‘The best song to have sex to? Anything by Marvin Gaye. Nothing by Rick Astley': Rick Astley's honest playlist

The first song I fell in love with
I've got two older brothers and an older sister. My sister played the grooves out of Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell. When I got my chance, I'd put on I Wan'na Be like You from The Jungle Book.
The song I do at karaoke
Tale As Old As Time from the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack, even though it's a duet. My daughter Emilie is 33, but when she's home, we'll watch a Disney film together. She turns into a five-year-old, I turn into a young dad and it's just lovely.
The first single I bought
I was 10 and went into this clothes shop in Ashton called Slaters that sold school uniforms, because my dad had given me money to buy a pair of jeans. They had a little record booth and said I could choose a free single. I was intimidated by the older kids, so said: 'I'll have whatever's No 1,' which just happened to be an incredible record: I Feel Love by Donna Summer.
The song I inexplicably know every lyric to
Certainly not my own! Never Gonna Give You Up has become ingrained to the point it's ridiculous. But there have been moments where I've stepped out of my own body.
The best song to play at a party
Absolutely everybody will dance to Dancing Queen by Abba if you play it at the right moment, from small kids, teenagers, people in their 20s right the way through to the grannies and granddads.
The song that make me cry
Ridley Scott uses Vide Cor Meum by Patrick Cassidy, which is inspired by Dante's La Vita Nuova, in Kingdom of Heaven. When the king dies, I have to hold it together not to cry.
The song I can no longer listen to
I Should Be So Lucky by Kylie Minogue, because apparently when you slow it down to 33rpm, it sounds like me. Even I nearly believed it was me when I first heard it. To clarify: I definitely did not sing the Kylie version of I Should Be So Lucky.
The song that changed my life
I play drums in a midlife crisis rock band, the Luddites. We do everything from the Sex Pistols to the Clash and Blink 182. Times Like These by Foo Fighters is a favourite. Performing Never Going to Give you up with Foo Fighters was definitely a euphoric moment.

The song that gets me up in the morning
I like to go for a long walk in the morning, and I'm a big Biffy Clyro fan. I'll put on the Only Revolutions album, and by the time it gets to Bubbles, I'll be really powering.
The best song to have sex to
Anything by Marvin Gaye. Nothing by Rick Astley.
The song I want played in my funeral
I should say There Is a Light That Never Goes out by the Smiths because I got to sing it with Blossoms when we did our Smiths set at Glastonbury. But I don't want to be the one responsible for the picking.
Rick Astley plays Henley festival on Friday.

Queen delights racegoers but has hopes of winning dashed at York Racecourse

The Queen delighted racegoers but saw her hopes of a win dashed as she attended the second day of the Sky Bet Ebor Festival at York Racecourse. Camilla watched as three of her horses were beaten on Ladies Day at the North Yorkshire venue. The Queen was applauded by racegoers as she arrived at the racecourse wearing a multicoloured floral dress by Fiona Clare, a blue coat by Anna Valentine with a horseshoe brooch, and a cream Philip Treacy hat. She was greeted by Vice Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire Chris Legard, the chairman of York Race Committee, Bridget Guerin, and the chief executive of York Racecourse William Derby. Camilla watched from a box as the RAF Falcons display team performed a parachute display, before taking a salute and hearing a rendition of the national anthem by Emily Guerin. After the first race the Queen unveiled a plaque in recognition of the Juddmonte International race, which took place at York Racecourse last year and was named by the Longines World Racing Awards as the world's best race of 2024. She then met racecourse staff and representatives from local charities supported by the track, including the headteacher of Clifton Green Primary School, food support charity the Collective Sharehouse, and walking buddy project Move The Masses. Camilla was presented with a jar of honey by Selina and Harry Silk of Knavesmire Nectar, whose bees are based at the racecourse. The couple said they bonded with the Queen, who also has her own hives, over the 'troubles of beekeeping'. Mr Silk said: 'We talked about the troubles she'd had this year with swarming and wasps. I think everyone's had the same problems this year.' The Queen also presented the trophy to the owners of Minnie Hauk, the winner of the Yorkshire Oaks race. But her hopes of a winner were dashed when three of her horses – Rainbows Edge, Aeolian and Purple Rainbow – were beaten. The late Queen Elizabeth II was a passionate owner and breeder of thoroughbreds and had more than 20 Royal Ascot winners during her 70-year reign. Charles and Camilla have taken on her stable of horses and enjoyed their first Royal Ascot winner in 2023 when their horse Desert Hero triumphed in the King George V Stakes.

