, days after his split from his girlfriend was revealed. Romeo, 22, was one of the celebrities in attendance a the semi-final match between Italy's Lorenzo Musetti and Spain's Carlos Alcaraz at Roland Garros, in Paris. Dressed in a navy suit and black t-shirt, the Romeo was dressed in dark colours with simple jewellery. The second eldest of the Beckham children looked blank and somewhat downcast in some of the images taken at the game. This appearance took place just days after it was announced that he and his girlfriend, Kim Turnball, had split after seven months together Friends said things 'fizzled out' between Romeo, 22, and Kim, 26, in what's been an 'amicable' split that has 'nothing to do' with the Beckham rift after her name was drawn into the drama. A friend of the pair told the Mail: 'Romeo and Kim are both young and they had a lovely time together but at that age things don't always last forever and they decided to split up. 'They have been friendly since and have even been at the same venues. It's a huge shame, particularly as David and Victoria really adored her and thought she made Romeo happy but it wasn't to be. 'It happened a couple of weeks ago and relations have remained friendly between them.' The split took place amid reports of a family feud between the Beckham family and eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, 26. It was rumoured that Brooklyn dated Kim before his Romeo in 2016, causing a rift between the pair. More Trending However, Cruz Beckham, 20, weighed in on the rumours in a now-deleted social media comment, in which he clarified: 'Brooklyn and Kim never dated.' TMZ claimed that Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, questioned if Kim had the right intentions in dating Romeo. They also added that sources informed them that going forward, Brooklyn and his wife will no longer attend family events where Kim will be present. Got a story?
