Q: Could you speak to the margin trajectory for the rest of the year, especially considering the variability in the back half of last year? A: Gregory Anderson, President of Allegiant Travel Co, explained that while they are not providing full-year guidance, the focus remains on optimizing margins. The third quarter is typically the softest, but they aim to improve it by managing capacity and costs aggressively. The fourth quarter last year saw a 13% margin, and they aim to continue optimizing margins throughout the year.

Micah Richins, President of Sunseeker Resorts, added that 70% of food and beverage revenue comes from hotel guests, with 30% from locals. The sustainability of earnings is tied to group business, which doubled compared to the previous year.
Q: What is the underlying fuel cost assumption, and what is the expected capacity growth for the year? A: Robert Neal, CFO, stated that the fuel cost assumption is $2.40 per gallon. Drew Wells, Chief Commercial Officer, mentioned that the expected capacity growth for the year is around 13%, with flexibility to adjust based on demand.
Q: Can you provide more color on the recent demand stabilization and improvement trends? A: Drew Wells noted that there has been a recent uptick in demand over the past week, with improvements seen broadly across regions. However, the second quarter is expected to face more year-over-year pressure on TRASM compared to the first quarter.
Q: How is the Boeing MAX fleet performing operationally and financially compared to expectations? A: Gregory Anderson highlighted that the Boeing MAX fleet is outperforming expectations, with a 35% EBITDA advantage per aircraft compared to the A320 fleet. Operationally, the dispatch reliability is above the system average, and the financial performance is strong, although it's still early in the fleet's deployment.

J. Todd Inman speaks about national transportation safety in Owensboro

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — An Owensboro native who has reached national acclaim returns home to speak to members of the city's chamber of commerce. National Transportation Safety Board Member J. Todd Inman spoke at this morning's rooster booster breakfast. He served in several roles while living in Owensboro. Most recently he was the spokesperson for the investigation into that mid-air collision over the Potomac River. Trump EPA rollbacks would weaken rules projected to save billions of dollars and thousands of lives From the frontlines of national transportation crises, back to Owensboro. J. Todd Inman reflects on what leadership, community and service really mean to him. Inman served as Chair of the Greater Owensboro Chamber board in 2006. He returned Thursday as a proud Western Kentucky University alum and now national figure at the center of transportation safety conversations. 'We would like to be able to prevent disasters from happening rather than investigating them and then making recommendations. I was there on the two Boeing Max crashes occurred. I thought the first was a tragedy. The second was a travesty. So, I wanted to try to make a difference so I could try to help not let that second travesty occur again,' says Inman. Earlier this year, he was the spokesperson for the Potomac River crash investigation. 67 lives were lost when an American Airlines jet and Army Black Hawk helicopter collided. Inman offered transparency and compassion as he addressed the public and family members of crash victims, before helping to implement new safety recommendations regarding helicopter proximity. 'We found that the current configuration around DCA had to high of a level of risk in that planes could get too close. We saw that happen on January 28th…where slight variations outside of parameters were catastrophic. We need to build in additional buffers…You hope something else captures it. In this case, nothing caught it. You saw devastation. It's been 19 years since we've seen something like that. We'll get better. We'll learn from it,' says Inman. Rooster Booster also honored the newest Leadership Owensboro graduates. Future leaders heard from someone who was once in their shoes. 'Calvert City, Kentucky… 3000 people, two stoplights ,a national spokesperson. I came because they asked. I think they're proud, but I also want them to know it could be them at any point,' says Inman. Inman now lives in Arlington, Virginia. He says the streets he walked in Owensboro were the beginnings of his pursuit of purpose. 'I don't know a single person who lives in out building in Arlington, Virginia, I don't know their name, but here you're getting hugs. You're talking about children. You have ties [and] bonds. There are good people around, and I like being around good people,' says Inman. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Striking workers approve latest contract offer from at RTX's Pratt & Whitney

By Dan Catchpole (Reuters) - Striking workers at RTX's Pratt & Whitney approved the company's second contract offer on Tuesday by 74%, according to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. The strike at two of the engine-maker's plants in Connecticut began May 5 after members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers overwhelmingly rejected the first contract offer. Union representatives have previously said the roughly 3,000 striking workers' top priority is getting Pratt to commit to keep work for Lockheed Martin's F-35 fighters in the state. The strike is the first in more than 20 years at the enginemaker's Connecticut sites, where it produces engines for the F-35 and about 70% of the company's geared turbofan engine, which is used in European planemaker Airbus' strong-selling A320 neo family. The vote results "reaffirms our commitment to the people, programs and communities that have powered our legacy — and will shape our next century of aviation innovation,' a Pratt & Whitney spokesperson said. During the strike, Pratt reassigned some engineers to production lines as part of its contingency plan, which was first reported by Reuters.

Allegiant Air Announces Expansion of Routes

Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and that means Americans will be traveling in full force and that the summer travel season has officially begun. According to AAA, 45.1 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home during the Memorial Day holiday period, which runs from May 22 to May 26 in their projections. AAA also projects that this year's U.S. travel forecast will see an increase of 1.4 million travelers compared to last year and even set a new Memorial Day weekend record. That would mark the biggest travel increase since 2005, with 44 million people. "Despite concerns over rising prices, many Americans say they're taking advantage of the long holiday weekend to spend time with loved ones, even if the trips are closer to home," AAA states. Now, a major U.S. airline is announcing five new non-stop routes to eight cities around the country, as well as a special for one-way fares on the new routes for as low as $39. That airline is Allegiant Air. According to the airline's chief commercial officer Drew Wells, "This expansion caters to passengers and communities we feel have been overlooked by other carriers." Even though the announcement was made before Memorial Day, the routes won't launch until later this summer and into the fall. The first route launches between South Bend International Airport in Indiana and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida, beginning on Aug. 29. The next route will be in Tennessee, from McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville to Memphis starting on Sept. 4, as well as to Key West, FL, starting on Oct. 3. Finally, the Gulf Shores International Airport in Alabama will see new Allegiant routs to Appleton, WI, and Des Moines, IA, starting on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3, respectively. "Allegiant's unique business model, connecting small-to-medium sized cities to vacation destinations, creates accessible travel options not otherwise available in what we believe are underserved markets," Wells said. "We know travelers enjoy the convenience of nonstop flights departing from their neighborhood airport."