Massive US rock legends drop ‘clue' they're playing secret Reading and Leeds set after fans spotted gaps in line up

Fans of The Foo Fighters have been sent into a frenzy after noticing gaps in the Reading and Leeds Festival lineup poster. They believe there's a chance that the popular band could be planning a surprise appearance after noticing the festival lineup looked more sparse than in previous years. 4 4 Many keen Instagrammers believe this theory has been backed up by the band themselves, who made a throwback post this week to 2019 when they last performed at the much-loved event. "Reading Festival 2019," The Foo Fighters ' caption simply read on a video of the band performing their set six years ago. "For those of you with access to the @bbciplayer, the full 2019 Reading set is up now at the link in bio." Speculation began to snowball on the Leeds Festival Community Reddit page, with fans sharing their thoughts on the seemingly out-of-the-blue nostalgia. "OK I know this is a long shot,' one commenter began. "But foos just posted a R&L video throwback from 2019 on Instagram. Anyone else think this may be a hint of a secret/surprise set this year? "If so, do you think it will be at Reading? Or Leeds? Or both?" Though others in the group seemed less certain about the likelihood of The Foo Fighters making an appearance. "Very much confident about them not being there this year. It's been years since an absolutely huge headline band did a secret set," said one. "Less than zero chance," agreed another. Though even if The Foo Fighters are a no-show, fans are also beginning to wonder whether two other massive bands are lined up for secret sets at the festival. Reading and Leeds Festival 2025, sponsored by Rockstar Energy, is set to span over this Friday to Sunday. It's going to feature all kinds of star-studded names including Chappell Roan, Hozier, Travis Scott, and Bring Me The Horizon. The Foo Fighters have previously played at The Reading and Leeds Festival many times, including in 1995, 1998 and 2000. They headlined for the first time back in 2002, and then again in 2005, 2012, and 2019. 4 4

I was phased out from TOWIE after producer asked me to sleep with Mark Wright - these are the dirty tricks meddling bosses use for maximum drama on screen

Known for its scandal and drama, The Only Way Is Essex burst onto British small screens 15 years ago as a front runner in reality TV. But a new bombshell claim from a former star could cast doubt on its authenticity. Many of the stars from the first series stayed with the show or years, but recently a super fan asked about the whereabouts of two bar tenders who vanished from the show after its debut season. One of those was Sugar Hut barmaid Candy, who resurfaced on social media as a result of the fan's call out TikTok video - seen by The Sun. However Candy's appearance came with a shocking claim, as she reportedly explained why she and her fellow pint puller Michael did not return for season two. 'The producers told us that unless I slept with MW [suggesting Mark Wright] and Mikey fake a romance with HD [suggesting Harry Derbridge], they would find it hard to place us,' she sensationally claimed. 'We didn't want to discredit ourselves by faking storylines, so, they phased us out.' Candy replied to the episode claiming what was real about the show and what was fake. She revealed that she and Michael are still friends but they never worked at Sugar Hut. Of her decision to walk away, she said: 'Some would say [it was] stupid. We say honourable, no hate though. We have happy lives, not everyone wants to be famous.' In response to her claim, a spokesperson for ITV told Daily Mail: 'TOWIE has always followed real people and their real lives, and we're grateful to the cast for sharing their lives and their emotions with our audiences over 15 years.' It comes after a number of TOWIE stars came to blows as they were dragged apart from each other in an explosive showdown during Sunday's episode of the ITV2 programme. The popular reality show returned to our screens this weekend for its 36th series, which involved the cast jetting off to Portugal. At the start of the instalment, a Whatsapp message was brought up which was about how Freddie Bentley, 27, wasn't impressed with how any of his co-stars showed his support towards his best pal Ella Rae Wise, 25, while she was in the Big Brother house. Ella admitted that she expected some support from Jordan Brook, 28, his girlfriend Sophie Kasaei, 35, and the rest of the cast - however they failed to post anything on social media. Tensions started to rise as Ella confronted Jordan about it, while Freddie, Junaid Ahmed, 30, and Joe Blackman, 27, listened in on the sun lounges next to them. Dan Edgar, 35 - who is Ella Rae's ex boyfriend - is best mates with Jordan and told her: 'I would be wrong and I would be two-faced Fred, like you've called me in the past, if Dan is sitting with me going through a lot and I start posting about you.' Ella replied: 'Sophie wouldn't stand it if you went on a bender.' Sophie, who was sitting on a sun lounger, said: 'I actually wouldn't mind. I'd be with him, that's why.' Meanwhile Amy Childs, 35, and Lauren Goodger, 38, were watching on from a distance and Amy confessed: 'Oh my God I can't even look!' Ella got up and removed herself from the conversation, to which Jordan told her: 'Don't call my bird desperate.' It comes after a number of TOWIE stars came to blows as they were dragged apart from each other in an explosive showdown during Sunday's episode of the ITV2 programme Sophie, 35, fumed: 'Who is calling me desperate?!' Jordan pointed at Ella and said: 'Her.' As Ella walked off she said: 'You're all meant to be in your 30s, grow the f*** up!' Freddie then chimed in and said: 'It's getting ridiculous.'
