The Los Angeles Angels (49-51) and New York Mets (57-44) play the second game of their 3-game series Tuesday. Season series: Mets lead 1-0
The Mets topped the Angels 7-5 Monday night, cashing as a -165 home favorite with the Over (8.5) hitting. Despite recording just 6 hits, New York made them count. 3B Brett Baty delivered the big blow with a 2-run homer, while RF Juan Soto added a 2-run single.
Angels SP Tyler Anderson was not sharp in the loss (6 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 5 BB, 4 K, HR). LF Taylor Ward went 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs and a run scored. C Logan O'Hoppe added a solo home run and a stolen base and 2B Luis Rengifo chipped in with a 3-hit performance.

Angels at Mets picks and predictions
Mets 8, Angels 3
Moneyline
PASS.
I've got the Mets winning the second game of this series on Tuesday, but I'll take the better odds on the run line.
Run line/Against the spread
BET METS -1.5 (+115).
There are plenty of reasons to back the Mets on Tuesday night. They've been dominant at Citi Field this season, boasting a 35-16 home record—second only to the Blue Jays (36 wins). That success is driven by elite pitching; the Mets hold a 3.59 ERA at home, fourth-best in MLB, and opponents are batting just .237 at Citi.
SS Francisco Lindor thrives in front of the home crowd, batting .295 with 12 of his 19 home runs coming there. On the mound, Montas makes just his fifth start of the season, but he knows this Angels lineup well from his years with the A's. He looked sharp in his last outing, a road win in Kansas City.
On the flip side, there's little to fear with Hendricks. He's a serviceable veteran, but his stuff isn't overpowering, and he's been inconsistent all season. This sets up perfectly for New York to take care of business. Expect the Mets to roll again Tuesday night.
Over/Under
BET OVER 9 (-120).
The Over is a strong play Tuesday with the Angels involved. They've gone Over in 10 of their last 11 games, thanks to poor pitching—especially on the road, where they carry a 4.73 ERA. With Hendricks on the mound, expect the Mets to do most of the scoring themselves and push this total past the number.
