The Kansas City Chiefs and star tight end Travis Kelce are back together for at least one more season. Despite offseason retirement rumors, Kelce has decided to run it back for the 2025 season, and his future is not decided after the upcoming campaign.
After coming up short in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce wants to make another run. Entering the upcoming season, he's doing everything he can to get back to playing at an elite level after a down year in 2024.
Kelce has made a major change ahead of the 2025 season.

Fowler revealed the update on Kelce during an appearance on "SportsCenter."
"The Chiefs knew that Kelce was going to be gone this week," Fowler said. "He's expected back for minicamp. He'll address the media, be on the practice field—all that fun stuff. And he will debut a bit of a slimmer look. He's told people close to him that he's lost about 25 pounds this offseason."
Working his way into better shape could be exactly what Kelce needs to get back on track. His numbers last season were solid, but not great.
Speaking of his 2024 season, Kelce played in 16 games. He caught 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns.
Again, there's nothing to be upset about from those numbers, but Kelce has produced a lot more than that throughout his career. He's looking to take every step he can to lead Kansas City back to the Super Bowl and to take the next step to add another ring.

Back in March, Kelce spoke out about his performance last season. He wasn't very proud of the year he put together. Kelce believes he can still play at a very high level and make a major impact.
"I still feel like I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year," Kelce said. "I don't think it was my best outing, you know? I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I've been in years past. You know, I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth about how I ended the year and how well I was playing, and how accountable I was for the people around me."
It will be interesting to see what the 2025 season has in store for Kelce and the Chiefs. He's working hard to increase his individual performance, and dropping 25 pounds could help him become a much more dynamic weapon for Patrick Mahomes.

The Cincinnati Bengals offseason has devolved into a mess on the defensive side as holdouts from Trey Hendrickson and Shemar Stewart have created uncertainty for the team's outlook in 2025. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Few teams have such polarizing situations on the offensive and defensive sides than the Cincinnati Bengals. Offensively the Bengals can compete with any team in the league. Advertisement Defensively, however, they struggled mightily last season and their offseason operations currently have two of their most important players out of action. Both Trey Hendrickson and rookie Shemar Stewart are not with the team currently, standing firm on their own holdouts. Hendrickson's case is the more serious of the two with a nasty public back-and-forth between himself and the team. This leaves a growing level of uncertainty heading into next season with plenty of concern for Al Golden in his first year running this defense. Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport has since labeled the Bengals as one of the "losers" from OTAs. "The Cincinnati Bengals had one of the NFL's most explosive offenses last year. But the team missed the playoffs, largely because of a leaky defense that ranked 25th in the NFL." Advertisement While the contract theater plays out on the side, the Bengals are still roughly where they left off last season. Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the rest of the offense should be brilliant again though they risk a lackluster defense weighing them down. "The Bengals will move the ball in 2025. They will score points. But they won't go anywhere if the defense is dreadful again... And improving isn't going to be easy if the Bengals can't rush the passer." The worst part? There's no visible path to a resolution either specifically in the case with Hendrickson. He is not the only player holding out in pursuit of a contract extension. But the frustrations from the player's side have gone more public than most disputes in recent seasons. When this happens, there are now inevitable distractions that have followed. Advertisement The Bengals have a little over a month until training camp so there is some time to make progress on both fronts though they have their work cut out to reach any turning point. Bengals Must Stop 'Distracting' From Contending

Bengals Must Stop 'Distracting' From Contending originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cincinnati Bengals are making themselves look silly right now. No, not the players or coaches. Ownership. In a summer that should bring excitement for the fanbase, we're instead talking and writing about contract disputes and holdouts. Advertisement Why? Money. And it's a bad look for the franchise, and ultimately, the league. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin hit the nail on the head when he wrote, "It's money. It always is in Cincinnati." "The grass is green. The sun is bright. What else marks summer in the NFL? Oh, that's right, the Cincinnati Bengals refusing to spend money," Benjamin wrote. "Now we're talking. Mandatory minicamps are wrapping up around the league, and the headlining discussion about the Bengals isn't Joe Burrow coming off an NFL-leading 43-touchdown season. It's not Ja'Marr Chase coming off an NFL-leading 1,708-yard receiving season. Or Al Golden taking over the defense. Or Cincinnati's chances of outlasting the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs in the hunt for AFC glory. "It's money. It always is in Cincinnati. And not for the right reasons." Advertisement It seems like the Bengals go halfway and then stop short of the ultimate roster goal. They paid two stars and kept Joe Burrow happy. But on the other side of the ball, they're making up for it by being overly frugal. And Benjamin thinks it's taking away from what should be a summer to celebrate accomplishments. "This should've been the offseason of celebration for Bengals brass. After all, the front office finally paid Chase and Tee Higgins, investing in Burrow's top playmakers with not only words but actions. This was the Bengals' big pivot, from reluctant spenders to willing championship hunters! Except, months later, we're right back to square one with a notoriously -- dare we say dangerously -- frugal organization." Bengals Center Ted Karras Has No Regrets

Bengals Center Ted Karras Has No Regrets originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Two of the players that have had the most buzz surrounding them this offseason are Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson and Shemar Stewart. Advertisement Both guys have not yet signed with the team for a few different reasons, and there has been a bit of a feeling of hostility as a result. But in a recent interview, Bengals center Ted Karras said that there is no bad blood in the locker room. "The main thing I want to say is, I don't think, to either of our defensive ends, that there's any harboring resentment in this locker room to them, and I really hope that both camps can figure this out because we have a really good team," Karras said. "We've had a super productive spring, and you just don't want this to carry over into summer." Hendrickson and the Bengals have not been able to agree on a new contract, so it seems likely that the star edge rusher will likely be playing elsewhere in 2025. Which is too bad, because he led the NFL in sacks this past season, which any team would love to have. As for Stewart, he remains the only player from the 2025 NFL Draft that has not yet been signed to his rookie deal. The team would love to get that done, as it would help them with depth off the edge, especially if Hendrickson leaves. Advertisement Cincinnati allowed the eighth-most yards in the league this past season, so they could use all the help they can get on the defensive side of the ball.
