Steelers Defender Fires Off Bold Threat to Browns

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. The two AFC North teams always bring a little extra to the field when they play each other. During the 2025 NFL offseason, there was one player who made a switch in the rivalry. Juan Thornhill, the former safety for the Browns, decided to take his talents to the Steelers. He will now face off against his old team twice this season. It's clear that he's ready to play against and ideally beat Cleveland. "They've definitely got to see me two times a year," Thornhill said. "I'm excited about that opportunity." Read more: Aaron Rodgers Reveals What Really Happened With Steelers Talks Thornhill's tenure with the Browns did not end on great terms. He dealt with some injury issues that cost him time on the field, which led to Cleveland releasing him with one year remaining on his deal. Throughout his tenure, there were many different rumblings about the two sides parting ways. Of course, prior to Thornhill's two-year tenure with the Browns, he was a key part of the Kansas City Chiefs. He won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs and will look to add another ring to his collection with Pittsburgh. He has played in 87 career games so far in his six years in the NFL. In those 87 games, he has racked up 337 total tackles to go along with a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, eight interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 24 defended passes. More than likely, Thornhill will be a backup behind Minkah Fitzpatrick with the Steelers. He may not be a "starter," but there is a good chance that he will fill some kind of role for the Pittsburgh defense. Hopefully, the 29-year-old defensive back will be able to get his career on track and stay healthy with the Steelers. He's clearly fired up to play against his old team, which will help bring even more of a chip to the field in the rivalry. Chiefs Star Travis Kelce Has Made Huge Physical Change

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Kansas City Chiefs and star tight end Travis Kelce are back together for at least one more season. Despite offseason retirement rumors, Kelce has decided to run it back for the 2025 season, and his future is not decided after the upcoming campaign. After coming up short in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce wants to make another run. Entering the upcoming season, he's doing everything he can to get back to playing at an elite level after a down year in 2024. Kelce has made a major change ahead of the 2025 season. Photo byAs shared by ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Chiefs' tight end has made a major change to his physical appearance. He has slimmed down considerably. Read more: Vikings QB JJ McCarthy Called Out in Brutally Honest Breakdown Fowler revealed the update on Kelce during an appearance on "SportsCenter." "The Chiefs knew that Kelce was going to be gone this week," Fowler said. "He's expected back for minicamp. He'll address the media, be on the practice field—all that fun stuff. And he will debut a bit of a slimmer look. He's told people close to him that he's lost about 25 pounds this offseason." Working his way into better shape could be exactly what Kelce needs to get back on track. His numbers last season were solid, but not great. Speaking of his 2024 season, Kelce played in 16 games. He caught 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns. Again, there's nothing to be upset about from those numbers, but Kelce has produced a lot more than that throughout his career. He's looking to take every step he can to lead Kansas City back to the Super Bowl and to take the next step to add another ring. Read more: Aaron Rodgers Reveals What Really Happened With Steelers Talks Back in March, Kelce spoke out about his performance last season. He wasn't very proud of the year he put together. Kelce believes he can still play at a very high level and make a major impact. "I still feel like I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year," Kelce said. "I don't think it was my best outing, you know? I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I've been in years past. You know, I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth about how I ended the year and how well I was playing, and how accountable I was for the people around me." It will be interesting to see what the 2025 season has in store for Kelce and the Chiefs. He's working hard to increase his individual performance, and dropping 25 pounds could help him become a much more dynamic weapon for Patrick Mahomes. NFL analyst outlines unlikely scenario where Bill Belichick lands with Giants

NFL analyst outlines unlikely scenario where Bill Belichick lands with Giants There was a time when the New York Giants would have considered finally hiring Bill Belichick to be their head coach. Many close to the team don't ever see this coming to fruition, although crazier things have happened. That hasn't precluded figures in the national football media from continuing to connect Belichick to the Giants, where he won two Super Bowls as Bill Parcells' defensive coordinator nearly four decades ago. Belichick is set to coach the University of North Carolina Tar Heels this season, but the gig could end up being short-lived for several reasons. That would put a 74-year-old Belichick back on the NFL coaching carousel next spring, a ride that has not been kind to him since he left the New England Patriots after the 2023 season. From Joel Klatt of FOX Sports: Let's be honest, Belichick isn't going to feel a lot of pressure at UNC. If this doesn't go his way, he's not going to lose a lot of sleep over this. Rather, the pressure is on the fan base. You can tell that the fan base is invested in this in a way that's similar to Colorado and Deion Sanders. They hired possibly the best coach in NFL history, so maybe they're just happy he's in Chapel Hill. That's why the pressure doesn't ratchet up in UNC's schedule. It ratchets in the New York Giants' schedule, or another NFL team that could be a potential suitor for Belichick. Belichick can certainly pay the $1 million to get out of his contract, and if he has the opportunity to coach the Giants (who he has a history with) or another NFL team, he could opt to go that route. So, I think the pressure point date here is Dec. 1, when the Giants take on the New England Patriots right before their bye week. If New York is 2-11 entering that game and loses, do you think Brian Daboll is getting fired right after? I think he could. That's also right when the college football regular season ends. The Giants wouldn't be able to name their next head coach right after, but Belichick could have an inkling on whether he could become their next head coach around that date. That's a bit of a dot-connecting exercise by Klatt. He could end up being closer than we think, though. The Giants are up against the NFL's toughest schedule, but they are better this year, too, so that could be a wash. With more experience at quarterback and more depth overall up and down their roster, the Giants could be closer to a .500 team in 2024. That won't prompt a change in the coaching ranks, but if it does, Belichick isn't likely to be on the top of their shortlist for the job.
