Kuldeep Yadav not bothered about England's ‘Bazball', ready to take up challenge: ‘One has to be alert'
Kuldeep is set to return to the Test format for India for the first time since the home series against New Zealand last October. He missed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to injury but found his groove in the recently concluded Indian Premier League while featuring for Delhi Capitals.
Fans and former cricketers have termed the left-arm wrist spinner's inclusion an 'X factor'. Such a tag often culminates in pressure, but that is not the case for Kuldeep, who is aware of England's style of play.
"No, I do not feel any pressure as I feel it is not something that one should take pressure for. I think if one gets a good opportunity and gives their best, then it is a done job there. I have played against England last year, and have an idea about their playing style. The only thing is that one has to be very alert all the time and stay focused," Kuldeep said while speaking to Boria Majumdar on Revsportz.
Kuldeep mapped out England's aggressive approach, which doesn't allow a bowler to be defensive. During England's tour of India last year, Kuldeep left the touring party bamboozled and scalped 19 wickets at 20.16.
"Unlike other teams, with the England team, one cannot relax and play defensive. England bat in a very aggressive manner, so one has to very much be in the game and plan your overs accordingly. I learnt a lot about fielding playing that England series, so I hope to apply those learnings this time in England. And most importantly, enjoy my bowling, as that is what gets you wickets," he said.
He made his sole appearance in England at the iconic Lord's and went wicketless in his nine-over spell as India succumbed to a heavy defeat by an innings and 159 runs. Since then, Kuldeep has upped his game to a new level and unlocked one aspect that could be the key behind adding names to his wicket-taking column.
"When I played in 2018 [at Lord's] with the Dukes, I personally experienced that Dukes are a bit hard and drift more. So, as a spinner, if one can control that, then it can be challenging for the batsmen. Because it is hard, it bounces more, and the spin is very sharp if one gets a spin-friendly track," he said.
"It's a bit like the SG ball, and the seam is protruding. Kookaburra, on the other hand, is very different and gives spinners a very good grip due to its rounded nature. I like it personally. But overall, it takes adjustment and time spent with the ball to get used to it," he added.

Dilip Vengsarkar Blasts Ajit Agarkar, Drags Mumbai Indians In Jasprit Bumrah Workload Debate
India's marquee Jasprit Bumrah only featured in three of the five Tests against England due to 'workload management', with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) deciding to do so in order to keep him fit for the forthcoming assignments. Though India went on to draw the series 2-2, winning only those two matches that Bumrah wasn't a part of, Indian cricket great Dilip Vengsarkar feels the team could've used the pacer to his full potential had he given the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign a miss instead. As players' workload gets managed by the BCCI on the international stage, none of Indian cricket's superstars are seen missing IPL campaigns for their franchises. Vengsarkar feels if he was the chief selector, he would've convinced the Mumbai Indians to let Bumrah miss a few games or the entire season, before the England tour. "Considering the importance of the India versus England Tests series and his fragile back, Bumrah should have been told by the BCCI, selectors and the Indian team management to miss IPL-2025. It was very important that we had a fully fit and refreshed Bumrah for this iconic series," Vengsarkar told Times of India. "If I was the India chief selector, I would have convinced Mukesh Ambani (Mumbai Indians owner) and Bumrah that it was important for Bumrah to miss the IPL for the England series, or play a lesser number of matches in the IPL. I'm sure that they would have agreed to do so," he added. Vengsarkar shed light on the importance of performing in big Test assignments like the recently-concluded England tour. Citing Mohammed Siraj 's example, Vengsarkar said that Bumrah's wickets in the IPL won't be remembered as much as the performance of those who shone on the England tour. "Who remembers the runs and wickets taken in the IPL? However, people will remember Mohammed Siraj's lion-hearted performance in this series, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant 's sublime batting, and Washington Sundar 's superb all-round performance," said Vengsarkar. "It was a series for the ages and I wish Bumrah was available for almost all the Tests. We could have won the series if that was the case," said Vengsarkar. "You can't blame Bumrah for missing matches at times. We must remember that Bumrah has undergone back surgery. His back is vulnerable, and we must be cautious with him. You can't question his commitment for the country. He has given his all whenever he has played for India. I hope he returns for India after adequate rest and when fully fit," he added.

'If Gavaskar, Tendulkar thought…': Sarfaraz Khan pulls off unique move to grab Agarkar's attention, make India comeback
Despite losing 17 kilos, Sarfaraz Khan did not find a place in India's Test squad for the tour of England. This was after he had travelled to Australia last year for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Since making his Test debut for India last year, Sarfaraz's numbers are fairly decent – 371 runs from six matches at an average of 37.10, including one century. Still, the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee deemed him unworthy to slot him in the 15 for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The rejection, however, has not fazed Sarfaraz. After scoring a brilliant 92 for India A against India Lions in May, the 27-year-old has decided to pull off something very unorthodox by participating in the Kanga League, something that not many international cricketers from Mumbai have done in the recent past. In fact, so determined was Sarfaraz that he reached the ground half an hour early to ensure he was ahead of the competition. "During my childhood, I heard a lot of stories from my father [coach Naushad Khan] about how Sunil Gavaskar sir once turned up for a Kanga League match despite returning from England the same morning. So, Musheer [younger brother] and I have always taken pride in playing this tournament. While returning from Nagpur last evening [Saturday], we were hoping it wouldn't rain today. It rained a bit this morning, but when I reached Islam Gymkhana, the weather was good. I played my last Kanga League match three years ago. I was going through the league fixture book before this game and saw my name in it for scoring a century in 2018 and it felt nice,' Sarfaraz told Mid-day. Sarfaraz Khan takes inspiration from Mumbai greats It's been close to a year now since Sarfaraz last played for India. After scoring 150 against New Zealand in Bengaluru last October, Sarfaraz played just two more Tests before he was dropped from the Playing XI. His road back to the Test team won't be easy, given the long queue of youngsters knocking on the door, but with India's next two Test assignments being at home against West Indies and South Africa, there is scope after all. Emphasising the importance of the tournament, Sarfaraz insists more Mumbai players should turn up for the Kanga League. "All Mumbai players should play [Kanga League]. Some players feel that if they fail here, it'll be bad for their future. But if Gavaskar sir and Sachin Tendulkar sir thought the same way, they might not have gone on to become legends. If big players play in this tournament, it will be an inspiration for the city's youngsters. Kanga League is such a tournament that if you succeed here, you can score runs anywhere in the world," he pointed out.
