Manassas man charged with rape after sexually assaulting girl he met on Instagram, police say
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. () — A Manassas man is being held behind bars after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child he met on Instagram, police announced Thursday.
Officers arrested Widman Vicente Lopez, 19, on June 4, charging him with rape, solicitation of a minor and use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses involving minors.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, detectives opened an investigation after a girl, who is under the age of 13, told family members that a man had sexually assaulted her.

While investigating, detectives learned that the girl was talking to Vicente Lopez when he solicited sex acts from her, according to police. The pair had reportedly met over Instagram.
Detectives also discovered that Vicente Lopez met the girl in the 100 block of Nadia St. at the end of April, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.
He is being held without bond.
