R Madhavan On Lack Of Good Romantic Films These Days: ‘No One Does It Like SRK'
Last Updated:
The actor expressed his disappointment over the lack of good love stories featuring older men and women, whom he believes are 'the most romantic people.'
R Madhavan did not mince his words when sharing his thoughts about the dearth of good romantic movies in Hindi cinema these days. The actor, who is set to return to the genre with a classic love story, Aap Jaisa Koi, recently spoke about why romantic films today are no longer as impactful. He also discussed why Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan remains the king of on-screen romance.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Madhavan cited Hollywood's As Good As It Gets as an example and expressed his disappointment over the lack of good love stories featuring older men and women, whom he believes are 'the most romantic people.' He explained that he chose to do Aap Jaisa Koi, a romantic film, rather than an action or thriller movie because Indian cinema has failed to produce compelling and mature love stories.
He said, 'I don't recall any rom-com that has worked on OTT platforms either. I know Korean (dramas) work, but I don't recall seeing any hardcore, Indian, romantic films. Let alone one that is age-appropriate for a 55-year-old." According to Madhavan, people of his generation have lived through enough to appreciate the value of love and relationships truly. 'It's low-hanging fruit to be plucked in this genre, but we don't have writers. Writers who can see films like As Good as It Gets (1997) as romantic stories. I can't forget those dialogues," the actor stated.
Furthermore, Madhavan dismissed the notion that love stories no longer appeal to the audience or sell well. The 54-year-old actor insisted that if love stories are well-written, they are bound to impress the audience. Pointing to Hindi cinema's King of Romance, he said, 'Don't blame the money. Get us a story, no? One that is well-researched. No one does romance like Shah Rukh," adding, 'But one needs a heroine of his age as well. That's getting difficult to find."
R Madhavan, who made his Hindi film debut with the classic romantic film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, starring Dia Mirza, is soon to be seen in the love story Aap Jaisa Koi opposite Fatima Sana Shaikh. Directed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment, the film revolves around two unique individuals who embark on a journey of unexpected twists and heartfelt moments.

Karan Johar Reportedly Gets A Face Insurance; What Does It Really Mean?
Last Updated: Karan Johar has reportedly insured his face, inspired by a friend. Find out what does a face insurance really mean. Karan Johar has reportedly insured his face. Well, the filmmaker-producer has yet to confirm the development, but a viral Reddit post claimed so. Insurance of one's face or other bodily assets is becoming a popular trend. But what exactly does face insurance mean? Let's find out. What does face insurance mean? For actors, models, and high-profile influencers, appearance is more than just aesthetics – it's a crucial part of their brand and a main source of income. In these cases, the face becomes an asset worth protecting, and insurance companies are now offering specialised policies. Face insurance generally covers injuries, disfigurement, and other facial damages –whether from accidents, botched cosmetic procedures, or unexpected health issues – that could impair a celebrity's ability to work. This financial protection compensates for potential loss of earnings and, in some instances, medical expenses. Celebrities find it a logical progression for those whose careers heavily depend on their appearance. If an actor or model loses a significant endorsement due to facial damage, the financial impact can be substantial. Insurance also provides peace of mind and is often required by studios or brands. While the practice may seem extreme to some, it is similar to other forms of body-part insurance already popular among celebrities – from singers insuring their vocal cords to athletes covering their legs or hands. What is the rumour about Karan Johar's face insurance? A recent viral Reddit post claims KJo recently insured his face. The post recently caught everyone's attention by stating that KJo flew to South Korea to get his face insured. Reportedly, the filmmaker was 'inspired' by a close friend from the South film industry to take this step. 'Rumour has it Karan Johar secretly flew to South Korea multiple times to get… his face insured. Yup, inspired by a close friend, and apparently it's a trend there. Insiders say he's been way more chill since—smiling more, less snappy, even gave a rare compliment at work. No word from him yet, but now we're all wondering: does this cover acne, sunburns, wrinkles? And how much is that premium?!" the post read. Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, John Abraham have insured their assets Karan Johar is not the first Indian celebrity to insure a body part. Amitabh Bachchan has his voice insured, and it is said that John Abraham has insured his buttocks. Hollywood celebs, too, have spent exorbitant amounts to insure their precious assets. Jennifer Lopez have reportedly insured her curves for a reported $27 million, while Mariah Carey insured her legs and vocal cords for an astonishing $70 million. David Beckham, renowned for his football skills and marketability, insured his legs for about $70 million during his career. Supermodel Heidi Klum insured her legs, with one leg reportedly valued higher due to a scar on the other. First Published:
